In American Politics, Turnabout is Fair Play

Birth of the Democratic Party (January 8, 1828)

Having looked at the birth of the G.O.P. yesterday, I thought it only fair to do the same for the Democrats, today. Because my own leanings are slightly left of centre, this should be interesting.

The Democratic Party is the oldest voter-based political party in the world and the oldest existing political party in the United States. The party’s modern institutions were formed in the 1830s and 1840s. Known as the party of the “common man,” the early Democratic Party stood for individual rights and state sovereignty, but opposed banks and high tariffs. During the Second Party System (from 1832 to the mid-1850s) under Presidents Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren and James K. Polk, the Democrats usually bested the opposition Whig Party by narrow margins.

The Democratic Party has changed significantly during its more than two centuries of existence. During the 19th century the party supported or tolerated slavery, and it opposed civil rights reforms after the American Civil War in order to retain the support of Southern voters. From 1860 to 1932 in the era of the American Civil War to the Great Depression, the opposing Republican Party, organized in the mid-1850s from the ruins of the Whig Party and some other smaller splinter groups, was dominant in presidential politics. The Democrats elected only two Presidents during this period: Grover Cleveland (in 1884 and 1892) and Woodrow Wilson (in 1912 and 1916). Over the same period, the Democrats proved more competitive with the Republicans in Congressional politics, enjoying House of Representatives majorities (as in the 65th Congress) in 15 of the 36 Congresses elected, although only in five of these did they form the majority in the Senate. Furthermore, the Democratic Party was split between the Bourbon Democrats, representing Eastern business interests; and the agrarian elements comprising poor farmers in the South and West. The agrarian element, marching behind the slogan of free silver (i.e. in favor of inflation), captured the party in 1896 and nominated William Jennings Bryan in the 1896, 1900 and 1908 presidential elections, although he lost every time. Both Bryan and Wilson were leaders of the progressive movement in the United States (1890s–1920s) and opposed imperialistic expansion abroad while sponsoring liberal reforms at home.

Wikipedia

In fact, it wasn’t until FDR came along that the American people decided to back the New Deal, by voting Democrat. Only Eisenhower broke the string of Democratic presidents before Nixon brought the pendulum swing back into operation between the two parties.

This chart is randomized. I was surprised to see that the Ascendant was @ 0° Gemini, inconjunct to Mercury @ 2° Capricorn. Because this is not a ‘proven’ birth time for the party, it may not apply.

Mercury Inconjunct Ascendant

You are likely to have some problems, but not serious ones, in communicating with others. The problem is that people’s first impressions of you may not fit in with what you say or your manner of thinking and speaking. People tend to hear what they expect to hear, and they may not listen to you as carefully as they should. So you will have to be as clear as possible and insist that others listen to what you are really saying. If others do not understand you, it is up to you to set them straight.

The pattern also works in reverse in that what you say may make people respond in ways that you can’t accept. For example, you may be outspoken and frank but dislike it when others are, preferring to be treated gently and sensitively.

(Is this why the donkey was chosen as their mascot?)

Let’s Call It Being in Two Minds about Everything

The Party on the Left is Now the Party on the Right

Birth of the Republican Party (March 20, 1854)

After writing about Warren Harding yesterday afternoon, I began to remind myself that the Republican Party was a progressive platform to abolish slavery, or, at least, to limit its use in the Northern States. In effect, its strength lay in that half of the country. Now, it’s flipped its voter base, in the present time.

The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP (“Grand Old Party“), is one of the two major political parties in the United States. It is the second-oldest extant political party in the United States; its chief rival, the Democratic Party, is the oldest.

The Republican Party emerged in 1854 to combat the Kansas–Nebraska Act and the expansion of slavery into American territories. The early Republican Party consisted of northern Protestants, factory workers, professionals, businessmen, prosperous farmers, and after 1866, former black slaves. The party had very little support from white Southerners at the time, who predominantly backed the Democratic Party in the Solid South, and from Catholics, who made up a major Democratic voting block. While both parties adopted pro-business policies in the 19th century, the early GOP was distinguished by its support for the national banking system, the gold standard, railroads, and high tariffs. The party opposed the expansion of slavery before 1861 and led the fight to destroy the Confederate States of America (1861–1865). While the Republican Party had almost no presence in the Southern United States at its inception, it was very successful in the Northern United States, where by 1858 it had enlisted former Whigs and former Free Soil Democrats to form majorities in nearly every Northern state.

Wikipedia

This chart is randomized, because I wanted to see what energies were available during that day in 1854. And the pivotal position of Mars @ 0° Scorpio tends to say it all. There is one inconjunct, not dependent on accurate timing.

