I’m Beginning to Think that I’m Too Subtle Sometimes:

Let’s Start a Dialogue about the N-Word

All joking aside, there are three recent posts of mine which attempted to connect the dots where harsh truth is concerned. The first was about Dred Scott, the second about Roe v. Wade and the third concerned JWR. But the connections were so subtle that the thread was lost, somehow. (In reality, the progression of my thinking appears too disjointed because of the other posts that I published concurrent to these ones.)

In each case Justice was the theme, and the undercurrent was Prejudice.

Woman Is The Nigger Of The World

Song by John Lennon, Plastic Ono Band, and Yoko Ono

Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes, she is, think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it, do something about it

We make her paint her face and dance
If she won’t be a slave, we say that she don’t love us
If she’s real, we say she’s trying to be a man
While puttin’ her down, we pretend that she’s above us

You know, woman is the nigger of the world, yeah
If you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave to the slave
Ah, yeah, if you believe me, scream about it

We make her bear and raise our children
And then we leave her flat for being a fat old mother hen
We tell her, home is the only place she should be
Then we complain that she’s too unworldly to be our friend

Well, now, woman is the nigger of the world, yeah, she is
If you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave to the slave
Yeah, if you believe me, you better scream

We insult her every day on TV
And wonder why she has no guts or confidence
When she’s young we kill her will to be free
This is the one that I can never remember
But you get the message anyway

You know that woman is the nigger of the world
Yes, she is, if you don’t believe me, take a look at the one you’re with
Woman is the slave to the slave
Yeah, Connolly was right, we scream it

We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance
We make her paint her face and dance

You know, we make her paint her face and dance
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance
We make her paint her face and dance

(1972)

(And if you’re wondering how Jody Wilson-Raybould fits into this equation, the title of her book is an allusion to the phrase “Nigger in the Woodpile”.)

Now That’s a Title: “Indian in the Cabinet” (2021)

Jody Wilson-Raybould (March 23, 1971)

I meant to buy and read this book earlier, but too many things got in the way, until today. I knew she was an honest woman, from the time of the SNC-Lavalin affair from more than two years ago. Now, in reading her own account of her time in Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government, I know it, for sure.

Again, I just wanted it to end. The condescension. The belittlement. The lack of seriousness. The lack of commitment to the truth. I felt he was trying to put me back into my place. What did I know? Why was I there? In the prime minister’s version of the SNC-Lavalin affair, I did not know what I was talking about. I was wrong. The so-called experts in the PMO were right. It was all in my head. In his view, I was just hurt.

“We have all tried to help you,” he said. “We have all tried so much to help you be successful.” Thank you, great white father, I thought to myself.

We were both totally exasperated at this point.

“I do not believe in you anymore,” I said.

“I still do not know why you are resigning,” he said.

“I do not trust you anymore,” I replied.

With that our conversation ended. The prime minister, as was his way, asked for one last hug.

I felt sick. And sad. I cannot remember if we hugged. I left.

I went to the airport and boarded a plane back to Ottawa, where I would resign the next day. I slept the whole flight. Go figure.

Wilson-Raybould, Jody. “Indian” in the Cabinet (p. 12). HarperCollins Canada. Kindle Edition.

Hmm.

I raised a birth chart for Mrs. Wilson-Rayboult at the time of her resignation, but I randomized the time. Now I see that others have a more correct birth time of 10:23 am, so I’m going with that.

As luck(?) would have it, there are two inconjuncts, both of which hinge on this birth time being correct.

Neptune Inconjunct Ascendant

This aspect can be a sign that you must give way to others in order to get along with them. This can take two forms, both of which will be difficult to handle while you are young. The less positive form is simply yielding to all outside pressure and always giving in to others’ desires. This will produce unconscious feelings of resentment that you can’t express, but that make your relationships with others rather difficult. And as you get older, if you do not learn to stand up for your rights, the problem will get worse, because you express your unconscious resentment as a martyred attitude, which makes it impossible for others to appreciate or use anything they get from you. Thus the results of your sacrifice are totally negative, because you are not happy with giving and they are not happy with receiving.

