The Divine Life

Is it possible to ‘pinpoint’ a past life using Astrology? I think so, and A.T. Mann thought so, too. In his book’s Chapter 9, entitled “The World Age”, he postulated that one can calculate the ‘when’ of these lives by having an accurate birth chart erected, and then looking for the specific placements of the planets.

“The limits of the world age of 48,000BC and AD1950 are graded by an astrological sequence from Aries to Pisces. The same log sequence divides history as individual life, but in the reverse direction of time.”

World Age Log

“The intermediate dates occur at 5000 years and 500 years before AD2000, which places them at 3000BC and AD1500, equivalent to the beginning of Leo and Sagittarius.”

The Chart

Using my own birth chart, I will endeavour to demonstrate how this works.

The Planets

The Sun

20º Aquarius 3′

This may have been my Great War life, not the one I ‘remembered’ during my Hypnotherapy session. What I specifically saw was my death on the battlefield after being blown up by some sort of bomb. The birth of that life corresponds to 1892 AD.

It turns out that this life may have extended into the rest of the first half of the 20th century as “Ramsay”. The ‘death’ I experienced may have just been an NDE from the Great War. My ‘spy’ persona is strong in this one.

The Moon

14º Scorpio 45′

I think this could have been the Christian Rosenkreutz lifetime, as discussed in my recent blog. Scorpio is secretive and the 11th is the house of groups and fraternities. The timing of that life corresponds to 1330 AD. (Note dated August 15/19: this is my Cathar lifetime.)

Mercury

24º Capricorn 12′

This one will most definitely have to do with William Blake and John Varley (and their collaboration). Mercury is the writer, and the 1st is the house of expression. The date would be about 1822-23 AD.

Venus

5º Aquarius 44′

I haven’t had the pleasure of remembering this experience yet. But the indication is of a life sometime in 1855 AD. Turns out I was President Lincoln’s police protection officer who didn’t prevent his assassination. The date refers to John Frederick Parker‘s marriage (Venus) on July 16, 1855 to Mary America Maus.

Mars

10º Libra 59′

I originally thought this might be my Cathar life, but it’s too early in time. Anyway, the energy of Mars is more warlike. Two events which have significance to me happened in the year 720 AD: a stone church was built at Glastonbury Abbey; and the Muslims began a long siege of Carcassonne. Further research indicates a life as Count Roland.

ill_031_sml

Jupiter

15º Aquarius 45′

Again, I don’t know the life which this one might represent. The year is 1883 AD, and a lot of things happened in this year, including Karl Marx dying in London. (Again, further research found that Blavatsky and Olcott began working together to start the Theosophical Society.) It is also the year that Rudolf Steiner left university without a degree. Perhaps the Swami of Baltimore?

Saturn

17º Virgo 59′

I call this life the “Roman Governor”. Whether or not it’s Pontius Pilate remains to be seen, but the timing is 10 AD, so definitely in the early part of the 1st Century. Subsequent investigation concludes that it was a Centurion of the Roman Army in Judea instead. In the end, I decided to make the connection with Tiberius Julius Alexander.

Uranus

1º Cancer 17′

My friend Christina thinks we were part of the Atlantis ‘experiment’ which went horribly wrong.  I’m not sure, but it seems entirely possible, given that the date for this placement is 6700 BC.

Neptune

17º Libra 14′

Again, I’d hoped that this represented the Cathar life, but again it’s too early. The year is 862 AD and the most notable event in the West is the death of King Donald I of Scotland after a 4 year reign. In Eastern Europe, Saint Cyril and his brother do some great work with the Slavic language and a translation of the Gospels.

Pluto

16º Leo 56′

There are no records which would help me decide which life I had lived in the first decade of 1600 BC. However, my friend Christina, when asked if she could come up with the name of a Greek god that might be connected to me, said that the only name she got was Homer. That was a surprise! His great poems the Iliad and the Odyssey were written between the 9th and 8th century BC (according to scholars). The Trojan War occurred in the 13th century BC, and Sinon seems to fit the bill, but then again, history has a way of telescoping events into a single narrative.