Sun Inconjunct Mars

You have a rather strong will, which may be difficult to control. This is because your way of doing something tends to interfere with what you want to gain by doing it. Your actions in some situations may surprise people by contradicting what they have learned about you. Inside of yourself, you may begin to feel that you can’t approve of the way you act, or you may feel that you can’t deal comfortably with the results of your actions. In other words, you get yourself into real jams.

The only real cure for these problems is to think before you act. Most of them come about because you act impulsively and hastily or out of anger and frustration. Such actions will usually work against you, not because those impulses are wrong, but because they don’t work out as you expect. Your angry style is different from your usual style of acting, when you are more in control of yourself.

Now I see why the colour of their banner is red.

And, an elephant NEVER forgets.

The Wellspring*: Wealth, What Wealth?

November 8, 2021: *New Channelling (XXX)

Instead of waiting for the New World Order,

it is better to see the changes that are already happening. Humanity has the knowledge to relieve much pain and suffering, but lacks the will to use so much of this knowledge, beyond efforts of chaos and disruption.

The ultimate challenge is learning to live together in harmony and cooperation. You are told the “love is all” but for many these are just words. Defensiveness and competition are the motivating forces on so many planetary decisions, without regard for the long-term consequences. Selfishness and greed are now rewarded as expressions of success and used as weapons to outsmart others.

There is more than enough for everyone, yet you regard the accumulation of coin as the only thing of value, when it is really green energy that will bring about improvements.

Dissatisfaction so often comes from the frustrated aspiration for financial wealth, without recognising wealth can take many other forms. There is the wealth of opportunity, natural talent, intellectual development, practical skill, all which can enrich the life of the individual; and the greatest wealth is the natural beauty of the planet which is available to everyone. Learn to value the wealth each one has all around them on the path to the New World Order.

The Day Harding Put A Cat Amongst the Pigeons

Warren G. Harding (November 2, 1865 – August 2, 1923)

Imagine, if you will, an American president using the 50th anniversary of the founding of Birmingham, Alabama, to talk about race relations to a segregated crowd. Oh, boy…

Before we look at that, let’s look at Harding‘s birth chart.

This chart was already on my Kepler 7.0 program, so I’m going to accept it as accurate. There is a Yod pointing a Venus, which relates to his wife. She claimed that she was the reason for his success.

The inconjuncts creating this Yod are from Pluto and the Ascendant.

Venus Inconjunct Pluto

With this aspect you must learn a great deal about the kinds of friends you want and the kinds of experiences you will have through other people. Even while you are still young, you may meet persons who are quite difficult to get along with, but who seem to be impossible to get away from, even when you want to. You may be fascinated by such persons, or circumstances may force you to stay with them. These people do have a definite role to play in your life, but it may not always be a pleasant one. They will teach you something about life or about yourself.

Venus Inconjunct Ascendant

You should realize that others will respect you if you stand up for yourself and ask for a reasonable return in a relationship. If you constantly seem to be apologizing for who and what you are, people begin to wonder if they have overlooked something that is wrong with you, and they begin to lose confidence in you. Thus you may bring about the criticism that you are afraid of. You are as good and as worthy of being loved as anyone. Be yourself with others, and many people will love you.

Evidently, Harding came from a family of abolitionists.

Sun Inconjunct Neptune

You are very sensitive to your environment and to the people around you. On one level of your being, you feel what is going on very acutely. Unfortunately your understanding comes in terms that are very difficult to communicate to others, because their meaning is not clear in your own mind. Your greatest danger is in being exposed to negative people who are full of anger or depression or who act very harshly toward you and undermine your self-confidence.

You can develop into a compassionate and understanding person who instinctively knows what others need and how to serve them. True selfless service to others, giving of yourself voluntarily rather than because you feel there is no choice, will make you feel good, just as the negative behavior will make you and everyone else feel bad.

That Speech (October 21, 1921)

Let’s see how that moment in time looks, astrologically:

That Pluto @ 10° Cancer 3′ in opposition to Capricorn Rising @ 8° 6′, would have been enough to upset the Democratic South, especially where slavery is concerned. It seemed that a Republican president, even a progressive one, could tweak their noses in a very public way: note the Jupiter inconjunct Uranus aspect. It is only when you compare these two charts together that you see Harding couldn’t have done it any other way.

Both charts’ Part of Fortune are conjunct within 1° in Virgo, while both charts’ North/South Nodes are about 2° apart, but in the same Libra/Aries alignment. Having been elecetd overwhelmingly by women’s newly-acquired right to vote, the Venus position in the event chart is midpoint between the conjunction of Harding’s natal Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. I think that’s reason enough, for now.