But the other, more positive, way of dealing with this energy is by giving freely before others try to take it from you. In order to do this, you have to feel good about yourself and confident that you will always have enough for yourself and others. One side of you likes to help and take care of people and will not feel taken [advantage of] by those whom you give to. In the highest expression of this aspect, what you gain for yourself will not mean as much as what you gain for others, which is the effect you should work for.

Pluto Inconjunct Midheaven

You may have trouble with older people who try to teach you how to effectively take control of your life. Even while you are young, you may resent their control over you and resist everything they are trying to teach you. To a great extent, youth path in life will be shaped by your early confrontations with authority figures. Your parents would be well advised to give you as much control as possible over your own affairs and as much self-determination as you can handle. They should not try to keep an extremely tight rein on you, for if they do, you will explode and become very difficult to handle. Also your self-esteem would be damaged. Your parents and teachers should be very straightforward with you, because if you feel that people are not being honest with you, you will not be honest with them. You are quite capable of acting behind peoples’ backs if you consider it necessary or if you feel that you never get your own way.

Another problem that can arise if you are not treated properly is that you may withdraw into yourself and become very secretive, as though you have something to hide even when you don’t. This can make people distrust you.

(Perhaps Justin Trudeau should have had birth charts drawn up for each of his cabinet choices…)

Last of the Great Russian Christian Mystics

Leo Tolstoy (September 9, 1828 – November 20, 1910)

Leo Tolstoy barefoot (1901)

Ian, from our Faith & Science group, sent me links to pdf copies of two of Leo Tolstoy‘s books on the Gospels. Ian also copied out the Preface to “The Gospel in Brief”. One passage caught my eye:

When I had finished my work I found to my surprise and joy that the Lord’s Prayer is nothing but a very concise expression of the whole teaching of Jesus in the very order in which I had arranged the chapters, and that each phrase of the prayer corresponds to the meaning and sequence of the chapters:

1 Our Father, Man is a son of God

2 Which art in Heaven, God is the infinite spiritual source of life.

3 Hallowed be Thy Name, May this source of life be held holy

4 Thy Kingdom come, May his power be realized in all men

5 Thy will be done, as in heaven, May the will of his infinite source be fulfilled as it is in himself

6 So on earth, so also in the bodily life.

7 Give us our daily bread, Temporal life is the food of the true life.

8 Each day. True life is in the present.

9 And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And let not the mistakes and errors of the past hide that true life from us.

10 And lead us not into temptation, And may they not lead us into delusion,

11 But deliver us from evil, And so there shall be no evil.

12 For thine is the kingdom the power, and the glory, And may thy power, and strength, and wisdom, prevail.

Amen.

It’s the kind of thing that often happens to me, when I’m writing. More often than not, I will decide on a post title, long before I have even thought about what I want to write in the post. Holy Spirit led, I expect.

All astrology sites list 10:52 pm as Tolstoy’s birth time, and all of them mark the accuracy of that time as DD, in other words, unreliable. Even my Kepler 7.0 program had this time, so I’m not going to change it. As a result, there is only one inconjunct, and since it involves the Midheaven, it may not actually exist, if the time was wrong. (Note that Saturn is conjunct Venus in Leo…)

Saturn Inconjunct Midheaven

This aspect indicates that you very much need a positive relationship with your parents, especially your father. You should not be disciplined sternly unless you are given lots of love at the same time. Otherwise, giving and receiving love from others will be a real problem for the rest of your life. Unless you are truly supported by your family and friends, you will begin to feel lonely and isolated from others and inferior to them. Also you are likely to have very serious difficulties with authority figures, because you are afraid of how they will treat you, not expecting that anyone will ever give you the loving guidance you need. You will see all authorities only as potential threats to your freedom and as sources of pain and trouble.