North Node

10º Aries 2′

This date corresponds to 39270 BC. Could this be when I incarnated for the first time? Perhaps. It also represents the last time, too. It is the Alpha/Omega point of my life.

Ascendant

18º Sagittarius 51′

This is my fur-trader/explorer life. The date relates to 1650 AD. This is the one that makes me restless for the open road. It also keeps me from being complacent. Radisson is sooo me.

Midheaven

12° Libra 47′

This is related to energy of Mars, as noted above. It is conjunct a South Node of a friend’s chart @ 13° Libra 00′. That year relates to Charlemagne being crowned. Hmmm, most intriguing.

Chronological Order

39270 BC – North Node

6700 BC – Uranus

1600 BC – Pluto

10 AD – Saturn

720 AD – Mars

768 AD – Midheaven

862 AD – Neptune

1330 AD – The Moon

1650 AD – Ascendant

1822 AD – Mercury

1855 AD – Venus

1883 AD – Jupiter

1892 AD – The Sun

Conclusion

After connecting with most of my “past lives”, I would like to explain something intrinsic: The energy of the times is symbolized by at least one ‘hero’. In my case, the overarching energy is that of a “Warrior”. I’ve been through a few battles, that’s for sure.

In the times past, especially the ones closer to the present time, there seems to be a doubling or trebling of incarnations. It seems entirely feasible that one’s spirit can inhabit more than one life at any one time. This may have been explained better in Jane Robert’s “The Education of Oversoul Seven”. The people from the past seem to be whispering in my ear: ‘Look here, look here.’

Whatever this Divine Life is actually about, I am always being exhorted to:

know thyself

Order of the Rose Cross

Forbidden Faith

Courtesy of Google

Just when you thought it was safe to read about the past again, a new insight rears its beautiful head.

Forbidden Faith

In Chapter 7 (Rosicrucianism and the Great Lodges) of the above-noted book, I came across a quote which outlined the formation of the Fraternity of the Rose Cross:

“Their agreement was this: First. That none of them should profess any other thing than to cure the sick, and that gratis. 2. None of the posterity should be constrained to wear one certain type of habit, but therein to follow the custom of the country. 3. That every year upon the day C. they should meet together in the house S. Spiritus [i.e. of the Holy Spirit] or write the cause of his absence. 4. Every brother should look for a worthy person, who, after his decease, might succeed him. 5. The word C.R. would be their seal, mark, and character. 6. The Fraternity should remain secret one hundred years.”

OK. Of itself, this is no big deal, but then I got to thinking about why I have always avoided the subject of Rosicrucians and their Founder, Christian Rosenkreutz.

The Symbol

In 1990, or thereabouts, a friend drew a spiritual symbol for me. (And, in case you’re wondering, I have long since parted company with said drawing.) The image was of a wreath of rose stems, crossing the middle of the ‘circle’ and terminating in three different rose blooms: one was of a primrose; the second, a rosebud; and the third, a full bloom.

I remember at the time being seriously unimpressed by this gift, not because it was poorly drawn, or even insignificant, but because I was hoping for something more ‘substantial’.

Then it dawned on me, yesterday, after reading the first part of that chapter: “Holy Smokes, it’s the Rosy Cross!”

Christian Rosenkreutz

So who is this guy? Then the dominoes started falling into place. I was he (or I was associated with him), in the 14th Century. His life nicely fits into the gap between my Cathar existence (13th Century), and my fur-trading explorer’s life (17th Century).

The trigger? The building he renovated: Sanctus Spiritus. For years, I’ve pondered why I named my book of sonnets (written in 1984) Spiritus Sanctus. It only makes sense to me to think that I was echoing something from my past, because even as I thought of, and wrote, that title, I was aware that in Latin it would have been Spiritus Sancti (the Holy Spirit).

