Misinformation: Another Echo in History?

Storming of the Bastille, July 14, 1789

This event is considered to be the start of the French Revolution. Does it seem familiar?

I was inspired to look at this event, after the breach of the Capitol Building on Wednesday. It had a similar ‘vibe’ (for want of a better word). But when I looked at Wednesday’s chart, I couldn’t see any direct connections, except in opposition (see below).

But that hasn’t deterred me. So, just for fun, let’s look at that one inconjunct:

Saturn Inconjunct Neptune

This aspect…can have a variety of effects, one of which may be difficulty in relating fantasy and imagination, on one hand, to reality, duty, obligation and work, on the other. Usually the reality, duty and work aspect of the combination is dominant, at least at first. Your imaginative side tends to be transformed into nervousness, fear and irrational anxieties. The most negative manifestation of this aspect is a feeling that you have to keep a tight lid on yourself and that if you look inside yourself too closely, you will find only emptiness and disintegration. It is difficult for you to realize that this is not the truth about your inner self.

Researching the Bastille on Wikipedia yielded this entry:

By July 1789, revolutionary sentiment was rising in Paris. The Estates-General was convened in May and members of the Third Estate proclaimed the Tennis Court Oath in June, calling for the king to grant a written constitution. Violence between loyal royal forces, mutinous members of the royal Gardes Françaises and local crowds broke out at Vendôme on 12 July, leading to widespread fighting and the withdrawal of royal forces from the centre of Paris. Revolutionary crowds began to arm themselves during 13 July, looting royal stores, gunsmiths and armourers’ shops for weapons and gunpowder.

The commander of the Bastille at the time was Bernard-René de Launay, a conscientious but minor military officer. Tensions surrounding the Bastille had been rising for several weeks. Only seven prisoners remained in the fortress, – the Marquis de Sade had been transferred to the asylum of Charenton, after addressing the public from his walks on top of the towers and, once this was forbidden, shouting from the window of his cell. Sade had claimed that the authorities planned to massacre the prisoners in the castle, which resulted in the governor removing him to an alternative site in early July.

Storming of the Bastille (from Wikipedia)

The Marquis de Sade?! Well, isn’t that interesting? This opens up a whole different can of worms, for sure.

Marquis de Sade (June 2, 1740 – December 2, 1814)

My gut told me that this link was going to yield something special. Wait and see…

As this chart was already on my Kepler 7.0 program, I haven’t changed anything (just in case I am accused of making things ‘fit’ my theories). There are two inconjuncts, but I’m not going to focus on them. Instead, I am going to do my ‘quantum leap’ and compare this chart with a certain individual’s, the man who may have sparked Wednesday’s actions.

Can you see what I’m seeing? Venus and Saturn in both charts are conjunct to each other. Sade’s Jupiter is conjunct Trump’s Uranus. Trump’s Mercury is near Sade’s Neptune. And Trump’s Jupiter and Moon are forming a Yod with Sade’s Mercury.

When I compared Sade’s ‘death’ chart to Trump’s birth chart, I didn’t get the same hits, so this leads me to think that the same energies are operating through these two individuals, but they are not reincarnational with each other. Splitting hairs, for sure.

And Speaking of Imagination

Now, friends, that does sound familiar, does it not?

Murder in the Cathedral

Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury

This is one of my favourite cathedrals in all of England. I’ve been here many times. The very first time was in March 1985, with my Miller family, soon after moving to the UK.

Amy, Suzann and Rosanna (in the freezing cold)

I’m partial to cathedrals, as you may have noticed over the years. But this one is special, no doubt because of what happened there in late December 1170.

This chart is timed for Vespers (usually sung at 6:00 pm). Thomas’ birth chart has an interactive Yod, and so does this ‘death’ chart. It implies a purposeful event in history.

Both Yods are time sensitive, and that makes sense in the larger scheme of things.

Moon Inconjunct Venus

You need to be loved, even more than most people, particularly by your mother or another woman who takes the place of your mother. This need for love will be the force behind many of your actions. If you don’t find the love you are looking for, you will develop an insecure hunger for love from everyone you meet. However, you may express this in very strange ways, such as a desire for food, especially sweets, which unconsciously represent love to you.

Moon Inconjunct Midheaven

With this aspect you must learn to make your emotional needs and desires for pleasure fit in with your growth and development in the world. It is possible that these problems could make it difficult for you to choose a profession or a course that would give your life a sense of purpose. Or you may be unable to follow one path consistently. In other words, your emotional needs may be in conflict with your long-term goals. You may know what you have to do, but not feel much like doing it. Or your feelings may actually color your perception so much that you really do not see what has to be done. Try not to form bad habits, because they are especially likely to create difficulties of this sort.

