Christian Science: Mind Over Matter

Mary Baker Eddy (July 16, 1821 – December 3, 1910)

Circa 1850

After doing further research, yesterday, I came across this lady who had an interesting life. Anyone familiar with Christian Science will already know about her, but it’s the way she overcame a childhood illness that is the basis of her beliefs.

(From Wikipedia) “In 1836 when Eddy was about 14-15, she moved with her family to the town of Sanbornton Bridge, New Hampshire, approximately twenty miles (32 km) north of Bow. Sanbornton Bridge would subsequently be renamed in 1869 as Tilton.

My father was taught to believe that my brain was too large for my body and so kept me much out of school, but I gained book-knowledge with far less labor than is usually requisite. At ten years of age I was as familiar with Lindley Murray’s Grammar as with the Westminster Catechism; and the latter I had to repeat every Sunday. My favorite studies were natural philosophy, logic, and moral science. From my brother Albert, I received lessons in the ancient tongues, Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

“Ernest Bates and John Dittemore write that Eddy was not able to attend Sanbornton Academy when the family first moved there but was required instead to start at the district school (in the same building) with the youngest girls. She withdrew after a month because of poor health, then received private tuition from the Reverend Enoch Corser. She entered Sanbornton Academy in 1842.

“She was received into the Congregational church in Tilton on 26 July 1838 when she was 17, according to church records published by McClure’s in 1907. Eddy had written in her autobiography in 1891 that she was 12 when this happened, and that she had discussed the idea of predestination with the pastor during the examination for her membership; this may have been an attempt to reflect the story of a 12-year-old Jesus in the Temple. She wrote in response to the McClure’s article that the date of her church membership may have been mistaken by her. Eddy objected so strongly to the idea of predestination and eternal damnation that it made her ill:

My mother, as she bathed my burning temples, bade me lean on God’s love, which would give me rest if I went to Him in prayer, as I was wont to do, seeking His guidance. I prayed; and a soft glow of ineffable joy came over me. The fever was gone and I rose and dressed myself in a normal condition of health. Mother saw this and was glad. The physician marveled; and the “horrible decree” of Predestination – as John Calvin rightly called his own tenet – forever lost its power over me”

This chart was already on my Kepler 7.0 program, so I’m leaving the timing as it is. Even so, that close conjunction of Uranus and Neptune (in Capricorn) must account for the sickly nature of Eddy as a young infant. Because these planets are trine to Jupiter and Saturn conjunct (in Aries), she may have truly believed she was connected to Jesus. There is no other way I can express this: her delusions may have been so ‘real’ to her that she created a whole ‘new’ science to explain them. There is one inconjunct.

Sun Inconjunct Ascendant

Your relationships with other people can be very intense. While you are young, they may seem quite difficult, because you feel that others will accept you only if you deny yourself in some way. Or you may constantly feel that you should put off doing what you want in order to do what you have to do. Usually your ideas about what you have to do come from the people around you. Also, contacts with other people will frequently force you to make serious, major psychological changes. Difficulties in your relationships with friends and family are signs of profound internal changes.

You may find that no matter how hard you try to show others who you really are, they misunderstand you somehow. This is because the angular relationship between your rising sign and Sun sign indicates that your internal energies are quite different from the energies that you show to the world. You are not intentionally dishonest with the world, you simply present a confusing complex of energies. As you get older, you will learn more about your effect on people, which will enable you to put the two sides of your personality together so that they work smoothly. Be patient and do not hurry. Look at each relationship as an opportunity to learn more about yourself through your effects upon others. You will know you have learned this when you no longer attract people who are psychologically difficult to deal with.

Family Connection?

I probably have more research to do, to fully understand this cousin of Pirani Ameena Begum (Ora Ray Baker), wife of Hazrat Inayat Khan. And my mind keeps wondering who she is today.

Hmm.

Reincarnation: An Overlooked Connection?

I Khan See Clearly Now

Holding Noor

In terms of research, this should have been obvious to me, but at the time was not. I asked the question, then, if Lars Muhl was Inayat Khan reborn. The results were inconclusive, so I dropped that line of thinking. But then I pondered how Lars Muhl and I are connected, without going any further with that idea, either.

It took a random comment about the Mary Magdalene line of strong women in connection with Noor Inayat-Khan to bring it all back into clear focus.

I’m not going to exhaust you with the connections I see, except to point out that my usually unaspected Uranus @ 1° Cancer in the 7th House (of relationships) is conjunct Khan’s Mercury. That feels significant. Couple that with my Pluto conjunct his Venus and my Saturn conjunct his Uranus and I believe we have the obvious ‘father’ links. Each Midheaven is located @ 7° Virgo (although I randomized the timing of his chart).

