Regrets, He Had a Few…

David Cassidy (April 15, 1950 – November 21, 2017)

Plastic surgery?

When a person is contemporary to one’s self, there is a certain amount of feeling, “So, what’s the big deal? Just because your father was a big star, doesn’t mean you should be, too.” That’s my take on David Cassidy. I think it’s really jealousy, on my part, but I wouldn’t have wanted to live his life story.

This is the ‘accepted’ birth time. However, that didn’t stop one astrologer from deciding that Cancer Rising wasn’t right. Somehow, that astrologer thought that David should have been Gemini Rising instead. OK. I get why that astrologer has that opinion, but the facts of David’s life confirm that he was as sensitive to criticism as you can be, with the Cancer Ascendant, and alcohol was his only ‘escape’. Unfortunately, it also cost him his life, in the end.

Sun Inconjunct Mars

You have a rather strong will, which may be difficult to control. This is because your way of doing something tends to interfere with what you want to gain by doing it. Your actions in some situations may surprise people by contradicting what they have learned about you as a person. Inside of yourself, you may even begin to feel that you can’t approve of the way you act, or you may feel that you can’t deal comfortably with the results of your actions. In other words, you get yourself into real jams.

The only real cure for these problems is to think before you act. Most of them come about because you act impulsively and hastily or out of anger and frustration. Such actions will usually work against you, not because those impulses are wrong, but because they don’t work out as you expect. Your angry style is different from your usual style of acting, when you are more in control of yourself.

If you can learn to handle this problem, you can gain quite a bit of power from your life, because you are able to attack problems and situations in two rather different ways. When one approach cannot solve it, the other may be able to. Any connection between the Sun and Mars helps you stand up and assert yourself. You can fight successfully, but only if you learn to control your energies.

However, it is not good for you to hold your angry feelings in. When you feel angry or resentful, your feelings are quite strong, and if you hold them in, they can turn into sickness or infection. In some cases your feelings can become self-destructive and bring about an accident. If you can focus your anger, express it and let it go, you will never remain angry for very long.

According to his estranged daughter, Katie Cassidy, David’s last words were, “So much wasted time…”

What We Saw was What We Got

George Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008)

I was a fan, ever since he first appeared on American television as the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman. My only claim to fame as his fan was passing him once while walking through Pearson Airport in Toronto. What surprised me was how small he was. He wasn’t the giant I thought he was. Hmm.

That Grand Trine is the giveaway: Mars @ 0° Sagittarius; Saturn @ 1° Aries; and Pluto @ 26° Cancer. Leo Rising allowed this Taurus Sun and Gemini Moon individual to shine a bright light on our foibles. And, oh, how he did. He was a one-in-a-million standup comedian, with NO HIDDEN AGENDA.

“I’m New Wave from the Old School..”

Some of George’s Rants

We shall never see the ‘likes’ of him again.

Question: What Does Fascism Look Like?

January 6, 2021 (and Thereafter)

I’m not being facetious here. The Storming of the Capitol Building looked like Kristallnacht, but in the daytime. And, interestingly enough, the (new) American Government reacted in a knee-jerk fashion, by erecting fences in Washington, D.C. and limiting access to Biden’s inauguration as President #46.

What galls me was ‘everyone’ calling out Trudeau and the Liberals when a similar thing happened during the Occupation of Ottawa by the Truckers’ Freedom Convoy. Obviously, it’s the pot calling the kettle black…

And political agenda being what is implied, everyone tries to score points in the ensuing debates.

How Can We Avoid Fascism?

It’s no joke…

The “Alternative” News of the World, According to:

Rupert Murdoch (March 11, 1931)

Is this the face of a man you can trust? Hmm. As owner of Fox, the (at best) opinions that he has are foisted onto the United States, Britain and Australia, all in the name of balanced news reporting…

I hate it when someone decides that one minute before or after noon or midnight is the correct time of a birth. Maybe it is ‘good’ as suggested, but I doubt it instantly. That Moon in Sagittarius in the 12th House is too suspicious to my mind. But, you never know, it could be right. I’m just stating my objections, ahead of anything else.

Venus Inconjunct Neptune (definite)

This aspect means that your attitudes about love and affection are very idealistic, as will become clearer later in life. Also it can be a sign of creative artistic ability if there are other indications of creativity in your chart. And, of course, you must begin the appropriate training while you are young.