The Wellspring*: The Fifth Dimension

November 6, 2021: *New Channelling (XXIX)

Earth energies are flowing to stimulate the changes to new formations.

These are influencing the physical nature of the planet to break down those things that are unstable, to prepare the surface for realignment and cleansing. The weak structures will fall first to enable fresh opportunities of creation, with the current knowledge available. In future times, the knowledge of the elemental building blocks of physical matter will be increased, revealing new possibilities of creation on the planet surface.

Though a more profound use of the knowledge accrued through analysis and inspiration, mankind will start to exercise new talents and abilities. The Aquarian Age now is upon you ,which will bring better appreciation of both the creative and destructive potential you have. With the deeper development of inner peace, which is the next test for mankind, there will be diminishing the competitive warmongering, and enormous strides can be made in exploring further potential in matter and form.

The realisation that you all must work together to proceed in the evolution of the species towards Fifth Dimensional Being is confronting you now. To rely on old competitive and defensive practises will have no place, and those of the lower energies will find being here intolerable. Even in the Fifth Dimension, there will be different forces to stimulate change, just as irritating forces motivate change in the Third Dimension, but the rationale will be different. You will be working together in cooperation, using diverse talents in exciting and novel ways.

How a Liberal Thinker can Appear Conservative

Jordan Peterson (June 12, 1962)

To be totally frank, I have only heard the name Jordan Peterson in passing. Last night, Susan’s grandson, Jacob, was explaining to me some of the ideas that this man has presented on YouTube. The example Jacob used was on the gender disparity of wages in the workplace. I won’t expound on the theory here, but it kind of ‘ticked the boxes’ of my own thinking. So, I knew I had to have an astrological look, today.

The timing of this birth chart is considered AA by Rodden, as the original collector of the data obtained a copy of Peterson’s birth certificate. So, I think we can relay upon its accuracy. The first thing to note is the fact that he has Taurus Rising. That alone can make him appear conservative, even though he describes himself politically as “classic British liberal“. The rest of the chart confirms this.

Sun Inconjunct Midheaven

While you are young, you will find it difficult to decide what to do with your life. The demands of the world may sometimes be hard to handle, because they don’t seem to take advantage of your natural abilities and instincts. Also, much of your time will be taken up with learning routine skills that do not seem at first to have much connection with reality. But don’t try to rush your life. Even if you can’t see why you should learn a skill, try it out anyway. Later on, its purpose may become clear.

Moon Inconjunct Jupiter

This aspect usually means that your need for emotional security conflicts with your need to live with the world’s demands. Each of us needs to be accepted and loved for what we are, in order to have enough self-confidence to deal with the world. But we also have to learn to live with our own life situations in order to survive. In other words, we have to realize that we can’t have everything we want. With this aspect, these two needs are working against each other. Probably you will satisfy one of them at the expense of the other.

Mercury Inconjunct Uranus

Your mind moves quickly from topic to topic, often without pausing long enough for you to understand what you have learned. And if there is a lot of excitement or activity around, your mind may race so fast to keep up with it all that you work yourself into a state of nervous frenzy. Under these circumstances it is almost impossible for you to concentrate or do any useful mental work.

On the other hand, you are quite inventive. You can see solutions to problems quicker than most, and you may be good at designing. In school you may excel at mathematics and science, as long as you can learn to sit still long enough to learn the subject.

This aspect might mean that you have nervous problems, such as a tendency to get exhausted or a sensitive disposition that requires a very calm environment in order to prevent further problems.

A Recent Video Interview Released Four Days Ago

I particularly appreciate Jordan’s translation of ‘the meek’ in this video. It starts when he says the following:

In other words, a peaceful warrior…

The Last Words are His

Amen.

The Wellspring*: Two Sessions Exactly Five Years Apart

August 7, 2013/2018: *Interim Channelling

Close-up of a dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)

2013: Seeds of Inspiration

Seeds of inspiration drop on you all the time, it is incumbent on you to work with them in order to decide your movement. Inspiration is only guidance; it does not deny you free will. Possibilities are all they are. You are the creator of your own destiny, you are a creator. The god inside you creates scenarios and gives you opportunities to work with. The outcome is not predestined. The interplay of all energy is all round you weaving a tapestry of great complexity and beauty. It is a mistake to assume that conflict does not have a creative beauty in the greater scheme of things. It is part of the human potential and experience. Without conflict much necessary change would not happen as it is the human trait to fear change because the outcome is so uncertain. You are not meant to have certainty. That would lead to stagnation and dissolution.

