Am I Really a ‘Bad Actor’?

Facebook thinks so

This issue began when I posted a blog about why I was quitting Facebook. As is my want, I tried to share it on Facebook so that my friends, family and acquaintances would know why I wasn’t there anymore. (I know, I know: not a very well thought out plan…)

Almost instantly, Facebook said that it breached their community standards and therefore could not be seen by anyone but me on their platform. OK, I thought, so be it.

But then, I decided to give it another go, this time with a different blog. (This was a few weeks later.) Using the WordPress link at the bottom of the post, I clicked Facebook and was met with a note that my posts had been blocked because they’d been reported as containing abuse. Abuse?! Really?!

And this ‘ban’ includes Messenger…

OK. I’m one of those fake news perpetrators now. So that’s interesting…

Are You “Fed Up” Yet?

Fed-Up

I’m Fed Up to Here…

(Draws hand across neck).

When I was a child my mother used to ask me if I was CFRB. They were (and still are) the call letters of a radio station in Toronto. When I wondered what she meant, she said “Chocked Full Ready to Burst”.

So, my whole life, I have understood what ‘fed up’ means. That’s all!

Can You Decipher a Mystery Stone?

stone-2

Royal?

This month a village in France is offering a reward for anyone who can decipher the words on a rock in their harbour.

Like all good mysteries, the solution can be a simple one. In this case, it would appear that the hieroglyphics carved out on the rock are a local Breton variation of English words. But I expect the ‘experts’ will have a field day with this ‘Rosetta Stone’.

See if you agree:

The video (above) shows far more detail, including what looks like a church symbol, as well as a heart symbol. If the dates are correct, this could have been a ‘manifesto’ of support for the French King Louis XVI. Or, more likely, a simple memorial for someone who died there, perhaps a long-lost love…

At any rate, the reporting of this mystery has been too little, too often. Everyone has used the same exact phrasing, and the same photos. Making something from nothing, again?

A Peek Into The Future

2020-Campaign-Preview-Kamala-Harris-GQ-2019-012319-3x2

President Kamala Harris?

Now, wouldn’t that be something? Although it seems like a long shot now, we don’t know what’s going to happen in the next eighteen months. Or do we?

In my daily requests to the Almighty, I included one recently that asked for a peek into the future to see how the next American Presidential election would turn out. (And because I’m Canadian, this might seem a strange request…) Yesterday, I got a message from a fellow astrologer, Steve Kinsman, who asked me to calculate the start of the “Next Presidential Administration” (January 20th, 2021 @ 12:03 pm in Washington, D.C.). Wow, request answered!

But there is one small niggle: would a permanent Daylight Savings Time have taken effect? Steve didn’t think it would be in place by then, so I did as he asked, using Standard Time.

The chart that I produced seem to hint at a female hand guiding the wheel of state and so I made a psychic leap and thought of Kamala Harris. Then I slept on the idea.

This morning, I came to the realization that the DST question was actually in play, so I redid the chart with that in mind. Here it is…

AdminNextPresidentialWREJC1

Yes, that is the Moon conjunct the Ascendant. And the conjunction between Mars and Uranus is symbolic of ‘lightning striking’. The planets all being in the upper left quadrant of the chart reminds me of another chart, which I’ll get to later. But that Moon in Aries seems to rule the chart. Then I compared Kamala Harris’ chart to this one.

HarrisKamalaWBAGE1

Harris’ Moon is within one degree of the Admin’s Moon. I think we have liftoff!

(By the way, even if we still had Standard Time then, the Moon would have influence, but only as a 12th House undercurrent. Who would have thought one hour could mean so much?)

Now, to that other chart I mentioned. I had to look it up from memory, but I found it: the First A-Bomb Dropped in 1945!

Let’s hope this next Presidential transition doesn’t blow up in everyone’s faces.

(And, don’t forget: you had a peek into the future here first.)

Humour

As Personal as the Taste of Beer

My wife and I have a difference of opinion: I think I’m funny, and she doesn’t.

Her crew like slapstick comedy, I like biting wit. That equates to sweet and bitter: lager vs ale. But that just lets us know that we both enjoy humour, just that our tastes differ.

What’s your taste in humour?

A Legal Offer to “Drop Hands”

453x328-drop-hands

This is more than twenty years ago now: in the midst of a legal standoff between my employer and a supplier of interpretations of English words into French, I heard this phrase for the first time. We were in front of the judge in a small claims court, and he was hearing our suit against this other company. The reason for the suit was a matter of a few descriptive words on a product of lotion. The French interpretation of one of the ingredients made it sound awful. The respondent to the suit showed that the interpretation was factual, but not artistic. It looked like the other side might win the case. So our company director suggested that we all ‘drop hands’.

I hadn’t understood that phrase at the time, but the implication was that each side would pay their own legal fees and expenses.

Yesterday, I was wondering where that legal term came from. In my mind’s eye was an image of two fighters with their ‘dukes’ up. When they stopped fighting, they would drop their hands. But doing my research today, it turns out that it is more likely to have evolved from the poker table: when all bets are off, the players throw in (drop) their hands.

What do you think?

The Sacred Power of Three

Trinity, Again

I was watching a video of Don McLean’s “American Pie” and listened to the words:

“And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singing
.
“Bye, bye Miss American Pie…”

Then a bell rang in my head…hadn’t I heard something like this, somewhere else?

Simple answer: yes! “Wisemen” by James Blunt.

“Look who’s alone now
It’s not me, it’s not me
Those three wise men
They’ve got a semi by the sea
.
“Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?”
.
Sometimes, the sacred power to recall is intact…

If You Witness an Opioid Overdose:

gsl-poster-328x507-eng

Call 911, Stay and Help

In Canada, there’s been a change to the law, which I’d never heard about. It’s the “Good Samaritan” law which protects people who help others during an opioid crisis. In fact, I wouldn’t have known anything about it, if it hadn’t been for advertisements on the TV.

Today, when I began researching this law, I found that it is widely accepted in the United States and was originally intended to legally protect bystanders who go to the aid of an accident victim. The basis of the idea obviously comes from the Bible, which I have discussed previously.

I find it heartening that the Government is more interested in saving lives than in punishing people for possession of drugs. It shows me that the lawmakers’ hearts are in the right place.

There are Worse Things to be Called:

untitled

Pete Buttigieg as Alfred E. Neuman

It was reported today that Pete had to Google the reference that Trump made concerning Buttigieg being President of the United States. His response should have been:

“What, me worry?”

It must be said, though, that there is a certain similarity…
