John Lennon and Jesus Christ
I wouldn’t have gone here if it hadn’t been one line in a Facebook post about the time that Ringo walked out of the 1968 Beatles’ White Album recording sessions. The throwaway statement was something along the lines of “John thought he was Jesus.” Oh, I’d never heard that idea be mooted before.

Well, me of all people should have recognized the link between them, but I guess I had to wait for the ‘spirit prompt’. Have you ever seen a more auspicious line-up of astrological energies? I don’t need to prove it, as it’s there in black and white. (Hint: their Ascendants are within 1° of each other’s.)

And so say all of us!

Judging by the anecdotes flowing from the period: Emerick’s walk-out – Ringo’s – George Martin’s unannounced holiday late in the sessions – Yoko’s sudden omnipresence – the romantic turmoil in Paul’s life – Derek Taylor’s remark, “I don’t think I ever hated anyone as much as I hated Paul in the summer of 1968” – John’s declaration that he was Jesus Christ, returned to earth – all point to a profound instability in the ranks following the release of Sgt. Pepper and the death of Brian.