Love is the great glue that binds all things, but even that can have many manifestations and forms. Do not look for one defining form of it. Tough love is a more recent term used and is appropriate in many cases. To live a life up to the expectation of others, in the name of love, very often denies truth. Pain also is an agent of change and new creative thought. Do not be limited by the fear of causing pain to others as it is likely that others need the impulse to change and grow. So long as that inflicted is not motivated by vindictiveness or revenge, there is purity within such action. Live each day fully in your truth but try to use the seeds of inspiration as a guide.

2018: Little Bits of Music

Little bits of music will bring into focus many of the issues you are confronting. They will work on the emotional level to assist the release of much which has been locked in. Let the tears flow, if they are brought forth, it is cleansing. For too long old emotional associations have crippled your progress, blocking the courage to break out. You had the excitement of the unknown in your youth, but with the passing years barriers have been erected to guard you, due to disappointments and hurts, binding you from many possibilities and potentials you could have embraced. Self doubt also glued the blocks of resistance into place. Little did you realise how hemmed in and limited you had become.

The changing times are about the release of those blockages so that a totally new way to experience life on Earth is there for you. The old ways need to be released ,for those who are ready, to enable them to live at a different vibration within the community. These words appear abstract at present, but within you changes are happening. This is the reason that a depression has been descending on you with feelings of pointlessness. This will pass; be patient. The changes cannot happen overnight, but must integrate to order to sit comfortably within the psyche. It is the human frame that is changing, not the eternal soul it contains. That is becoming more evident within human presentation. It is a process of integration or overshadowing.

The questions you have been asking relate to the forthcoming times. Much is in a state of flux and needs refinement as people readjust their energies. Just because you want something, does not mean it is right for another. Breathing in the power of the times will enable you to exist with whatever is the outcome. We do not promise anything that is not possible. You have to understand the situation clearly and not form a petty perspective. Remember that life is eternal and you are not limited by time. Everything comes to those who wait, but use the waiting time usefully, filling it with as much energy and purpose as you can.

Listen to the music within you. Listen to the strains of a melody that is heard by no one else. It brings solace and peace to a heart that has been denied for so long, but which has enabled you to develop strengths which would have remained dormant.

The truth of any situation is there before you, if you will but see it…Trust your inner strength and inner voice.

The need to do something is there for all; however, at this moment, rest and recuperation is the best use of your time. The demands of the previous years have left their mark, and the lethargy you feel is bringing all into focus. Bring the world of creation into your arena and enjoy your time drawing or painting to assist the clearing of the mind. The concentration of applying line and colour can assist the process of relaxation to see the overview with the perspective of the soul, which will then dissolve all fears and blockages due to emotional hurts which have begun to restrict clear sight. These do not need to be works of art, doodles and sketches will do.

How are you going to feel when the time comes to move forward? Will you recognise the opportunities or flounder with doubt? This fear you have of asking for and accepting what you truly want has been one of your lessons. This thought that you should want or fear to spend money is not really based on lack of funds, but the desire to stretch everything out. You can be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Look inside to decide whether you are just making do.

Since you have learnt the lessons of economy, you also need to learn the lessons of abundance. By not believing in your right to have those experiences you yearn for, things continue to elude you. It is important that others recognise that you also have needs which they could satisfy. By reticence you deprive them of the spur to action. Your contribution is recognised by yourself sufficiently, but blocks their awareness of your needs. Be direct with your requests.

Little though you realise it, the time will shortly answer your prayers. Do not have preconceived ideas how this will be done, it depends on many factors in the offing. Free will must always be observed as you are all creators. Do not limit expectations. Live in the moment and take opportunities which present themselves. Unite the purpose of all you seek. Prayers do get answered. Trust.

Okay, Folks: This is Getting Out of Hand

It’s a Head Cold, for Goodness Sake!

On Sunday, we visited a branch of our extended family tree. The youngest member is only 19 months old. He had a streaming cold. We probably shouldn’t have gone, but our having two doses of the Pfizer vaccine tends to give us ‘Dutch courage’. We didn’t mask up.

Now, just so that we’re all on the same page, this child has had two COVID-19 tests, just in case. The tests came back ‘negative’, so that’s a relief. But, to demonstrate how paranoid the world has become, most other family members advised that I should consult a doctor: for a cold?!

The last time I had a cold was shortly after my daughter, Rosanna, returned to the UK after a visit, to celebrate my 70th birthday (February 2020). With social distancing and mask mandates, no one has been spreading germs of any sort for 20 months. Seemingly, that’s about to change as society begins to open up again. Immuno-compromised people, such as myself (I’m a Type 2 diabetic), need to have a high-dose ‘flu’ shot, as well as a third ‘booster’ shot of the Pfizer vaccine. I had my ‘flu’ shot yesterday (hence the cold symptoms becoming evident last night) and we’re scheduled to get the ‘booster’ on the 22nd of November. This is for “protection” and peace of mind.