Mercury Inconjunct Ascendant

You are likely to have some problems, but not serious ones, in communicating with others. The problem is that people’s first impression of you may not fit in with what you say or your manner of thinking and speaking. People tend to hear what they expect to hear, and they may not listen to you as carefully as they should. So you will have to be as clear as possible and insist that others listen to what you are really saying. If others do not understand you, it is up to you to set them straight.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose.

As reported by contemporary biographer Edward Grim, this is what Henry II said:

“What miserable drones and traitors have I nourished and brought up in my household, who let their lord be treated with such shameful contempt by a low-born cleric?”

Assassination (from Wikipedia)

Thomas Becket (December 21, 1118[?] – December 29, 1170)

Thomas birth chart could be ‘wrong’ as the year is uncertain. One astrology website even chose 12:30 am for his birth time, so I’ve decided to stick with that. What the hey…

Looking at the aspects, I can only surmise that Thomas’ murder was part of the plan. But which plan? Reading between the lines of the ‘murder’ chart, it would appear to be more about Henry, than Thomas.

Can we reconcile this strange turn of events? Probably not.

Image from “Becket” starring Richard Burton

Here’s where Thomas was murdered by Henry’s men.

The scene was very effectively portrayed in “Becket”:

“Poor Henry” indeed

Once Seen, Never Forgotten, Thrice

Warwick Castle, Warwick

I’ve seen this castle three times over the 22 years I lived in England: the first time with my second wife, Suzann, the second time with my mother, and the third time with Dianne. During the third visit, I actually went on the tour of the castle.

From my personal photographs

There’s a funny(?) story attached to the history of this castle, and it involves Henry II.

In 1153, the wife of Roger de Beaumont, 2nd Earl of Warwick, was tricked into believing that her husband was dead, and surrendered control of the castle to the invading army of Henry of Anjou, later King Henry II of England. According to the Gesta Regis Stephani, a 12th-century historical text, Roger de Beaumont died upon hearing the news that his wife had handed over the castle. King Henry II later returned the castle to the Earls of Warwick, as they had been supporters of his mother, Empress Matilda, in The Anarchy of 1135–1154.

Middle Ages (from Wikipedia)

Tricked!? Oh, dear…

Henry II (March 5, 1133 – July 5, 1189)

It seems in those days that royalty’s birth and death times weren’t noted. so the birth chart for Henry is randomized, as opposed to his being born at dawn (6:12 am) according to other astrological sites.

There’s one Yod (involving Pluto) and one inconjunct, unconnected with the timing (or lack of knowledge about) his birth. Maybe that’s why Henry was so “tricky”…

Jupiter Inconjunct Neptune

You are an idealist with very vivid dreams about how you want you life to be, and at certain times in your life you will follow those dreams with all your energy. But sometimes these idealist dreams will let you down, because you are not concerned enough with what is real and possible. Your parents and other adults may pressure you to be more practical in your thinking, but you think they are just throwing cold water on your aspirations. Yet learning to handle the real world is a very important part of your development, because it is the only way you can avoid becoming bitter and disillusioned when your more impractical ideas have led you into disappointment.

Saturn Inconjunct Pluto

Often this aspect is associated with quite a bit on tension, especially in your muscles, but also in your emotional approach to life. You need to learn that the world is not always a place of struggle and that occasionally it is good to let go and relax. If your home life has been harsh or difficult, it will bring out the worst side of this aspect, and in time you will develop a cynical attitude toward the world in general. You will become intolerant of your own and others’ weaknesses, and you will take advantage of every opportunity, even if it means hurting someone else.

Even under favorable circumstances, this aspect usually means that you are resistant to change, that you hold on to any situation, no matter how bad, until it is totally intolerable. Then when change does take place, it has to create a revolution and a total breakdown of everything that came before it. You must learn to adapt to circumstances a bit more gracefully and not be afraid of occasional compromise.

Uranus Inconjunct Pluto

This aspect indicates changes in the world of the people who were born at this time, changes that were difficult to understand because they were very revolutionary but subtle in many ways.

Henry’s Children Were Revolting

It is said that this film probably captures the real Henry, especially toward the end of his life. His sons were anxious to assume the throne, and he wasn’t happy with any of them.

Finally, they all turned against him in battle, and he died a tired and broken man.

Again, the timing is randomized, but I think the chart shows that everything was at ‘sixes and sevens’. I’ll leave his conflict with Thomas Becket for another day.

Once Seen, Never Forgotten, Too

Hampton Court Palace

UK, Surrey – Hampton Court Palace

My memory says that I, with my second family, visited this palace in the summer of 1986. My third wife, Susan, has photos of this palace in 1965, especially the gardens.