Khan’s death chart is also randomized, but there are accidental match-ups that are still surprisingly significant: his ‘fatal’ Midheaven is conjunct my North Node @ 10° Aries, for example. And his ‘fatal’ North Node is conjunct my Uranus. His ‘fatal’ Sun is conjunct my Jupiter @ 15° Aquarius, while his ‘fatal’ Mercury is conjunct my Sun @ 20° Aquarius.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we are One, as in a big spiritual family. There is room for everyone, and that alone should be Sufi-scient for our understanding. Love y’all.

A Case for Reincarnation or Something Else?

Indira Gandhi and Jeanne d’Arc

In my experience, our childhood heroes have a definite effect on our lives. But is it a case for reincarnation or something else? Let’s look at these two women astrologically together.

Wow! In truth, I wasn’t expecting to see such clear indications of a past life connection between their two birth charts. The Yods are reciprocal (meaning that they point to chart connections both ways) and the only Yod focused on the past, by itself, is the one pointing at Uranus @ 8° Aquarius in Jeanne’s chart. The inconjuncts are formed by Mars @ 9° Scorpio and Pluto @ 5° Cancer in Indira’s chart. That must mean something prophetic about Indira’s death.

I think that Jeanne’s South Node/Mars conjunction is also conjunct Indira’s Mars is also a sign of reincarnation (as in, who incarnated first, Indira or Jeanne?) Plus, Jeanne’s Ascendant/Venus conjunction in Capricorn is conjunct Indira’s Venus @ 13°. Finally, Jeanne’s Sun is conjunct Indira’s Moon (also in Capricorn). That’s enough for me to call it reincarnation…

There are 8 inconjuncts between Jeanne’s death chart and Indira’s birth chart, and most of them form interactive Yods again. And again, Jeanne’s ‘fatal’ South Node is conjunct Indira’s Leo Ascendant. At the same time, Indira’s Saturn @ 14° Leo is conjunct Jeanne’s ‘fatal’ Neptune. Jeanne’s ‘fatal’ Moon/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn is conjunct Indira’s Moon. Jeanne’s ‘fatal’ Mars is conjunct Indira’s PoF. Indira’s South Node (in Cancer) is within 5° of Jeanne’s ‘fatal’ Venus (in Gemini), while their Plutos are conjunct in Cancer, too. This is not a coincidence.

Other astrologers could definitely make a case for spiritual “overshadowing,” but Indira’s obsession with Jeanne’s life (and death) seems to be a recognition of her personal connection to the Maid of Orléans. They both ended up dying for their countries.

Orléans

By the way, I’ve been to Orléans, and stayed the night at a lovely hotel. There must be something in the water, for I felt totally refreshed the next day, before driving on to the South of France.

Cosmic Insight: Only Real VIPs are Assassinated

Indira Gandhi (November 19, 1917 – October 31, 1984)

This research started out as an innocent question. I asked a fellow astrologer if she’d had a strong connection to a famous person, in a past life. She wrote:

Oooooh that’s a good question…..and honestly one I don’t know the answer.

I do feel like there was SOME previous lifetime where I was “assassinated” but I don’t know if it’s the one most tied to this life or not.

So I searched for assassinated women in the 20th century. The instant result was Indira Gandhi.

Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated at 9:29 a.m. on 31 October 1984 at her residence in Safdarjung Road, New Delhi. She was killed by her Sikh bodyguard Satwant Singh and Beant Singh in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star.

Wikipedia

Normally, I look at the birth chart first, but I’m going to skip to the end of her life, first, to demonstrate a particular planetary lineup. Whenever all the planets are in one section of the chart, the event is significant (think, the dropping of an atom bomb on Japan, for example). This run starts with Pluto @ 2° Scorpio and continues on through Sagittarius and Capricorn, concluding with the Moon @ 3° Aquarius. (Only Chiron @ 7° Gemini, conjunct the Descendant is the handle for this bowl of sorrow.)

This bunching of planets was instantly recognizable as connected to my astrologer friend’s birth chart, so I knew instantly that I had hit the target.

This chart was already on my Kepler 7.0 computer program, so I cannot confirm if the timing is accurate. I suspect it may not be correct, due to the fact that her assassination is not evident. But, again, it may be the placement of Chiron @ 25° Pisces in the 8th House which may be the ‘proof’ of that final event. So I will let the timing of her birth chart remain at 11:11 pm.

There are two inconjuncts.

Mercury Inconjunct Pluto

You have a rather complicated and sometimes tricky mind. You usually prefer to do things in roundabout and involved ways instead of being simple and direct.

