The Holy Roman Empire Strikes Back But Loses

Edict of Worms (May 25, 1521)

It seems that the schism that happened between the Roman Catholic Church and Protestantism can actually be charted to this event, which saw Martin Luther be branded a heretic. Now, I have a birth chart for Luther on my Kepler 8.0 computer program, but I’m not going to display it at this time. In fact, I’ve written about Luther and his protest in my book “At This Point in Time”.

Here’s the event chart, randomized to a short time after noon, on the day.

It is as I expected: Sun (conjunct the Midheaven in Gemini!) is inconjunct to Pluto in Capricorn. At the same time, Saturn in Aquarius is inconjunct the Virgo Ascendant, while Jupiter in Sagittarius is inconjunct to Uranus in Taurus. Everything is exactly as it should be. The Roman Catholic Church lost its stranglehold on Europe, and the Protestant Reformation was born. Isn’t astrology grand?

This is the Third Italian-Based Film We’ve Seen This Year

Book Club: The Next Chapter (2023)

After being stuck at home during the pandemic, the ladies are ready to let loose. And, boy, do they ever.

Since the concept of the book club is a review of a book, there are several references to this one book:

It is a fun ride, full of twists and turns, and lots of innuendo. They’re all supposed to be in the 70’s, but one of them is in her 80’s, pretending to be younger. (I wonder who, eh?) I’m surprised they can walk a straight line after so much wine. And then I remind myself: it’s a fantasy. Enjoy!

If You Kant Beat Them, Join Them

Immanuel Kant (April 22, 1724 – February 12, 1804)

Philosophers are a boring lot. It’s hard to get excited about them. ESOTERICA‘s video about Kant, yesterday, almost put me to sleep. But, because I’d previously written about Emanuel Swedenborg, whom Kant ‘agrees’ with, I thought it might be useful to look at his charts.

The Kepler 8.0 guide says that Kant’s birth time is from a birth certificate. The fact that the Sun is just above the horizon line implies that someone picked dawn, which is usual when the birth time is not known. So, a grain of salt is needed here. The clear major aspect is a T-square pointing at the Moon (in wide conjunction to Mercury), squared to Mars on the one side and a Saturn/Midheaven conjunction on the other. At the same time, the Sun is in (almost exact) opposition to Uranus. These aspects are the main indicators of a philosopher. And just for good measure, Neptune is conjunct the North Node in Taurus. There is one inconjunct linking Venus and Saturn. Hmm.

It may have taken his whole life, but his ‘fatal’ Neptune is now in opposition to his natal Neptune (and now conjunct to his South Node in Scorpio). The interactive inconjunct is between his natal Sun/Ascendant conjunction and his ‘fatal’ Saturn. That’s interesting. At any rate, he came to some fascinating conclusions by the end of his life.

Amen.

What Can I Possibly Say About This Man?

John Denver (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997)

Sometimes, they say, it’s better to say nothing at all. But then I looked at his birth and death charts.

There are two Yods (Fingers of God), one pointing at the Sun, the other pointing at Mercury. Mercury’s inconjuncts are with Jupiter and Saturn. The Sun’s inconjuncts are with Pluto and the Gemini Ascendant.

That kind of says it all.

By the time of his plane accident, those inconjuncts are gone, replaced by a close Sun/Mercury conjunction in opposition to Saturn. “Times up!”

Comparing his birth and death charts a different pattern emerges:

His close natal Mars/Uranus conjunction with that same Gemini Ascendant is in direct opposition to his ‘fatal’ Pluto/Virgo/Mars conjunction in Sagittarius. His ‘fatal’ Moon is the apex of a Yod with his natal Neptune and Pluto. And his natal Jupiter is inconjunct with his ‘fatal’ Neptune. Hmm.

“Don’t know when I’ll be back again…”

When Questioned, DJT’s Higher Spirit Said “I’m Sorry”

Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” (1976)

When questioned why by Karen of “Ask the Spirit Guides” YouTube channel, the higher spirit said: “Still alive.” What happened to his “disrupter” soul contract? “Went too far.” What about his tariffs? “Failure.”

In the end, how are we to deal with #47? “Ignore.” (Well, I said that at the very beginning of Trump’s reign in 2017, but no one took any notice of my advice.) What should we do? “Must join protests.”

Amen.

Meals Like Grandma Used to Make

Nonnas (2025)

Since it came out on Mother’s Day, this Netflix film has already had a good run.

Nonnas is a 2025 American biographical comedy-drama film[2] directed by Stephen Chbosky, written by Liz Maccie, and starring Vince Vaughn, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro with Linda Cardellini and Susan Sarandon. The film is based on the life of Joe Scaravella, the owner of Staten Island restaurant Enoteca Maria, who risks everything to honor his recently deceased, beloved mother by opening an Italian restaurant with actual grandmothers as chefs.

