The Man I Admired Most as a Child

Dag_Hammarskjold_outside_the_UN_building-2

Dag Hammarskjöld (Jul 29, 1905 – Sep 18, 1961)

His name came up in our Faith and Science Zoom meeting today. Only those of us Baby Boomers will remember him clearly. Against all odds he was a Christian mystic from Sweden. He was also the second Secretary -General of the United Nations from 1953 – 1961.

HammarskjoldDagWREJC1

This is the generally accepted birth time. And I won’t contradict it, because it shows enough for our purposes without changing it. If anything, he could have been born a quarter-of-an-hour later, and then the position of Jupiter would have been Life*Timed to his becoming the Secretary-General. Uranus is the anchor in his chart.

Jupiter Inconjunct Uranus

You will always need freedom, but you will also discover that what you do with your life will have meaning only if it means something to others. This is not an artificial rule but a truth that you will discover within yourself. When you do, you may become heavily involved in some social movement that advocates unusual ideas or ways of thinking. When you are an adult, you may join a movement for social reform and change. However, even in a group that embodies your own thinking, you will find it hard to adjust to the group’s demands on your own time and freedom. Consequently you will probably leave that group and join another, until that one also becomes oppressive.

Ignorance and Bliss (extract)

(by Nancy Datgel)

“A poem written less than a month before the plane crashed, or was shot down, describes a landscape he had seen twice before in his dreams. It is one once can recognize when taking off or landing at Ndola. It must have been the last thing he saw in his mortal life.

‘The dark-blue night

Above the tree-line,

The open moor in moonlight,

The crest in shadow . . .

Twice I stood on its summits;

I stayed by its remotest lake,

And followed the river

Towards its source.

The seasons have changed

And the light

And the weather

And the hour.

But it is the same land.

And I begin to know the map

And to get my bearings.’

“Does one see in advance the place where one’s journey ends? Does one recognize it when one gets there?”

The Crash

DeathDHammarskjoldWREJC2

This is exactly what I mean by saying that one can get a glimpse of history by looking at an ‘event’ chart. This chart is accentuating the initial Jupiter/Uranus inconjunct by adding a second arm and making it a Yod (Finger of God). The second arm is ‘timed’ by the Midheaven. Venus and Saturn combine with the Ascendant for another ‘timed’ Yod.

So, I can go out on a limb and suggest that this was more or less an accident, although conspiracy theorists might disagree. (And, of course, there are no accidents.) Dag must have been asking to stop the world, ’cause he wanted to get off. Hence, the premonition in his dreams.

Want more proof that this was his ‘planned’ exit?

HammarskjoldDagWBAGE2

Dag’s natal Ascendant is conjunct the ‘event’ Mercury/Mars aspect. The ‘event’ Ascendant is conjunct his natal Venus/Pluto aspect. Need I say anything more? I thought not…

“We are not permitted to choose the frame of our destiny. But what we put into it is ours. He who wills adventure will experience it – according to the measure of his courage. He who wills sacrifice will be sacrificed – according to the measure of his purity of heart.”

Life (version one)

maxresdefault

Though Life has lost its meaning

And Time goes on the same,

Yet I’ll not stop my dreaming

For that would be a shame.

Through thoughts that throw a guided path

And other things they turn from,

With these I’ll choke my stony wrath

A pick a little tune to hum.

Sometimes I find that Love is like

A rocky path that’s full of snares

Or even like a spiny pike

That leaves your hand so full of tears.

And, oftentimes, I will have tried

To be someone I’m not,

And, just as often, I will have cried

Because I’m just a dot.

I’m no one; I’m nobody; I don’t matter:

But still I hear my little lies.

I can’t please myself; I can’t flatter:

I’ll still be no one when I die.

Canada’s “New” National Anthem

We’re All in This Together (2013)

As this is one of my favourite refrains, I was surprised to find that there exists a song with these words in its title.

Now, because of the pandemic lockdown, it has come into its own, on the public stage.

This one minute ad has been running on CTV since the middle of April. Catchy tune, isn’t it? I think it qualifies as a earworm.

It came to my attention when Sam Roberts and his family played it as part of “Stronger Together” on the CBC special broadcast of April 25th.

So, it’s been everywhere.

Would you like to hear the original song while watching the original video from 2014?

