Canada Invited to Join the European Union as an Associate Member
Having seen the United Kingdom go through the process of leaving the EU in 2016 (known as “Brexit”), I can only hope that Canada’s independence is upheld and respected. We as a country didn’t reject becoming the American 51st state, only to become a full partner in Europe. From all appearances, this move would seem to be to make trade between Canada and Europe easier and tariff-free. In other words, this is meant to be a slap in the face of Donald Trump, who thinks the world revolves around him and the USA.
Please notice that PM Mark Carney immediately flew to London to meet with British PM Andy Burnham. The reason? To bolster a military alliance with the United Kingdom. Then he’ll meet with French President Emmanuel Macron. This proves that Canada hasn’t forgotten its roots.
Mark Carney is one can-ny leader.