This aspect will work out with the fewest problems if you get a great deal of emotional support from your parents and other loved ones. You are willing to serve, help and assist those you love, but you may honestly feel that you don’t deserve to be loved unless you are forced to serve your loved one in some way. This is because you feel that loving someone requires you to make sacrifices and to deny your own needs and that love may not necessarily make you feel good and warm.

Uranus Inconjunct Midheaven (perhaps)

You need to express your thoughts and feelings, but you often upset the people around you with your words. You seem to enjoy creating a stir every time you say something, but this can get you into quite a bit of trouble with parents, teachers and other authority figures. The underlying principle of this aspect is the need to balance your individual self-expression and manner of communicating with your need to learn and grow under the guidance of older people.

Certainly you will discover your own routes to what you want in life. Now you need to be given the confidence and encouragement to look for those routes on your own with total freedom.

One Photo that’s Worth a Thousand Words

So, folks, it’s your choice whether you believe what he tells you or not.

QED.

The Man For All Seasons

Charlton Heston (October 4, 1923 – April 5, 2008)

Cover courtesy of AbeBooks

I’ve written about Charlton Heston before, but didn’t go into his birth chart. I wonder why?

Again, this time of birth is considered ‘excellent’. That Part of Fortune/Neptune conjunction (@ 19° Leo) in the 10th House must be where his acting career comes from. Goodness knows he’s been lucky.

Venus Inconjunct Uranus

You feel mixed up about whether you want to be close to others or be free. When you are really close to a loved one, you feel smothered and want to get away by yourself to do what you want. But when you are alone and free to do what you want, you miss your loved ones and want to be with them. It will take you several years to understand yourself enough so that you can strike a balance between these two needs, so be patient.

Your uncertainty about love and freedom will be even greater if one of your parents doesn’t seem to really love you steadily, if you feel you cannot count on that parent when you need help. This would make you feel that love is somehow unreliable, that you cannot depend on anyone who loves you. As a result, you won’t permit anyone to depend on you either.

This belief may make you irresponsible in relationships, so that you won’t fulfill people’s expectations even when you have agreed to do so. Don’t promise love that you cannot deliver. While you are young this is not a great problem, but when you are older, you will hurt your partner in a relationship by not being dependable or by not being honest about your dependability. You may tell yourself that you want a steady love relationship, but then go after someone whom you know intuitively will not be reliable. But if you are honest about your need for freedom, this will not happen.

(Interestingly, I have this same inconjunct aspect although it is slightly wider than 3° in my chart. Obviously, he chose Lydia as his ‘one and only’ love while still young: theirs was an enduring marriage.)

Scots Heritage on His Mother’s Side

Would you believe he is descended from the Fraser clan? (Echoes of “Outlander” here…)

The clan motto is in ancient Norman French: Je suis prest — “I am ready” — a good motto for an actor (or a medieval Scots chieftain, for that matter).

(Scots tend to thrive in any climate, century, or circumstance, but the Fraser best known in history was Simon, the Twelfth Baron. After the bloody Scottish defeat supporting Bonnie Prince Charlie at the battle of Culloden in 1745, he avoided capture by the English so cleverly and so often that he earned the nickname “Simon the Fox.” Snared at last, he was thrown in the Tower of London and condemned to death as a traitor. On his way to the block, a woman in the jeering crowd taunted him, “They’ll cut yer ugly head off now, ye filthy Scots dog!”

“Aye, so they wull, ye bluddy English bitch,” he retorted equably. And so they did. He was the last nobleman executed in Britain, and the last man beheaded in that country. Dubious distinctions, but there they are. We take our family memories where we find them.)

In the Area (page 16)

This was when (1998) I started to question my hero’s real agenda. I’m a pacifist. I don’t believe anyone needs to own firearms. It’s not the Wild West anymore. But he stood on that podium and declared this motto. OK. Time to let him go, I said to myself.

Within 10 years he was dead. My hero was finally laid to rest.

(He’s still my hero.)

The Original Blonde Bombshell

Jean Harlow (March 3, 1911 – June 7, 1937)

1933

While working on Dolly Parton’s birth chart yesterday, I wondered if she had based her look on any particular actress. Lots of them came to mind, but none of them fit exactly. Jean Harlow is the best known for her ‘bad girl’ image, so I thought I might look at her.