You’re welcome.

When a Muse Comes to You in Your Sleep

lf

Satisfaction (1965)

Fifty-five years ago today, Keith Richards woke up from a sleep; a deep sleep that had been interrupted by a guitar riff and a phrase. In the night, he’d recorded the beginnings of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, and hadn’t remembered doing so. But his tape did.

This is the most popular (and famous) song of The Rolling Stones career. So, I wondered, as you do, whether there was a spiritual element to the ‘event’.

And Lo, and Behold! There is…

Mercury Inconjunct Neptune

The challenge of this aspect is to make your thinking and communication with others more clear. Your rational mind is strongly influenced by your sensitivity, imagination and ideals, although you aren’t always sure how this happens. You tend to spend too much time in your imaginary world that no one else can share, and this confuses your dealings with others. You will have to learn to face reality, so that you can at least communicate with people. Otherwise you will have a very lonely life.

Sometimes this aspect means that you are so nervously sensitive that you pick up all the negative psychological energies around you and react to them very strongly. If this is true for you, the only way to deal with it is to be moved to a peaceful, positive environment. If there is too much noise or too many bad vibrations in your life, you will withdraw more and more and refuse to face reality.

Your self-confidence needs to be built up as much as possible so that you can face people without fear, tell the truth about yourself and be honest in other ways as well.

Even if you do adjust easily to reality, you should always have a quiet place where you can be alone with your thoughts. Here you can let your imagination run free and become a creative force instead of a force that works against you.

Patience

industryweek_11700_patience

When under the weather,

Not knowing whether

To quit or not,

Don’t start a fight;

Learn to sit tight:

Think a new thought.

Remember:

Where you’re going

(No one knowing!)

How long away

(Too long you say?)

And more money

(That’s not funny).

So it’s goodbye, December

(Don’t cry, remember)

And hello, gorgeous B.C.

It may not come quickly,

Yet better than sickly

When we’re finally free.

Attention!

1200px-Attention_Sign.svg

Tense:

A frown was forming

Over a worried eye.

“Nonsense,”

Says the tongue, warming

To a hurried cry;

Yet the teeth began grittin’

As the splintered nails were bitten;

The neck became strained and cruel

As its blood turned hot then cool;

While the fist was clenched tight

With its knuckles wrenched white;

The heart started to burn

And the stomach to churn,

For the gut was full of knots

As the muscles pulled taut;

But in the head,

From the brain was fed,

“My patient resistance

Has been stretched

To a thin line of time

Between sanity and sadness,

Between profanity and madness.”

The Birth of Christianity Reimagined

418ielYQ+vL._SX350_BO1,204,203,200_

The Man Who Died

D.H. Lawrence, towards the end of his life, started to examine the life and death of Jesus. I read this book in the 1970’s and, at the time, thought about what Lawrence was trying to accomplish with the writing of it under its original title, The Escaped Cock. (I suspect he was referencing the cock crowing three times during Jesus’ trial before Pilate.)

Lawrence paints a picture of Jesus’ life after death, not as an ascended master but as a sick and broken man, who was glad to have escaped the need to found a new religion.

According to Lawrence:

I wrote a story of the Resurrection, where Jesus gets up and feels very sick about everything, and can’t stand the old crowd any more – so cuts out – and as he heals up, he begins to find what an astonishing place the phenomenal world is, far more marvellous than any salvation or heaven – and thanks his stars he needn’t have a ‘mission’ any more.

(Emphasis mine)

So, Was It a Near Death Experience?

JesusResurrectionofWREJC1

As you may have noticed previously, I have written extensively on the life and death of Jesus in The Star of Bethlehem. But I never looked at the Resurrection before. Why is that?

This year, I dug into three published accounts of Near Death Experiences. I also wrote last year about Hamish Miller‘s NDE in the 1980’s. Was I preparing for this post?

So, what does this chart show us?

There are three Yods (Fingers of God), all interconnected. (Where have I seen this before? Ah, yes, while doing a birth chart for my cousin Terry’s widow. It surprised me.)

The Yods are pointing to Mars, Saturn and Uranus. Quite simply put: the sacrificial lamb overcame the world and inaugurated the Aquarian age.

