The Man who Would be Emperor

Napoleon_Bonaparte

Napoléon Bonaparte (August 15, 1769 – May 5, 1821)

Today in history, Napoléon escaped from exile on Elba in 1815. We think we know all about the man, but do we really?

BonaparteNapoleonWREJC2

I cannot confirm the accuracy of his birth time, 11:00 am being the consensus. However, the Moon being opposite to his Mercury/Saturn/Midheaven conjunction could be an accurate reflection of his character.

Moon in Capricorn

Serious and responsible, you try to carry the world upon your shoulders, and rarely let others know that you need help and support. You deny or ignore your own emotional needs and feel that others will not accept you if your appear “weak”. You are especially uncomfortable with emotional dependency, and will tell yourself and others not to be a “baby”. You need to accept that no one is self-sufficient all the time, and to be gentler with your emotional needs and wants. To others, you may appear to be rather hard-nosed and tough, with a businesslike attitude toward their personal concerns and feelings. Your feelings and loyalties run deep, but you often don’t let people know how much you care. You also need to learn how to relax, enjoy yourself, and play sometimes.

Moon in 3rd House

You often make decisions solely for emotional or personal reasons, because something “feels right” or because you’ve always done it a certain way and you are uncomfortable changing it. Even when you think you’re being rational, your prejudices, intuition, and feelings influence your thoughts a great deal. You are comfortable talking about feelings and personal subjects, and sharing confidences, which enables others to share their own inner feelings with you as well. You have good psychological insight into others.

Moon Opposition Saturn

You often feel that you must do something or be something other than what you are in order to receive approval and acceptance from others. You are very sensitive to criticism and easily feel left out or neglected, and though you may appear cool and distant, you actually care very much about being included. Because you are so sensitive, it may seem easier for you to withdraw into a shell rather than risk the emotional bumps and bruises that can occur when you let others really know you in an intimate, personal way. Your reserve and caution make establishing a close emotional rapport with others difficult for you, and you become very attached to the few people that you consider “real friends”. You can gain inner security and strength through periods of solitude if you view them as times to nourish yourself and develop your own interests, rather than as times of loneliness.

Conclusion

The idea that a person takes their own inner battle and projects it onto the rest of world, in other words, objectifying the conflict, seems to apply here. Napoléon conquered the world so that he could maintain control of his own doubts and fears. He became Emperor of himself.

Somewhat hypocritically, the defeated Napoleon wrote one last letter to Josephine, in which he said, “Never forget him who has never forgotten you and will never forget you.” (Sparknotes)

Revisiting a Visitation

Triptych

My father died in October 1987. I wasn’t aware of this fact until 2007, twenty years later.

He visited me in the early days of 1988, and I wrote a post about that ‘visitation’ a few years ago. Now I want to revisit the event, and look at it astrologically.

MillerChristopherDavidWBAGE2

The original chart is shown in the 2015 post, as linked above. Now I’m going to show how the event is connected to me, personally.

It’s all about Father

I didn’t expect to see such clear signs when I set about to look at an event that has had a profound effect on me, but why am I surprised? The Universe does everything when the planets align. Why should this one be any different?

The Ascendant is perfectly timed to transit my natal Saturn, the ‘father’ in my birth chart. And the transiting Jupiter (expansion) and Venus (love) are forming a Finger of God (Yod) pointing at my natal Saturn. That makes this one ‘special’: “expanding love”.

The other indicator is Pluto transiting my natal Moon. I just knew in my heart that my mother would be involved. All is revealed!

At any rate, I had considered looking at the event from the point of view of my father’s birth chart, but now I think I’ll just leave it alone. It’s enough to know he cared…

No-one Expects the Spanish Influenza

original-5208741-1

When is the ‘Flu not the ‘Flu?

COVID-19 is creeping ever closer to becoming a pandemic. That’s not good news.

The last time the world panicked was in 2003 with the SARS outbreak.

In the meantime, Ebola gave us cause for concern, but that was contained mainly in Africa.

Does anyone remember the Spanish ‘flu? Probably not, since you’d be over 100 years of age. H1N1 resurfaced in 2009 as “swine” ‘flu. It seems that ‘what goes around, comes around again’.

When the Scientists call it Something Else

It doesn’t matter what anyone calls a virus outbreak: if you’re weak, it may kill you; if you’re healthy, you’ll live to fight another day.

We reside in bodies that are prone to infections.

It’s a constant reminder that we are not separate from everything else.