But that’s not all. I have always referred to myself and my belief system as Gnostic Christian. The thread runs too deeply for me to call myself anything else.

Conclusions

I wish I had that drawing now, to prove to all of you that someone’s vision showed me a hint about my past life. However it took a lot of years to pass before the ‘penny dropped’. Maybe I had to grow up before it dawned on me. Isn’t life grand?

Two Lost Poems

I found these poems in my Mother’s papers. (She died in 2003 – it’s taken me a while to get around to sorting them.) I think they show a guilty conscience on my part. (It would also help to know Italian, especially in the first one.)

Undeserving

My life cannot be seen as having worth,

Especially in reference to you.

I’m immature, and filled with my own view,

My words do not have depth, in shallow earth

Meant only for the wind and famine’s dearth,

Eventually to be sown anew,

Repeating what I know to be so true:

I have been undeserving of your mirth.

Tomorrow see us living out our days,

Eternally at odds with these two thoughts:

Virility is this man’s way to be

Offensive, while your gentle woman’s ways

Leave your virginity in Love’s soft knots…

Ergo: che cosa serả di noi?

27 May 1985

Scorpios

And ev’rything I touch just turns to mould…

So said the silly blighter to the judge,

Sad as it seems, there’s more that I must drudge

Up to your eyes, before this Court of Old.

My memory is good, so I’ve been told:

Events long past still help me bear a grudge;

Throughout my life I’ve faked; I’d even fudge

Heroic acts, if doing so would hold

Eternity at bay. What must I endure?

What punishment must now be meted out?

Oh, Gracious Sire, please grant me one last word:

Regardless of my sins, just reassure

Some Scorpios and leave no doubt;

Tell them I understand the things I’ve heard.

Facing Our Fears: You’re Not Alone

(Another letter to my Mom)

depression-cliffs-facing-our-fears

Dear Mom, (Dec 7 1988)

Thanks for the early Christmas card.

Your comment about ‘hearing’, coupled with your 1989 ‘coming events’, finally put my mind in tune with what has happened to you.

One forgets that parents get older as time passes…even though one may be approaching middle-age, and quite aware of deficiencies in one’s own physical prowess. (Do you like the English style of distancing personal remarks by using the [almost] personal third person?)

It has been said that the realisation that your children are growing, or have grown, up brings about the knowledge that you are getting old, too. (That’s the American way of distancing: using the second person.)

I feel slightly confused by all this sudden awareness of life’s limitations: it’s as if I’ve been pushed to the edge of a cliff, and told to jump, knowing full well that I haven’t yet learned to fly. (The first person [Canadian way] is still the best. It’s good to own my own thoughts and feelings, even as I’m sharing them with you.)

I wish that it were possible to return to OUR youth,

with the knowledge that we’ve gained along the way, without drinking from the Waters of Lethe and reincarnating. However, a fresh start, in a new body, is preferable if the old body feels worn out. The spiritual refreshment, in-between, takes away the pain of three-dimensional living.

But enough of that. I’m not sending you a ‘Mother’ Christmas card because what I need to say to you I can do at any time during the year in my own words. (In other words, no one else can do justice to my thoughts, as far as you are concerned.)

I love you deeply, more than just the love a child (or a son) feels for [his] mother, deep as that may seem. I also love you as a friend and confidant, and I look forward to the time when we can sit across a dining room table and discuss the progress of our lives.

Till then, I think of you with pride and

Love,

Chris X

Be Not Afraid

(Another letter from my mother…)

Be Not Afraid

Dear Chris, (April 12 1989)

Your postcard from the copper mine with its wry comments made me smile — I know just what you mean. You’ve been on my mind of late, so I bought a special airmail writing pad and shall jot down thoughts as they come to me. Some will be personal regarding your own queries but others will be of a more general nature, and of course some will be personal to me.

Finally I have a tape deck/radio/alarm clock which enables me to play many of the cassettes you’ve given me over the years, and with the help of my new “ears” now give me great pleasure. So once again, I thank you, dear boy/man.