I remember that I was surprised at the size of royal bedroom. It had a high ceiling, and the four-poster bed seemed small, even though the posts reached the ceiling. The curtains and walls, in the present day, were surprisingly pink.

This bedroom is now the Queen Charlotte room

The bedroom that was more masculine was Henry’s parents’ room. They were dead for more than 25 years by the time Cardinal Wolsey gave Henry this palace in 1529. So, the room was an homage to Henry VII and Queen Elizabeth.

But, as always, it is worthwhile to remember that royalty hardly ever slept together.

So which one is connected to me? Possibly neither, but they both have links to my chart.

This one surprised me because I’d already worked out that Henry VIII had more in common to me, especially with one of my three wives being Jane Seymour, the mother of Henry’s only son, Edward VI.

Henry VIII’s birth chart has some connections with mine, especially Henry’s Ascendant on my 9th House cusp, an obvious reincarnational hint. But the death chart is better.

The Aquarius stellium in Henry’s fatal chart goes with my Sun/Jupiter conjunction.

But I have to ask myself: is this proof enough?

Once Seen, Never Forgotten

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland

I visited Edinburgh, once, in May of 1984. It was a spur-of-the-moment trip, after having gone to Paris for the previous few days. Was I rediscovering my karmic roots, or what?

Just yesterday, one of my friends asked if she had any connection to Saint Margaret of Scotland. What made the request interesting was how many attempts she made to send me the link. After three tries, she instead send me a screen shot from her phone, which did not give the name, but the 11th century details of her life and death dates, and her marriage to Malcolm III of Scotland. What was going on? Was the Universe trying to prevent us from knowing something? (You can see how my mind works, can’t you?)

Since neither Margaret nor Malcolm have accurate birth details, I could only research their deaths, and compare the charts to this friend and her husband’s birth charts.

It would appear that they are the reincarnation of this royal marriage.

It would also seem that I was their eldest son, Edward, who died the same day as Malcolm. A cross now marks the spot at Broomhouse Hill, Alnwick, Northumberland.

Image courtesy of Kim Traynor (via Wikipedia)

For privacy concerns, I cannot share my friend’s chart details, but I can show you mine. As father and son both died on the same day, I set the clock for 12 noon, and showed it as Malcolm’s death chart.

For me, the clincher is the conjunction between both chart’s North and South Nodes.

Aries North Node: Libra South Node

Here the soul is learning the lessons of self-consciousness on the most elemental levels. Experiences in prior incarnations did not permit the Self to form as a singular identity. Now the individual is paying the price for the indecisiveness of his former lives as well as learning how to rise out of his confusion by developing “one-mindedness.”

Karmic Astrology Volume I: The Moon’s Nodes and Reincarnation

Now I see why I’m doing this research: I’m learning that all roads lead back to me.

Could Some Royals have Reincarnated as My Extended Family?

The Tudor Family Tree

As anyone who knows me can attest, when I start to do research, I do it thoroughly, and, if I’m honest, personally. Such is the case with the Tudor Dynasty from the late 15th to the early 17th centuries. It’s almost as if I can see a part of myself in their birth and death charts. Up until now, this research has been focused on others. But, just recently, I’ve looked into family connections from the past.

Now, don’t get me wrong: I’m not trying to prove that my family is ‘special’; it’s just that family dynamics are the same the world over, and the Tudors are one specific template.

What it shows me, with this research, is that a good karmic astrologer can find connections everywhere, which just goes to prove the point that:

We are all in this together.

Another New American TV Show “Borrowed” from the UK

Call Me Kat (2021)

Courtesy of IMDb

The opening sequence has Kat (played by Mayim Bialik) talking directly to the camera (audience). Hmm. That looks familiar, I thought.

Then I spied in the opening titles that this show is based on the British TV show “Miranda”. A-ha. That would account for the small acts of slapstick I had witnessed.

But Kat is no Miranda (whose star Miranda Hart is about 6′ 1″ and gawky with it). As you would have seen in the clip above (before it was removed), Max, the bartender, is seen as a hot hunk of a guy. In the British show his name is Gary, and he was played by Tom Ellis, before he came to the States and became Lucifer.

It’s always chancy to transfer a UK hit to the USA or Canada. I only hope that this show can live up to the promise of a smash hit in its initial run.

But it’s not the cat’s whiskers…

A Young Man with So Much to Look Forward to

Henry VIII (June 28, 1491 – January 28, 1547)

We are so used to seeing images of Henry as an inflated personality (and size) that we forget that he was once a young Prince, and a gentleman. He may have been handsome.

Astrologically, Henry was a bundle of contradictions. There are four inconjuncts in his chart.