So, my best advice? Live each day as if it’s your last. It just might be…

The present owner of the property, Amanda Chapman, sent me these images of the painting and renovations she has done. This old house looks totally new, now.

I’ve never taken the personality test that helps you get to know your Enneagram number. I haven’t needed to. My whole life has been an investigation into who I am. I’m a 5.

Canada: Indigenous Protests Bring Chaos

kxl-sol

Battle Lines are Drawn

Canada as a nation has been brought to a standstill by some protests across the country. The original grievance of the Indigenous people in British Columbia was the proposed pathway of a pipeline through their territory. Their ‘elected’ officials agreed to the pipeline, the hereditary chieftains did not. Who is ‘right’, who is ‘wrong’?

This goes back to the Indian Act which was imposed on the native Canadian tribes by the federal government. As always, a conquered people are suppressed by the victorious forces, and most of the terms of the Act are discriminatory. These grievances go back a very long time, but only the Indigenous population have a long memory; the rest of us think the battle was over a century-and-a-half ago.

The federal government is trying a walk a very fine line with reconciliation on one hand, and the rule of law on the other. Guess which side will be victorious?

The Liberals under Trudeau are presently a minority government. This ‘small’ protest could topple them. Time will only tell.

She came back to Canada to celebrate my 70th birthday with me.

She did the same for my 60th, ten years ago.

She’s been here at other times, through the years, but these two are special.

Don’t Trust Political Memes on Facebook

635853512231271622-0b283a5a331d8fec94b3ffdd94e658ba

Fake News 2015

I have a good memory, but I didn’t have access to People Magazine in 1998, as I was living in the U.K. But I do remember this meme making the rounds in 2015. It’s fake!

According to FactCheck.org the real quotes are less provocative, but still interesting.

Trump, Wall Street Journal, Sept. 30, 1999: Let’s cut to the chase. Yes, I am considering a run for president. … Unlike candidates from the two major parties, my candidacy would not represent an exercise in career advancement. I am not a political pro trying to top off his resume. I am considering a run only because I am convinced the major parties have lost their way. The Republicans are captives of their right wing. The Democrats are captives of their left wing. I don’t hear anyone speaking for the working men and women in the center.

Trump on CNN, Oct. 8, 1999: But really, really the big thing they’re going to look in — as — is: Can you win? Can a Reform Party candidate win? Because I believe I could get the Reform Party nomination. I don’t even think it would be that tough. … I’m not looking to get more votes than any other independent candidate in history, I’d want to win. So we’ll see.

Trump on CNN, Oct. 8, 1999:  I’m a registered Republican. I’m a pretty conservative guy. I’m somewhat liberal on social issues, especially health care, et cetera, but I’d be leaving another party, and I’ve been close to that party.

King: Why would you leave the Republican Party?

Trump: I think that nobody is really hitting it right. The Democrats are too far left. I mean, Bill Bradley, this is seriously left; he’s trying to come a little more center, but he’s seriously left. The Republicans are too far right. And I don’t think anybody’s hitting the chord, not the chord that I want hear, and not the chord that other people want to hear, and I’ve seen it.

So there you have it, folks. More Russian meddling, I suspect.

Conspiracy: Is COVID-19 an Alien Virus?

006a75cc

Ancient Aliens: The Alien Infection (2019)

OK, folks, here’s a slightly different take on the coronavirus doing the rounds right now. Because the episode was aired in August 2019, I’m fairly sure if this wasn’t inspired by what happened in Wuhan, China in late 2019, yet might have been something that was always ‘in the air’, but it feels “correct” to bring the idea to light right now, at least to me.

“In 2016, scientists made the astonishing discovery that 30 percent of all protein adaptations since humans’ divergence with chimpanzees have been driven by viruses. Could ancient aliens have shaped human evolution by introducing viral epidemics on Earth? And if so, for what purpose? Are they making us more like them?”

Disease-caused-by-SARS-CoV-2-is-now-officially-called-COVID-19

The repeat of this show on the History Channel tonight makes a lot of sense. If we are to become immune to contact with aliens, so that we won’t be wiped out, should they approach us without protective clothing, they would have to inoculate us with their viruses. The Chinese are the largest population group on Earth. They are also ‘travellers’ in the best sense of the word.

A pandemic alters our DNA for the future, and our weakest citizens may die, reducing the ‘excess’ population. But the ‘loose change’ of lives lost is a small price to pay. Have you not wondered why so few people have died from the disease? Those that ‘recover’ contain the antidote in their blood. Others can be immunized without fatalities, eventually.

In the meantime, everyone holds their breath, hoping to escape contamination.