On the positive side, this means that you enjoy solving puzzles, tracking down mysteries and finding out about hidden matters. You have a natural ability to understand how people’s minds work, what makes them act as they do, and what they are thinking.

On the negative side, however, you might misuse this ability by trying to control people’s thoughts and words. You may enjoy working in secret and creating an air of mystery about yourself, but this could backfire and make others misunderstand you or even fear what you are doing. It is important to show people that you are honest and that you are not hiding anything. Otherwise they will probably suspect you, even if you are totally innocent. And if you aren’t, they will know it for sure.

On another level, this aspect can mean that at certain times in your life you will go through tremendous changes. All your thoughts and opinions will change completely. These stages may seem difficult, but you will be much better off if you let go of the past and welcome new ideas.

Venus Inconjunct Saturn

You need and want love, but you may not be able to get it easily. You may feel that your parents, teachers or other persons in authority make demands on you that you must fulfill before they will give you any love and support. If that is true, it is unfortunate, because you deserve respect and love as much as anyone. Although everyone must fulfill certain social demands, this should not be the condition for being loved. If this demand is carried to an extreme, you will become cold-hearted and unable to love others even when you want to. You may also feel that you cannot indulge yourself in any pleasure or even love. When you are older, you may feel that duty and ambition must come before love and human relationships. Unfortunately, if you follow that path, you will become very lonely, and when you realize that you belong to no one and nothing, you will go through a spiritual crisis.

They say that the other proof of connection between two people who may be reincarnated is the physical resemblance of their bodies, and especially their faces. Indira didn’t always frown…

Was This Event Real or Fake?

Phoenix Lights (March 13, 1997)

A fellow astrologer, Ariele Adams, has been looking at some UFO sightings (and encounters) in connection with the Galactic Center (and Jupiter retrograde). She mentioned this particular event as highly suspicious, intuitively. I’m going to look, too, based on the timing of the very first eyewitness’ statement.

At about 6:55pm PST (7:55pm MST), a man reported seeing a V-shaped object above Henderson, Nevada. He said it was about the “size of a (Boeing) 747”, sounded like “rushing wind”, and had six lights on its leading edge. The lights reportedly traversed northwest to the southeast.

Wikipedia

That Saturn conjunction to the Descendant @ 8° Aries is the first clue that this could be a government action. The Moon in opposition to Pluto is the motive (‘disclosure’ to a mass population). The Grand Trine linking the Moon, Mars and Neptune is further ‘proof’ of the fake nature of the event. But the two combined inconjuncts to the Midheaven will tell us why.

Jupiter Inconjunct Midheaven

This aspect can mean that you have mixed feelings towards adults and persons in authority over you. Although you know that they have your best interests at heart and that they want you to succeed at your own objectives, it often seems as if their demands are keeping you from doing what you want. When you want to go off and have fun, for example, you are told to finish your work first. At times you want to break free of this restricting influence and go off by yourself.

Uranus Inconjunct Midheaven

You need to express your thoughts and feelings, but you often upset the people around you with your words. You seem to enjoy creating a stir every time you say something, but this can get you into quite a bit of trouble with parents, teachers and other authority figures. The underlying principle of this aspect is the need to balance your individual self-expression and manner of communicating with your need to learn and grow under the guidance of older people.

Conclusion

Oh-oh. If I’m correctly reading between the lines, here, I would say that this was a ‘rogue’ action undertaken by a pilot who wanted to bring the subject of UFOs out into the public domain. This was not a ‘government’ action, per se, but one that was done using an Air Force flying machine of some sort. Is there any other proof of this?

Hidden in Plain Sight

Bruce McArthur’s Victims

Images courtesy of bbc.com (Andrew Kinsman is the man in glasses.)

This is a shameful episode in police indifference when eight gay men went missing in Toronto between 2010 and 2017. Rumours of a serial killer were ignored by the Toronto Police Service until Bruce McArthur was implicated in an investigation of a missing man, Andrew Kinsman, 49.

The first two charges laid against McArthur by police was for the murders of Kinsman and Esen.

It was Kinsman’s disappearance in June 2017 that sparked a community-wide search and rekindled rumours of a serial killer in the Gay Village.

Kinsman was active in the city’s LGBT community, and friends hung posters of the missing 49-year-old around the Village and nearby Cabbagetown when he went missing.

Soon after, police launched a task force, Project Prism, to investigate his and Esen’s disappearance.

“He wanted to make the world a better place for those struggling to survive,” his sister Karen Coles told the court in February.