For those who need the longhand version, here goes:

Moon Inconjunct Saturn

Later in life you might feel that you have no roots, that no one cares for you and that you don’t belong anywhere. This is called alienation, and you are likely to feel that way if you do not learn to balance the needs of both planets.

Venus Inconjunct Uranus

Your uncertainty about love and freedom will be even greater if one of your parents doesn’t seem to really love you steadily, if you feel that you cannot count on that parent when you need help. This would make you feel that love is somehow unreliable, that you cannot depend on anyone who loves you. As a result, you won’t permit anyone to depend on you either.

Mars Inconjunct Saturn

Sometimes with this aspect there really is someone in your life who discourages you and makes you feel that your efforts are futile. You must learn to avoid negative people who make you feel bad about yourself. Your parents should work very hard to give you self-confidence and show you that you are a valuable and important person.

Mars Inconjunct Uranus

Sometimes you may make sudden moves that startle people. You may make a decision very quickly and start to act on it immediately, but that is not such a good idea. Make up your mind more slowly, or at least wait for a while until you start to act. If your idea still looks good a couple of days later, it is probably all right to go ahead with it.

Noli Me Tangere (“Don’t Touch Me”)

For ever, people have wondered what Jesus meant when he said this phrase to Mary Magdalene. If you look at the inconjuncts listed above, you will see that there is an issue of discomfort about the Resurrection. So, maybe D.H. Lawrence was right, after all.

A Poem from 1972 Foretold The Present

White and Red Wine in Stemless Glasses with Slate Background

Monastic Meter

Time

Passes

So Slowly

That souls

Become holy

By dipping their fingers in wine.

.

But

Somehow

The

Silence

Sets up

A defiance

So that my own thoughts are not mine.

.

And

Then the

Controls

Go

When singing

The soul’s woe

For all of the feelings aren’t fine.

.

But

What does

It

Matter

If former’s

Not latter

As long as we’re able to dine?

Is it a Towering Inferno?

image

We watch CTV News Barrie everyday at 6:00 pm. It’s our first view of the news each evening and provides us with an overview of the events in our area of Ontario, Simcoe and Muskoka. It’s also part of the greater CTV News network, which provides images and stories from across Canada and around the world. So, it’s not parochial, by any means.

The above image has been used a couple of times when reporting on COVID-19 deaths. The juxtaposition of a long term care facility and the telecommunication towers on its roof seems a bit unfortunate. It also links the two together in the mind of this conspiracy theorist.

WireAP_71c36ff2fca14b4baf1ee83fda44af00_16x9_992

Here’s another one from the Associated Press. Are they trying to tell us something, without saying a word (as in, a picture is worth a thousand words)?

It makes me wonder…

One Match Lit a Regime Change in 1963

The Heart of Thích Quảng Đức

When it comes to dying for a cause, this Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk set the standard for others to follow. He set himself on fire to protest the treatment of Buddhists in South Vietnam. He was 67 years old, having been a monk for 60 years.

John F Kennedy’s response when he saw the photograph was “Jesus Christ!”

Is there anything we can learn from this suicide astrologically?

MonkSelf-ImmolationWREJC1

This time is approximate, but I suspect it is close to reality. The combination of Mars, Uranus and the Ascendant in Virgo makes it too close to a ‘lightning strike’ to be ignored. And Pluto in the 1st House makes it spiritually significant.

Notice that the Moon is inconjunct to the combined energies.

Moon Inconjunct Mars

If you have a good relationship with your mother, you will develop self-confidence and the ability to stand up for your rights against any obstacle. You will be courageous, and your strength will inspire others to follow where you lead. You will be independent and able to go your own way, even if others do not choose to follow.

Moon Inconjunct Uranus

You should be encouraged to express your inner feelings and release the tensions that build up within you. In this way you will not be hurt by energies that you aren’t aware of in yourself.

Moon Inconjunct Ascendant

You tend to put your own emotional needs and wants second to whatever you feel has to be done. In other words, you are likely to be more disciplined emotionally than most people.

There is also another inconjunct between Jupiter and Neptune, which implies that the ‘event’ itself was an idealistic act. That point is borne out by the effect that this photograph had on the whole world. Vietnam was on everybody’s lips for the first time.

Here’s the same photograph in colour:

The burning monk, 1963 (6)

After the monk’s body was cremated. his heart stayed intact. That’s the message, people.
