When Barbra Met Barry

Guilty

It was a matchup made in Heaven. These two giants of the music world made a hit album together. It was the staged Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper “Shallow” moment of the 80’s.

See for yourself:

And if I had reversed the names in the title, it would have been a more perfect reflection of “When Harry Met Sally”.

U.S. Drones on/about Iran

security_global-hawk_CBKWF1

Yesterday, the United States of America went to the brink of war about the shooting down of its drone over Iran, but then pulled back. If the drone had really been in international airspace, the US would have had the excuse it needs to start attacking Iran. But they didn’t. That’s very telling…

D9hkUg_XsAAoIfl

The coordinates that Iran quoted are: 25º N 59′ 43″, 57º E 02′ 25″. That is supposed to be represented by the yellow dot in the above Google image. Does that look like international airspace to you?

Here’s the chart for the moment of impact:

DroneIrandownsUSWREJC1

The significant aspect in this chart is Sun Inconjunct Moon.

“This aspect suggests that there is a subtle conflict going on inside you that may sometimes create emotional problems. The Sun signifies your conscious personality, the way in which you act and the kinds of activities that you like to get involved in. The Moon signifies the emotional and less conscious side of you. It indicates the habits that take over when you are not acting consciously and feelings that come up from deep inside you. The inconjunct aspect between the Sun and Moon means that the Sun part of your personality is quite different from the Moon part, and it may be hard for you to relate them to each other. It is as if you are divided in two, so that whenever you have to make an important decision, especially one that involves your feelings, the different sides of your personality want to go in opposite directions. You sometimes find it difficult to decide if you like something or if you want to take part in some activity.”

Stranger (to myself)

quote-sometimes-i-need-to-be-a-stranger-to-myself-only-then-my-soul-can-show-me-not-what-i-paulo-coelho-86-76-06

I moved away from Canada in nineteen-eighty-five:

I wanted to see how the other half survived;

The Brits were somewhat welcoming to me,

There were so many places I wanted to be.

But I didn’t realize how much the thread comes apart

When one forgets to send love home from the heart

And no amount of patching the great big gaping hole

Can make things right again, to make things whole.

I am a stranger to my homeland,

I never did live in Guelph;

I’m a stranger to my loved ones,

I’m a stranger to myself.

So much has happened in those intervening years:

There were so many circumstances, so many tears.

And I truly thought that I could pick up the missing thread

To make things right again, to remake a marital bed.

But time moves on, and even my own sweet life

Is different now, I’ve taken another wife;

No more can I look back to see what has gone wrong,

No more can I be sure of where I actually belong.

I am a stranger to my homeland,

I’m no more in perfect health;

I’m a stranger to my old best friends,

I’m a stranger to myself.

We’ve Heard…

dfc9ed36b9d24e7c99ef5f74276e60f9

Some Leonard Koans

I’ve heard the soul is diamond in the rough
That pain must polish it to a bright display;
But mine is diamond dust that’s blown away.
(from “I’ve Counted What I Have”)

Now I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord,
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
(from “Hallelujah”)

I know you’ve heard it’s over now, and war must surely come,
The cities they are broke in half, and the middle men are gone.
But let me ask you one more time, O children of the dusk,
All these hunters who are shrieking now: oh do they speak for us?
(from “Stories of the Street”)

Never make a decision when you need to pee.

First New Lyrics in Years

quote-every-faculty-in-one-man-is-the-measure-by-which-he-judges-of-the-like-faculty-in-another-adam-smith-131-77-24

Exempt of Every Faculty

They say: you can lead a horse to water,

But you can’t make him drink;

I say: you can teach a youth to read,

But you can’t make him think,

Because he’s exempt of every faculty.

The end is coming, it’s written in the stars,

But is it just about Pluto conjunct Mars?

I want to warn the world of its dangerous path,

But no one cares; it’s just a bunch of math.

They say: you can lead a horse to water,

But you can’t make him drink;

I say: you can teach a youth to read,

But you can’t make him think,

Because he’s exempt of every faculty.

World leaders come, then world leaders go,

And the rest of us are buried in the snow.

We haven’t learned this lesson that power makes corrupt,

But given the same chance, we’d grab the golden cup.

They say: you can lead a horse to water,

But you can’t make him drink;

I say: you can teach a youth to read,

But you can’t make him think,

Because he’s exempt of every faculty.

(Bridge) All we really need, we already have:

Believe it or not, all we need is love.

Success is an advertiser’s dream:

We chase a dangling carrot ‘til we scream.