His sister described him as someone who, under his “gruff demeanour”, cared deeply about other people and who championed social justice issues – “an extraordinary, quirky and caring individual”.

Police believe Kinsman was sexually involved with McArthur and they found the entry “Bruce” in Kinsman’s diary on June 26, 2017, the day police believe he was killed.

BBC.com

Most of the other men were of middle Eastern heritage, so may not have been considered ‘worthy’ of investigation. That’s the racial bias part. The rest was about them all being gay.

The Scientist and the Psychic

I didn’t write about McArthur and his murder victims when it became nationwide news, mainly because I didn’t want to sensationalize his name and reputation. But now I have a different angle to share with you, and it involves Geraldine Stringer, Christian Smith’s mother.

In late 2017, the disappearance of a gay man dominated the local Toronto news. The gay community had linked the disappearance of Andrew Kinsman to several other suspicious disappearances from the gay village. Initially, the police refused to officially connect the cases and admit an active serial killer was at large. I found Andrew Kinsman’s picture on the internet and showed it to my mother, who was stretched out on my living room couch playing on her iPad.

I didn’t tell her anything more than that he’d been missing for a couple of months and presumed dead. According to news reports, his disappearance was out of character, and he would never have left the cat he adored alone. I told her he was on my mind because missing posters were tacked up everywhere in my neighbourhood. I recognized him from the gay village, but I hadn’t formally met him.

Mum looked at his picture and without hesitation, said, “He’s dead.”

Then she said something that stuck with me: “His body is hiding in plain sight.” Her comment continued to nag at me as I walked my dog, Madeline, in the large park down the street from my home near the gay village. There are only a few parks in the downtown core bigger than a suburban backyard, so my mother’s statement baffled me. How could a body stay hidden for months in a major city if it were “in plain sight?” As Madeline and I strolled along the park’s pathways, I scrutinized the shrubbery, wondering if I would see a limb jutting up from the soil.

Three months later, there was a break in the case. Police arrested Bruce McArthur in connection with Kinsman’s disappearance, eventually finding several sets of human remains in planters used by McArthur in his landscaping business; police officially branded him a serial killer. My mother’s precognitive statement didn’t register until one article gave me pause. Beneath the large banner headline was a quote, which read: “Concealing dismembered remains in planter boxes ‘essentially in plain sight’ shows a level of brazenness, criminologist say.”

Essentially in plain sight. Mum’s words. What struck me was how the same phrase kept popping up in discussions about the McArthur case. Reporters and police officials repeated it daily. I again imagined a mental radio transmitter, and this time, my mother had tuned the dial to “the future” frequency and heard three words only she could perceive.

The Original Birth Chart from Kate’s Made In Heaven Program

Jesus (January 5, 6 BC)

Now compare it with my own printout from my Kepler 7.0 program.

Kate’s didn’t need to adjust for changes in calendars from Julian to Gregorian, and her program didn’t require a different negative year to accomplish the correct timing. Otherwise, our two Jesus birth charts are practically spot-on. In truth, I prefer Kate’s version. It’s more balanced than mine.

World History Contained in One Lightfoot Song

Protocol (1976)

The first time I heard this song was at Massey Hall, Toronto, sometime in 1976. As I was living in Vancouver during that time period, it would have been when I returned for a visit with my son. (I often caught Lightfoot concerts at Massey Hall, even when I wasn’t living in Ontario.)

Protocol

Who are these ones who would lead us now
To the sound of a thousand guns
Who’d storm the gates of hell itself
To the tune of a single drum?

Where are the girls of the neighborhood bars
Whose loves were lost at sea
In the hills of France and on German soil
From Saigon to Wounded Knee?

Who come from long lines of soldiers
Whose duty was fulfilled
In the words of a warrior’s will
And protocol

Where are the boys in their coats of blue
Who flew when their eyes were blind?
Was God in town for the Roman games
Was he there when the deals were signed?

Who are the kings in their coats of mail
Who rode by the cross to die?
Did they all go down into worthiness?
Is it wrong for a king to cry?
And who are these ones who would have us now
Whose presence is concealed
Whose nature is revealed
In a time bomb?

Last of all you old sea dogs
Who travel after whale
You’d storm the gates of hell itself
For the taste of a mermaid’s tail
Who come from long lines of skippers
Whose duty was fulfilled
In the words of a warrior’s will
And protocol

Forty-Six Years Ago Lightfoot Highlighted a Racial Issue

Cherokee Bend (1975)

Courtesy discogs.com

This song has been haunting my sleep. That probably means I need to write something about it. The story isn’t new, and in this case, fictionalized, but the recent news of unmarked graves at so many Residential Schools has finally brought it to the forefront of peoples’ attention.