(Perhaps this is why Tolstoy preferred to think of God as his Father.)

Fifty-Five Years of Independence has Led to This:

The Republic of Barbados (November 30, 2021)

Yesterday was the first day of the Republic of Barbados. I wonder what that looks like StarLogically…

Well, that’s a nice surprise: two incnjuncts, both of which are symbolic of this action.

Moon Inconjunct Uranus

Your relationship with your mother [country] may be rather unstable. She may be very involved in her own interests, which prevent her from being as close to you as she would be otherwise. She may be an unconventional person, a real free spirit. The problem is that your feelings about her are mixed, both loving and unloving. You may secretly resent her. Probably you don’t feel that you can express this consciously, but it could come out when you are angry or upset. Certainly this will result in not wanting to form close relationships with other people, especially woman. And the people you do choose as close friends are likely to be exciting and different from anyone you have known in the past. However, they may also be rather upsetting.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose. This is not true, however, because playing has a positive and useful function in the development of the adult mind and body. Not only does it serve to release tensions, but it also actually helps train you in social and physical skills that will be useful in any work you do later.

So, There You Have It: It’s Time to Party!

And the (Legal Heart) Beat Goes On and On…

Roe V. Wade (January 22, 1973)

That was then…
and this is now.

They say that nothing divides a country more quickly than a law that limits the choices of 50% of the population. Roe v. Wade has been a thorn in the flesh of the United States since SCOTUS made a 7-2 decision to allow women the right to abort their unborn babies. Texas was the original battleground, and now they’re trying to change the rules so that abortion becomes a last resort, not a first choice.

Even the Supreme Court justices are reluctant to reopen this case, in case it sets off another civil war.

Again I have set the timing of this chart for 12 noon. And it’s interesting how the energies line up for the day. There are two inconjuncts and they both speak louder than the protesting crowds, then and now.

Venus Inconjunct Saturn (Definite)

You need and want love, but you may not be able to get it easily. You may feel that your parents, teachers or other persons in authority make demands on you that you must fulfill before they will give you any love and support. If that is true, it is unfortunate, because you deserve respect and love as much as anyone. Although everyone must fulfill certain social demands, this should not be the condition for being loved. If this demand is carried to an extreme in your case, you will become cold-hearted and unable to love others even when you want to. You may also feel that you cannot indulge yourself in any pleasure or even love. When you are older, you may feel that duty and ambition must come before love and human relationships. Unfortunately, if you follow that path, you will become very lonely, and when you realize that you belong to no one and nothing, you will go through a spiritual crisis.

Mars Inconjunct Ascendant (Possible)

The difficulty with this aspect is to find a balance between getting what you want in life and getting along with others. More than most people, you will have to learn the necessity of compromising to get along with people, especially because you often seem more aggressive than you are. While you are young, the need to compromise may be frustrating, because youth is a time when your own needs seem especially urgent and demanding. At times you may feel that nothing is going your way, that you continually have to give in to others and put your own wishes aside. However, it is not really this bad. You do not actually have to compromise any more than anyone else, but you are more reluctant to do so.

Conclusion

Men have a difficult time with the whole abortion issue. In the past, especially, bringing life into the world was a very fragile enterprise. It was a wholly (read, Holy) feminine right (read, Rite), and men have sought to subjugate women, to gain control over their bodies, completely. Hence, Venus inconjunct Saturn. But it must be understood that women were already equal to men in all things, and this was their only advantage: if they rejected the unborn child, they (in effect) rejected the man whose child it was.

(And neither am I immune to this fact.)

The Wellspring*: A State of Total Relaxation

December 1, 2021: *New Channelling (XLI)

With your personal commitment to a short period of quiet time,

the awareness of the whole Universe opens up for you. At first, there are expectations of how this should be, but as you learn to relax into the quiet, different thoughts and images appear. This is how communication comes about. It is you who allows the curtain to lift and is not something that is imposed upon you by Higher Dimensions. You reach up, they do not reach down.