This timing is considered ‘excellent’, so who am I to argue? Venus would be at the right age when Harlow died (26). Besides, that Yod (Finger of God) pointing at the Libra Ascendant looks mighty interesting. There is one additional inconjunct linking Uranus and Pluto.

Mercury Inconjunct Ascendant

You are likely to have some problems, but not serious ones, in communicating with others. The problem is that people’s first impression of you may not fit in with what you say or your manner of thinking and speaking. People tend to hear what they expect to hear, and they may not listen to you as carefully as they should. So you will have to be as clear as possible and insist that others listen to what you are really saying. If others do not understand you, it is up to you to set them straight.

This pattern also works in reverse in that what you say may make people respond in ways that you can’t accept. For example, you may be outspoken and frank but dislike it when others are, preferring to be treated gently and sensitively.

This aspect can be a sign of nervousness, so it will help to keep every part of your life in order, because clutter and confusion will make you feel even more nervous and scattered. Some people with this aspect want to have everything organized and are upset by disorder because they intuitively understand that disorder is bad for them. Even if you are not aware of this, it is true for you too.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger.

You need to be encouraged to believe in yourself and to recognize your personal strength. You have to be helped to realize that you as an individual are worth a lot and that you need to get some satisfaction from life as much as the next person does.

You may find it rather difficult to express yourself to other people. This is another expression of your lack of self-confidence, which will change if you get positive emotional support from the people around you.

Uranus Inconjunct Pluto (1892-1894 and 1911-1912)

This aspect indicates changes in the world of the people who were born at these times, changes that were difficult to understand because they were very revolutionary but subtle in many ways. The people born during the first period experienced the consequences of these changes through having to fight in the First World War. The second group reached maturity at the time of the Great Depression. Both the First World War and the Depression were expressions of the breakdown of the nineteenth-century world order that was dominated by Western Europe.

Is There a Common Element?

I had two other blonde bombshells in mind when I first thought about Dolly’s predecessors in the world of entertainment: Mae West and Peggy Lee. Neither of them fit her profile (and they both lived during some of Dolly’s life). But putting all four birth charts together did give me a glimpse of ‘something’.

Peggy Lee, Jean Harlow and Mae West line up their Nodal axes between 11° and 14° Taurus/Scorpio. That’s interesting. And Dolly and Peggy Lee have conjunct Virgo Ascendants. Even Dolly’s North Node is conjunct Jean Harlow’s Midheaven and Mae West’s Moon. Dolly’s Moon is conjunct Peggy’s Saturn. So there are some common elements. But not so perfectly clear as to give me the ‘a-ha’ moment.

Dolly herself admits that her image is based on a hooker she saw in town, when she was young. So there you go.

Ha!

And The World Will Live As One…

Earthrise

In a communique from the Baha’i Foundation dated October, 1985, the following statement was made:

Unbridled nationalism, as distinguished from a sane and legitimate patriotism, must give way to a wider loyalty, to the love of humanity as a whole. Bahá’u’lláh’s statement is: “The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.” The concept of world citizenship is a direct result of the contraction of the world into a single neighbourhood through scientific advances and of the indisputable interdependence of nations. Love of all the world’s peoples does not exclude love of one’s country. The advantage of the part in a world society is best served by promoting the advantage of the whole. Current international activities in various fields which nurture mutual affection and a sense of solidarity among peoples need greatly to be increased.

The Promise of World Peace

This is even more necessary now than it was then.

Just Imagine…

And We… Will Always Love Her, Forever

Dolly Parton (January 19, 1946)

Not being a country music fan, I came to Dolly Parton much later than most people. If memory serves, it was 1980 when I first saw Dolly in “9 to 5”. But before that, I had bought her best-selling album “Here You Come Again”, which I played until my stereo needle got tired of grooving out to her tunes.

(Oh, by the way, this post was prompted by Cash Peters‘ analysis of her handwriting on his latest YouTube video, posted just yesterday.)

This chart was already on my computer, and the timing is considered ‘excellent’, so I won’t change a thing. The double T-square pointing at Jupiter represents her popularity. The Mars/Saturn exact conjunction at one end of the opposition to the Sun/Venus combination at the other, speaks of her ability to keep her personal life entirely (and fiercely) private. Also, Mercury square Neptune allows her to hide behind her ‘tart with a heart’ persona she has developed over time. There are three inconjuncts.