They hook us with sex, then add in some spice

But we forget that making money isn’t nice.

They say you can lead a horse to water,

But you can’t make him drink;

I say you can teach a youth to read,

But you can’t make him think,

Because he’s exempt of every faculty.

Yes, we’re exempt of every faculty.

Hong Kong: Civil Disobedience

hong-kong-protests-03.w700.h467

Extradition Protests

My friend, Christina, alerted me to an upcoming celestial event which involved Saturn and the Moon. She asked me if it had any special significance. Since the Moon circles the Earth every 28 days or so, I couldn’t answer her right away, mainly because it happens all the time.

So I created a chart for the very next time:

EclipsedSaturnWREJC1

My initial thought was that people were becoming emotional about government controls. That made me connect to the present situation in Hong Kong, where the population are protesting a new law to allow extradition of suspected criminals to mainland China.

Of itself, this seems a reasonable law, until you remember that China often accuses individuals of breaking the law in order to arrest and detain them, sometimes without a basis to the accusation. Two Canadians are presently locked up in China, in retaliation for Canada’s part in the arrest of Meng Wanzhou on behalf of the United States. So, the citizens of Hong Kong may be right to object to this new law. The vote for the adoption of this law has been postponed until early next week.

Saturn-Pluto Conjunction

But what caught my astrologer’s eye was Pluto lurking within three degrees of this Moon-Saturn ‘eclipse’. In her message to me, Christina mentioned that this event would be repeated once a month for the next six months. That’s where my spidey sense started to see what was actually happening here: war!

Saturn-Pluto cycles are quite regular. Here is a snapshot from the book Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas.

Saturn-Pluto

Please note that the last ‘significant’ event involving an aspect between Saturn and Pluto was 9-11. And look how that one turned out…

So, the implication is that war will break out somewhere in the world between December 2019 and January 2020. I expect it will involve Iran, since the sabre-rattling has been on show from that quarter lately.

You heard it here, first.

Money Laundromat

ThinkstockPhotos-465152877-1

The casino industry in BC has come under intense scrutiny by the authorities because it is proving to be the biggest money laundromat in Canada. I discussed this very same subject earlier this year. But now I have more questions about the process.

In last night’s dream, I was given a lesson in how to detect if funds paid by bank draft may in fact be laundered money. It would seem that even a hint of impropriety can create a whiff of scandal. The drafts were for $10,000 and were being circulated from one person to the next, effectively hiding where the money came from. But, in my mind, I kept revisiting the initial transaction, wondering if there were something illegal going on.

To be honest, I never did get to the bottom of the situation, but my suspicious mind kept busy all night long, as I am sure the authorities will be when they try to follow the money trail.

But do the rich really want their ‘less than honest’ methods to be uncovered? I doubt it.

Turn Off Your Mind, Relax and Float…

well-i-believe-life-is-a-zen-koan-that-is-an-unsolvable-riddle-but-the-contem-a87405e325ce529922963aee7d43c7a7

Zen Koans

We all think too much. It’s a result of depending on the scientific method to solve the mysteries of life. Sometimes, we just need to let go of it all and allow the truth to sink into our minds. Sometimes, we need to face the fact that we cannot use our intellect to see God.

We seek patterns, looking at the details, while viewing the tapestry as a whole. If anything, we are programmed to be this way. Quantum mechanics has shown us that the observer makes events happen. Otherwise, if we didn’t look, nothing would happen.

“If a tree falls in the forest, does anybody hear?” (Bruce Cockburn)

There is the ‘ultimate’ koan, which can be found in the Bible:

Moses asked God who he was,

Exodus 3:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

Can you grasp that with your understanding? I doubt it…

At This Point in Time: a guest review

atthispointintimecover

An Engaging Read and a Great Concept to Explore…

As a natal chart astrologer, I really enjoyed the different approach of this book: to look at specific events in our history through the astrological chart of its time of occurrence, and to explore the interpretation as a kind of ‘birthing’ of an individual. There are some really great choices of events to look at, like 9/11, the D-day landings, the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906, the assassination of JFK and the first moon landing… to name just a few.
Each chart of the event is preceded with a brief outlining history, to give context, and then is followed by an in-depth chart analysis of the energies at play at the specific time of occurrence. Christopher Miller is a very engaging writer, and whether you are student of astrology or not, the book offers a really interesting read, to look deeper into some of the major events of our history; there is something of interest for everyone in this book, as so many of the events chosen are instantly recognisable, and will hold curiosity for us all. I hope that there are more books to follow from this author, as I feel that Mr Miller has a great wealth of knowledge to share.