That sounds too easy if you have expected it to be something you had to suffer and strive for. It is like sinking into a state of total relaxation to meld with the Universe. Does this sound too grandiose? Not to believe shows how far you have forgotten your roots, your Source.

You are a unit of the great Creative Force, doing your share in the work of raising the vibration of the planet, and as you reclaim the power that is innate in you, the vision of the bigger picture comes into focus. The fact that you are beginning to see and understand this, shows how successful you have been in integrating the new energies.

This SCOTUS Decision Led to the American Civil War

Dred Scott v. Sandford (March 6, 1857)

Dred Scott (c. 1799 – Sep. 17, 1858)

We Canadians do not really have a true sense of American history. There, I’ve said it aloud. I was reading a chapter, today, in Phineas Quimby’s book entitled “Government”. It was written in April 1861, soon after Abraham Lincoln was elected President. Even at that stage of the proceedings, Quimby recognized that the United States of America had gone ‘wrong’, in his opinion, and that soon there might be a civil war between the North and the South, over slavery. He referenced this Supreme Court decision as a mistake.

For ease of handling, I raised this chart with a midday timing to see what might appear. Saturn conjunct the Ascendant in Cancer seems appropriate. Moon square Venus/Pluto, and Mercury square Uranus show the cosmic proportions of this decision. Taurus figures strongly in both these squares.

The question is simply this: Can a negro, whose ancestors were imported into this country, and sold as slaves, become a member of the political community formed and brought into existence by the Constitution of the United States, and as such become entitled to all of the rights, and privileges, and immunities, guarantied [sic] by that instrument to the citizen?

Dred Scott, 60 U.S. at 403

But the effect on the slave, Dred Scott, at the heart of this case may have proven too much to bear. He died less than a year-and-a-half later. His death chart is randomized (but the effect is startling).

The Decision’s Part of Fortune is conjunct Scott’s ‘fatal’ Ascendant @ 18° Scorpio, while Scott’s ‘fatal’ Part of Fortune is conjunct the Decision’s Sun @ 16° Pisces. Fortunately, after the civil war, the 13th and 14th Amendments to the American Constitution voided this Supreme Court decision.

13th Amendment

And yet, the beat goes on…

The Wellspring*: Self-Confidence

November 30, 2021: *New Channelling (XL)

Owning your power is the issue today.

Self-doubt can lead to a denial of your strength, fearing getting things wrong and being responsible for all you do. Fear of criticism and being misunderstood can cause you to hide your light. Each must learn to stand tall in their uniqueness without concern that you will not fit in to the norms of society.

Universal law is that when there is nothing of value to learn, it will be ignored, not relevant at that time. All words or dramatic situations that affect or shock contain a message for you to learn from. Contact with people can be the same. There are those who will leave a mark on you and others who are just “passing ships”. If you are working from highest intent there will be no karmic outcome, and if you upset some people, there will be an inherent gift towards soul growth.

Self-confidence does not automatically refer to vanity or pride, but is an acknowledgement of your true worth. Those who shout loudest are usually insecure, trying to wield power and inflate relevance. With true self-confidence, you can stand tall in silence and clear-sightedness, and truth will emanate from you.

(The Life and) Death of a Ladies’ Man

Leonard Cohen (September 21, 1934 – November 7, 2016)

Again, I wouldn’t have thought to do Leonard Cohen’s birth and death charts if it weren’t for the Netflix film “Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love” (2019). I got a better sense of the man through his own spoken words. (It also cleared up a question mark that had been hanging over Phil Spector. See my own comment there.)

He was a man who never ‘settled’ down to domesticity, although in the end he had connections to two families, Marianne’s and Suzanne’s.

I believe Neptune represents Suzanne and Venus represents Marianne. Notice that they are almost exactly conjunct @ 12° Virgo 43-44′ in the 12th House. There is a double inconjunct.