Sun Inconjunct Moon

This aspect suggests that there is a subtle conflict going on inside you that may sometimes create emotional problems. The Sun signifies your conscious personality, the way in which you act and the kinds of activities that you like to get involved in. The Moon signifies the emotional and less conscious side of you. It indicates the habits that take over when you are not acting consciously and feelings that come up from deep inside you. The inconjunct aspect between the Sun and Moon means that the Sun part of your personality is quite different from the Moon part, and it may be hard for you to relate them to each other. It is as if you are divided in two, so that whenever you have to make an important decision, especially one that involves your feelings, the different sides of your personality want to go in opposite directions. You sometimes find it difficult to decide if you like something or if you want to take part in some activity.

The only solution is to accept both sides of your personality, for they are both you, and it is important to express them both. It is only your attitude of rejection that makes one side good and the other side bad.

Mercury Inconjunct Uranus

Your mind moves quickly from topic to topic, often without pausing long enough for you to understand what you have learned. And if there is a lot of excitement or activity around you, your mind may race so fast to keep up with it all that you work yourself into a state of nervous frenzy. Under those circumstances it is almost impossible for you to concentrate or do any useful mental work.

As you get older, you will have to learn to discipline your mind so that you can think things through. It’s all right to be somewhat restless but you must learn to stay put when it is important to concentrate.

This aspect might mean that you have nervous problems, such as a tendency to get exhausted or a sensitive disposition that requires a very calm environment in order to prevent further problems.

Mercury Inconjunct Midheaven

It is very important that you develop your mind and your powers of thought, so that you can use them to attain whatever objectives you set for yourself. You may feel that there is a tension between your natural spontaneous views and what is taught by your parents and other adults. Even though their teachings seem perfectly reasonable, you want to think matters through for yourself. But while you are young, you may not be able to accept your own ideas as valid if they contradict what you have been taught. Yet you cannot simply suppress your own ways of thinking. If you try, you will create tension and probably create a gap between what you are trying to do and what you say. When you are older you may express this tension by making indiscreet remarks that totally get in the way of your objectives.

And that is why we will always love her.

Was This Man the Original Hermit Playwright?

George Bernard Shaw (July 26, 1856 – November 2, 1950)

1925

From my own perspective, I find people in general fascinating, but irritating beyond measure individually. The same could be said of Bernard Shaw, as he preferred to be called. Evidently, he had a hut in his garden (where he did his writing) that he named “London” so that whenever his wife got a telephone call asking to speak with him, she could honestly say, ‘He’s away in London.’

This chart was already on my computer, so I’m leaving it as it is. Looking for the tell-tale signs, I immediately went to the North and South Nodes to see where they were situated in his birth chart. The axis of North Node in Aries, South Node in Libra looks suspiciously familiar. They are respectively in the 11th House and 5th House. Ooh, ooh, me first…

The inconjuncts may be indicators of why he liked his own solitude best.

Mercury Inconjunct Midheaven

It is very important that you develop your mind and your powers of thought, so that you can use them to attain whatever objectives you set for yourself. However, before you can accomplish this, you may have to solve certain problems. You may feel that there is a tension between your natural spontaneous views and what is taught by your parents and other adults. Even though their teachings seem perfectly reasonable, you want to think matters through for yourself.

Recognize this tension within yourself and try to accept the fact that it exists. At the same time you should look for ways to resolve [this situation] by learning how to think what you want to think and still accomplish your objectives.

It is very important that you remember not to speak impulsively. If you do, it is very likely that you will put your foot in your mouth. Consider what you are going to say and how your words can further your objectives.

Mars Inconjunct Uranus

You have a tendency to be rash and impulsive, which may get in your way. If matters proceed too slowly, you are likely to make a sudden move that upsets the whole situation and forces you to start over again. You must learn to be patient if you want to achieve your objectives.

This energy may also be expressed as a hot temper, especially when you have to endure restriction or limitation, such as sitting still in a [formal situation] for a long time. You have a rebellious streak that needs to be disciplined, because everyone has to endure some restrictions, and it takes so little to trigger your temper.

Sometimes you may make sudden moves that startle people. You may make a decision very quickly and start to act on it immediately, but that is not such a good idea. Make up your mind more slowly, or at least wait for a while until you start to act. If your idea still looks good a couple of days later, it is probably all right to go ahead with it.

A Couple of Final Quotes

.

Amen.