But, in the back of my mind, I have Quimby reminding me that ‘disease’ is a belief system, based on the medical opinions of doctors, nurses and other health care workers. So, perhaps, I need to just repeat Émile Coué‘s oft-quoted autosuggestion:

See you on the flip-side…

The Wellspring*: Newton’s Third Law?

August 2, 2013: *Interim Channelling

If your wish is to avoid the impulses and deny the truth of a situation, you will fail to recognise your own inner nature, which is to see and feel all things. Life in this sphere is designed to lead you through experiences which will unlock the mysteries of human form. As you progress along this path you will see unfolding before you the new horizons of experience which will take you to new levels. If you did not do this, much of your human potential would be missed. Believe in those impulses which drive you forward. At times you will question the wisdom of emotion which involves others, as you fear to interfere. We urge you to follow those impulses as they are given to you to assist others at times of need. We can only help them through you. You will know the right words; it is not manipulation if your heart and intent is pure. But what is pure? Everything has an equal and opposite reaction which will create manifestation in due course. Just do your best and trust yourself.

A Pawn Piece (1978 play): Insights

Playing the Games of Life on a Chessboard

Originally written as a poem (“Upon Peace”) in 1965, as a protest about the ways of the world, I adapted it into a play in 1978, using my son (Derek) as the protagonist. He is the Pawn piece.

Act I: War!

I was walking through an open field in Angus in 1965 and came across an abandoned Chevy truck. It was the start of an idea. Because Chevrolet is part of General Motors, I thought that the truck could be a military man. The name comes from Hogan’s Heroes: Colonel Klink. I changed one letter and now he’s Colonel Klunk. On the chessboard, he represents the Knight. The miscommunication between Klunk and Derek is symbolic of what happens between countries that eventually leads to war.

Act II: Cops and Robbers

Jean Claude Scolder is a Blue Jay who lives and works the streets in Montreal. He is French, naturally, and he is full of criticism about the local and national police forces. Originally, I had intended that he be called J.C. (implying Jesus Christ), but then I realized that it’ll be a ‘cold day in Hell’ before I should do that. That’s how Scolder got his name. It fits.

Sgt. W.W. Watson was named for Whipper Billy Watson, the Canadian wrestler from the late 1950’s, early 1960’s. The bulldog image came to my mind while writing the poem. His bark being worse than his bite is the message that I wanted to share. But being an Anglophile in Quebec would make all his actions completely suspect to the French citizens.

The two characters represent the Rooks.

Act III: I Spy

Not being able to see the forest for the trees seemed appropriate somehow with these two characters. They represent the Bishops, because they never move onto the same space, following either black tiles or white, diagonally.

L.M.N. Tree (Elm, for short) is an old guy who never wanted children. May Paul (Maple) is a elderly woman who has always longed for at least one child. They argue constantly. Remember, I wrote this play when I was only 28, now I’m living the reality of a senior lifestyle. My ear for dialog must have eavesdropped on my present marriage. This never ceases to amaze me. My maternal grandmother’s name was May, but I didn’t know that then. (I gave my daughter, Rosanna, the same middle name.)

Act IV: Riddles

Questra C is the Queen. As a feline creature, she poses an enigma for Derek. Who is she? Who is he? Does life have any meaning? Like the last guardian at the gates of the afterlife, Questra makes sure that Derek has all the answers to life. In my consciousness, Questra is a guardian angel. No matter what Derek wants to understand, she shows him that he already knows, from within himself. She may also have been someone he knew in a prior life.

Act V: King of the Castle

Rev. Regent Roxy is the King, who is about to be checkmated. As you can imagine, this character is based on an individual (unnamed) who moved in with my father, Ruskin, after Mom moved west to Saskatchewan in 1969.

Ultimately, Roxy’s job is to remind Derek that family is important, which he does by passing my poem along to my son. (And in case the symbolism is a bit too obscure, Derek is my stand-in. My father used to write poetry, too, and his father was a minister…)

Conclusion

My thinking is multilayered. I chose the idea of Derek living a dream for one day to symbolize the journey that we each must navigate to achieve our goals in life. Derek always says ‘pardon me’ to these characters when he first meets them and at the end of each encounter he says ‘thank you’. That’s my way of suggesting that we be polite to everyone we meet, and to be especially grateful for the life’s lessons they provide. Derek is now almost 50 years of age. I think he has learned his lessons well.

And, hopefully, so have I. Bless.