This film is inspired by a true story.

The film serves up the origin story as a very palatable meal. If you love Italian food, you’ll love this one.

Well, It Happened Again (in the Middle of a Dream)

I Fell Out of Bed (May 18, 2025)

The illustration is for entertainment purposes only. My face actually hit the side table again, this time on the left cheek, leaving scrapped skin. My knees and right elbow hit the floor hard. My large right toe had the skin pulled back, by the bed frame, most likely.

I was trying to get to an escaped dog in my dream. A car was bearing down on him, coming the other way. Running as fast as I could, I tripped…and ended up on the floor, literally.

I thought that the Mars/Pluto opposition was to end today! Was I wrong?

Well, it’s close. However, Mars is now in opposition to the Midheaven, which is conjunct to the Moon and to Pluto (but with an 11 minute difference). The Sun and Uranus are closely conjunct the Taurus Ascendant: could they be the cause of the fall? Only when I compare this event chart to my birth chart does it make sense to me.

Mars is transiting my natal Pluto. So, I’m not out of the woods, yet. Just a few days more.

See? No real harm done.

It’s a Coming-of-(Spiritual)-Age Story

Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret (2023)

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t give a film like this a second glance. Coming-of-age stories can be interesting, if they’re set in the right time frame. This one is dated 1970. (I also suspect that my girls read it in the 90’s.)

It’s a story about peer pressure and family dynamics. Margaret is 11 when we meet her, and she’s just been uprooted from her New York City life and transplanted in New Jersey. It’s a delicate time for her.

Prompted by her 6th grade teacher, Margaret begins to question her religious beliefs. Her mother’s family are Christian, her father’s Jewish. Her parents vowed that Margaret could choose what she wants to believe when she’s an adult. Margaret wants to belong to ‘something’, but religious services are confusing, especially when they’re in Hebrew. However, she carries on a daily conversation with God, even though it seems He never hears her prayers.

[Judy] Blume said that she felt a connection with the character Margaret, which allowed the story to come “pouring out.” Blume wrote that while the story was not autobiographical, “the character of Margaret, both physically and emotionally, is pretty close to the girl I was.” Growing up, Blume said while her family was very different from the one portrayed in the book, she felt that, “like Margaret, I had a very personal relationship with God that had little to do with organized religion.”

Wikipedia

Viewed from the spiritual perspective, this story demonstrates how everything happens at the right time, even if that seems inopportune from a limited viewpoint. Margaret’s final prayer (after months of silence) was:

“Are you still there, God? It’s me, Margaret. Thanks for everything.”

Gratitude is the best prayer.

OK. Sometimes One’s End Erases a Life Achievement

Meriwether Lewis (August 18, 1774 – October 11, 1809)

Wondering if Lewis was a reincarnation of Pierre Radisson, I started to do my due diligence of Lewis’ life, or, more accurately, his death. Now I wish I hadn’t, because it’s so sad. He may have committed suicide.

This natal chart was already on my computer program. As his birth time is unknown, the clock has been set for 12 noon, local time. Yet, the timing allows us to see that the Sun/Mercury/Midheaven conjunction @ 25° Leo is inconjunct to Pluto @23° Capricorn. Hmm.

Sun Inconjunct Pluto

There will be many changes in your life, and you will be affected by deep psychological forces that may be difficult to understand at times, as well as confusing to the people around you. You approach people with great intensity, and your emotional involvements are seldom casual. Either you like people very much or you dislike them intensely. Possibly your attitudes on other matters will be extreme also. One of the most important lessons that you will have to learn is to be more moderate.

Planets in Youth (page 94) by Robert Hand (1977)

Mercury Inconjunct Pluto

On another level, this aspect can mean that at certain times in your life you will go through tremendous psychological changes. All your thoughts and opinions will change completely. These stages may seem difficult, but you will be much better off if you let go of the past and welcome new ideas.

Ibid (page 172)

Pluto Inconjunct Midheaven

Another problem that can arise if you are not treated properly is that you may withdraw into yourself and become very secretive, as though you have something to hide even when you don’t. This can make people distrust you.

Ibid (page 357)

Is that any clearer?

His Suicide?

Evidently, a gunshot was heard just before dawn on the day of Lewis’ death. He died a couple of hours later, but the moment can be seen for what it is, a cry for help: Mars inconjunct Midheaven, and Pluto inconjunct Ascendant. A potent combination.

Comparing the two charts shows a fatal element to his story: Pluto was transiting his natal South Node, Venus was transiting his natal North Node. There may be some truth to the idea that he was having some difficulty with his love life after the Discovery Expedition. The fatal Sun/Ascendant conjunction is inconjunct to his natal Jupiter. Is it enough to shoot himself? I guess you’d have to be there to know, for sure.
