Enigma: The Thoroughly Modern Myss

Caroline Myss

I don’t do this very often. A friend from our Faith & Science group found an interesting post on the internet. It was an analysis of Caroline Myss using the Moon’s lunar periods to explain the timing of her life. I’d never thought to do that.

But the post did divulge Ms. Myss’ birth details, so I took it as a sign that I could utilize the information and share it with the world.

The Chart

I’ve said many times that it is impossible to know someone, unless you have walked a mile in their moccasins. What I didn’t expect to see was the fact that Caroline’s Ascendant is within 1º of my own (19º Sagittarius). OK. That shows me that we’re coming from the same place, and speaking the same truth.

As Caroline is a public personality, I think it is only fair to share what I can see in her chart, especially the inconjuncts and the obvious Finger of God (Yod) pointing at Jupiter.

Sun Inconjunct Jupiter

It is important to discipline your habits and try not to do anything to excess, as you may tend to do. You may gain a great deal of weight, for example, or damage your health in other ways. Laziness and physical softness are very great dangers with this aspect. You may tend to be sloppy in the way you dress and take care of yourself.

Nevertheless, this aspect has possibilities for positive and helpful energy. You may be a very optimistic person who helps people in need at the critical moment. If so, others will help you when you need it. If you can control yourself and keep from going overboard, you will find that you can be quite lucky. But don’t assume that luck will always carry you through. Work as hard as you can to get what you want and act fairly and honestly with others; then the luck will be there.

Jupiter Inconjunct Midheaven

The problem with this aspect is to find a balance between, on the one hand, expressing yourself creatively, perhaps artistically, and having a good time and, on the other hand, getting ahead in life, learning the ways of the world and finding an acceptable role in society. You know you will have to make sacrifices in order to accomplish anything of value.

Moon Inconjunct Venus

You need to be loved, even more than most people, particularly by your mother or another woman who takes the place of your mother. This need for love will be the force behind many of your actions. If you don’t find the love you are looking for, you will develop an insecure hunger for love from everyone you meet. However, you may express this in very strange ways, such as a desire for food, especially sweets, which unconsciously represent love to you.

Uranus Inconjunct Ascendant

Your need for freedom may interfere with your close relationships. When you are with others, even those you like, you feel very restless but you can’t get up and leave because you want to be with them. This is typical of the ambiguity that comes with this transit. Certainly, the more others try to restrict your freedom of movement, the more you try to get away.

The restless energies of this aspect should be given some kind of release, because otherwise they can turn inward to create the kind of rash and compulsive actions that lead to accidents. If you have accidents, it is not because you are unlucky, but because you are not careful at critical times. Learn to avoid any kind of dangerous activity when you are nervous, upset or feel that your energies are scattered.

Conclusion

Caroline Myss is a modern mystic. In her career she has been, and still is, a psychic medical diagnostician. Her chart shows signs that she is very shy, almost panic-stricken by public speaking. And yet, there she is, out in front of people, speaking her truth. She comes across as a stern teacher, but her soul is having a really good time helping others.

We should all aspire to do the same.