Sun Inconjunct Uranus

Sometimes the energy of this aspect comes out in other ways as well. At times sudden upsets may occur in your life that totally alter your plans, so that you have to change course completely. When this happens, you must learn to yield to the pressure and flow with the change. It may be difficult for you to realize it, but such an upset occurs because you have blocked much-needed changes in your life, or they have been denied you. However upsetting these changes are at first, they will give you the freedom you need to grow as an individual. Unfortunately, if you always wait for changes to come in this manner, they are likely to be very startling and unsettling. If you learn to assert your individuality more directly, the changes will not seem so upsetting.

As with many other inconjuncts, astrologers have found that if you suppress your need and desire for freedom in your life, this energy may be expressed through illness or accident. While you are young, you may have accidents because you suddenly make unpredictable, rash movements. Later in life this aspect can signify cardiac problems, but only if you suppress your natural need for self-expression.

Uranus Inconjunct Ascendant

Your need to be free and do what you want is often in conflict with what others require of you and even with what you feel you ought to do. Sometimes this conflict can cause considerable and emotional tension. The task you face is to organize your life in a disciplined way that will enable you to satisfy your need for freedom through your everyday activities. One way to accomplish this is by figuring out your own methods for doing your work. Or you may choose to do the most interesting and exciting tasks, which are often the most difficult, so that others shy away from them. You need to be challenged by puzzles and problems in all your activities. You are not good at routines and repetitious tasks.

The restless energies of this aspect should be given some kind of release, because otherwise they can turn inward to create the kind of rash and compulsive actions that lead to accidents. If you have accidents, it is not because you are unlucky, but because you are not careful at critical times. Learn to avoid any kind of dangerous activity when you are nervous, upset or feel that your energies are scattered.

Sun Conjunct Ascendant

You have a very strong personality, and when you enter a room, everyone knows it. As you get older, this will happen because of your impressive bearing, but while you are young it may just be that you are a show-off who has to be the center of attention. You want to be the leader of the group, the person whom all the activity revolves around. While you can be very charming and winning, your attitudes can make people very angry. Also you may have too good an opinion of yourself. You should concentrate on getting to know yourself and your limitations as accurately as possible. Then you can make the most effective use of your energy.

Cohen died on November 7, 2016, at the age of 82 at his home in Los Angeles; leukemia was a contributing cause. According to his manager, Cohen’s death was the result of a fall at his home that evening, and he subsequently died in his sleep.

Wikipedia

Because of the ambiguity of this quote, I’m not sure if he died on the night of the 7th or the early morning. So, although I have raised a death chart, I won’t share it here. Needless to say, Uranus was still the most important planet on his fatal day.

Goodbye, Leonard.

Post Script: Leonard’s lifelong use of amphetamines (“Speed”) is symbolized by Uranus.

The Wellspring*: Defence? Who Needs a Defence?

November 29, 2021: *New Channelling (XXXIX)

The Source does not require any defence.

It sees, knows and allows all. It is not threatened by disbelief, nor has any need to impose Itself. It just is.

As you develop an inner security, you too will not require a defence system, but an awareness of all that is happening so you can choose the best ways for you from clear-sightedness. This confidence in self is when the spiritual nature shines through in the world and you have owned your own god-like nature. By these means, you find freedom. The need to manipulate and control falls away, and cooperation is sorted in the creation of the New Earth.

We speak here of the ideal. It will take many generations to reach that point of inner peace when there is a critical mass, but each journey starts with the first steps when the light workers begin to reclaim their true nature. The movement is quiet and gentle, but the effects will be noticeable and will begin to be felt in your lifetime. Watch the young people, many of them are here to continue the work you start. You may not understand their priorities, but the future is their work and you can trust them. Their priorities are different to your own: theirs is a new horizon.

When your time comes to leave, you can go in peace.