There are many advantages to getting older,

not the least of which is the long backward look over the highways and byways of one’s journey. The journey offers many choices in getting to one’s goal but since the goal remains steadfastly ‘there’, then the journey, whether grand or petit[e], is pertinent only to one’s self and to no other. The only requirement is that in achieving the goal, the journey shall be harmless to others as well as to one’s self.

What often becomes perverted is caused by the confusion between goal and journey. The goal is not the experience; the journey is. The goal is total awareness and the journey supplies the opportunities to increase awareness. This is true for every creature, without exception.

We journey, in each lifetime, toward SELF-ness,

on a cosmic as well as a personal scale. When SELF-ness is finally revealed, then the loom of experience is no longer needed and will vanish. Art shows it as an apotheosis in which wings and halos are an indication; e.g. Pegasus, the saints, angels and even the so-called demons.

This world is the Shadow, SELF is the substance. Yet the whole concept is perverted, subverted, inverted by the distorted perception that “world is REAL” and “SELF is un-REAL.” So many settle down into that perception, that the ‘death’ of the form becomes the ‘enemy’ and much labour is spent on preserving ‘form-existence.’

I will not insult LIFE by confusing it to a simple struggle for existence.

To struggle to ‘live’ is, for me, an absurdity. LIFE is. If struggle comes into it, it is because we are under the illusion that somehow LIFE must be wrested from LIFE or it will cause DEATH. We live whether we are in form or out of it. Nothing can destroy LIFE.

The FORM changes only according to the experience necessary toward TOTAL CONSCIOUSNESS or SELF-ness. All things are varying forms under which LIFE veils itself.

And LOVE?

Well LOVE is the magnetic, cohesive matter that keeps FORM intact until a particular form is outworn and needs renewal. Magnetism is a facet of LOVE because LOVE itself is LIFE. If LIFE does not die, neither does LOVE: both are death-less.

If you, Chris, ‘die’ it is only death of the form. You continue to live, under any form, because you ARE life. Likewise for all CREATION. We do not need to know what LIFE is because we already know it in our bones, so to speak. What most of us seek is EXPERIENCE of LIFE so unmistakable that we are doubt-less. To find that experience is simply to allow one’s SELF to be.

What then hinders us from the experience?

Whatever we allow — it is LIVE spelt backwards, EVIL. That is what EVIL is – a perversion, even a conversion of LIVE. Then it follows that each of us, personally, must now endeavour to throw off the shackles of this shadow prison and let the soul’s SON/SUN shine — i.e. consciousness. How each of us achieves this is our journey.

I have long felt that mankind’s illusions are form of prison. There is a programme on TV called “(Doing) Hard Time on [Planet] Earth”, in which someone from another planet or galaxy is sentenced to serve time on earth for some misdeed or another. Not too far-fetched, after all. Plato was familiar with the idea of a soul being imprisoned in form.

Another thing I have learned is to carry through to completion an idea.

Only in its thorough-going manifestation can we perceive the idea’s validity or mistaken notion. One does not need too many ideas clothed in flesh to get the point of the exercise.

I voluntarily gave up the idea of wealth in material things a long time ago after reading Jesus’ remarks concerning Mary to Martha. Also storing up treasure in Heaven which remains incorruptible seems to me the height of practicality. At the same time, no one has the right to steal the means of ‘form’ maintenance from me just because my treasure is in Heaven. As long as any of us is clothed in flesh, then each has the right to the journey’s experiences, and not to be cheated of them.

Well, as you can see, Chris,

I have spent many a labour on winning through to whatever clarity is mine — and that cannot be taken away from me. All I can say is that the labours have caused inevitable conflict with authoritarian-ism but when one is free of the fear of death, when one considers all punishment as the natural outcome of prison-like thinking, one naturally come to the conclusion that the hand-sign of ‘be not afraid’ seen on so many spiritual statues, is to be taken literally. There are no terrors except those we have invented.

With much love, always.

I am your mother, sister, brother, friend.