Cherokee Bend (listen to clip @ Amazon), by Gordon Lightfoot, is one of his most haunting story songs. But, unlike his most famous one, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, it is not based on a true story but on fiction. It is loosely based on a Young Adult novel, When The Legends Die, by Hal Borland. (The physical book is now 3rd party only; it’s also available for the Kindle (device or app) here: Kindle version). The lyrics are gripping and compelling. The Borland book is frequently used in schools, in both traditional schools and the homeschooling setting.

Lightfoot has said he wrote the song after reading the adaptation published in Readers’ Digest. Like many of his songs, there is an underlying message or sentiment. This song, perhaps more so than the book, is about the mistreatment of Indians (Native Americans). The music is strongly evocative of the drumbeats you might associate with Indian rituals and music, with a driving beat behind the storytelling. Lightfoot performed the song live as recently as 2002.

Cherokee Bend (lyrics)

Cherokee Bend, ©1975 by Gordon Lightfoot

His father was a man who could never understand
The shame on a red man's face
So they lived in the hills and they never came down
But to trade in the white man's place
Early in the spring when the snow had disappeared
They came down with a bag of skins
In the fall of the year of 1910
Daddy died by the rope down in Cherokee Bend.

Daddy didn't like what the white man said
'Bout the dirty little kid at his side
Daddy didn't like what the white man did
Nor the deal or the way that he lied
There was blood on the floor of the government store
When the men took his daddy away
And the boy stayed back till he come to his end
And he run like the wind from Cherokee Bend.

Now the mother was alone and the winter was at hand
And she prayed to her spirit kin
It was warm in the lodge in the Kentucky hills
On the day when the boy came in
Then a blizzard came down and it covered up the door
Till they thought that it never would end
And he told her the tale of the terrible affair
In the government store down in Cherokee Bend

Daddy didn't like what the white man said
'Bout the dirty little kid at his side
Daddy didn't like what the white man did
Nor the deal or the way that he lied
For three long days and three long nights
They wept and they mourned and then
She returned to her work and her weavin'
And they tried to forget about Cherokee Bend

Now the boy wasn't big but he hunted what he could
And they lived for a time that way
But the food run low and the meat went bad
And she said to the boy one day
I'm leaving tonight and I never will return
From the land of my Spirit Kin
You must take what you need and trade what you can
For a Red Man's grave down in Cherokee Bend

It wasn't very long till she closed her eyes
And he wrapped her in a robe
He found her a place on the side of the hill
And he buried her in the snow
Early in the spring he was seen comin' down
With his load looking ragged and thin
Not a year had gone by when he stood once again
In the government store down in Cherokee Bend

He was ten years tall and a Redskin too
So he hadn't much face to save
And the men sat around and they laughed and they clowned
At the talk of a criminal's grave
Then a man from the east didn't smile when he said
You're the son of that Indian scum
If you value your hide then you better abide
By the white man's rules here in Cherokee Bend.

Daddy didn't like what the white man said
'Bout the dirty little kid at his side
Daddy didn't like what the white man did
Nor the deal or the way that he lied
Then he spit on the floor of the government store
And it served him to no good end
At the close of the day they had taken him away
To the white man's school down at Cherokee Bend

It's been 21 years since the boy disappeared
Where he run to, nobody knows
But they say he fell in with a man named Jim
And he rides in the rodeos
And they say he returned all alone to a place
Hidden deep in the Kentucky glen
And it's pretty well known who hauled up the stone
To the grave on the hill above Cherokee Bend

Daddy didn't like what the white man said
'Bout the dirty little kid at his side
Daddy didn't like what the white man did
Nor the deal or the way that he lied
There was blood on the floor of the government store
When the men took his daddy away
It was 1910 and they never had a friend
When he died by the rope down at Cherokee Bend
It was 1910 and they never had a friend
When he died by the rope down at Cherokee Bend

Ah, That Clears Everything Up, to My Understanding

The United States of America is NOT a Democracy

See, we’ve been viewing the States all wrong, since forever. It is supposed to be a servant of the people, not a government. Think SPQR, and you’ll finally get a glimpse of this truth.

I’m still reading “Bashar: Blueprint for Change” and came across this answer for why the government wants to control information, instead of sharing it. The question was whether the USA serves its people or not, since that was the way it was created by the founding fathers.

Yes, in a sense, although you were never meant to have a democracy. It was designed as a republic.

Page 197

And, if you are looking at the political divide, this is why Republicans want to restrict voting rights, mainly to keep the Republic out of the Democrats’ control. Now it makes sense.