Venus Inconjunct Pluto

With this aspect you must learn a great deal about the kinds of friends you want and the kinds of experiences you will have through other people. Even while you are still young, you may meet persons who are quite difficult to get along with, but who seem to be impossible to get away from, even when you want to. You may be fascinated by such persons, or circumstances may force you to stay with them. These people do have a definite role to play in your life, but it may not always be a pleasant one. They will teach you something about life or about yourself.

This aspect may also mean that you are very possessive and demanding of your loved ones. You may not want to accept the fact that your friends can love other people besides yourself. Let your friends be themselves freely when they are with you, and try not to be too demanding of their time. Love for friends and relatives should be given freely, not used as a way to control them. If you do that, you will lose their love.

Jupiter Inconjunct Uranus

You will always need freedom, but you will also discover that what you do with your life will have meaning only if it means something to others. This is not an artificial rule but a truth that you will discover within yourself. When you do, you may become heavily involved in some social movement that advocates usual ideas or ways of thinking. When you are an adult, you may join a movement of social reform and change. However, even in a group that embodies your own thinking, you will find it hard to adjust to the group’s demands on your own time and freedom. Consequently you will probably leave that group and join another, until that one also becomes oppressive. While you are young, you may have a similar problem with your friends as well. When they start to expect too much of your time and energy, you will break away from them.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend ll of your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose. This is not true, however, because playing has a positive and useful function in the development of the adult mind and body. Not only does it serve to release tensions, but it also actually helps train you in social and physical skills that will be useful in any work you do later.

On occasion this aspect indicates frail physical health, which can be corrected only by paying a great deal of attention to hygiene, personal health habits and proper diet.

Pluto Inconjunct Midheaven

You may have trouble with older people who try to teach you how to effectively take control of your life. Even while you are young, you may resent their control over you and resist everything they are trying to teach you. To a great extent, your path in life will be shaped by your early confrontations with authority figures. Your parents would be well advised to give you as much control as possible over your own affairs and as much self-determination as you can handle. They should not try to keep an extremely tight rein on you, for if they do, you will explode and become very difficult to handle. Also your self-esteem would be damaged. Your parents and teachers should be very straightforward with you, because if you feel that people are not being honest with you, you will not be honest with them. You are quite capable of acting behind people’s backs if you consider it necessary or if you feel that you never get your own way.

Another problem that can arise if you are not treated properly is that you may withdraw into yourself and become very secretive, as though you have something to hide even when you don’t. This can make people distrust you.

His Story

Born 28 June 1491 at the Palace of Placentia in Greenwich, Kent, Henry Tudor was the third child and second son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Of the young Henry’s six (or seven) siblings, only three – Arthur, Prince of Wales; Margaret; and Mary – survived infancy. He was baptised by Richard Fox, the Bishop of Exeter, at a church of the Observant Franciscans close to the palace. In 1493, at the age of two, Henry was appointed Constable of Dover Castle and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. He was subsequently appointed Earl Marshal of England and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland at age three, and was made a Knight of the Bath soon after. The day after the ceremony he was created Duke of York and a month or so later made Warden of the Scottish Marches. In May 1495, he was appointed to the Order of the Garter. The reason for all the appointments to a small child was so his father could keep personal control of lucrative positions and not share them with established families. Henry was given a first-rate education from leading tutors, becoming fluent in Latin and French, and learning at least some Italian. Not much is known about his early life – save for his appointments – because he was not expected to become king. In November 1501, Henry also played a considerable part in the ceremonies surrounding his brother’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon, the youngest surviving child of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile. As Duke of York, Henry used the arms of his father as king, differenced by a label of three points ermine. He was further honoured, on 9 February 1506, by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I who made him a Knight of the Golden Fleece.

In 1502, Arthur died at the age of 15, possibly of sweating sickness, just 20 weeks after his marriage to Catherine. Arthur’s death thrust all his duties upon his younger brother, the 10-year-old Henry. After a little debate, Henry became the new Duke of Cornwall in October 1502, and the new Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester in February 1503. Henry VII gave the boy few tasks. Young Henry was strictly supervised and did not appear in public. As a result, he ascended the throne “untrained in the exacting art of kingship”.

Henry VII renewed his efforts to seal a marital alliance between England and Spain, by offering his second son in marriage to Arthur’s widow Catherine. Both Isabella and Henry VII were keen on the idea, which had arisen very shortly after Arthur’s death. On 23 June 1503, a treaty was signed for their marriage, and they were betrothed two days later. A papal dispensation was only needed for the “impediment of public honesty” if the marriage had not been consummated as Catherine and her duenna claimed, but Henry VII and the Spanish ambassador set out instead to obtain a dispensation for “affinity”, which took account of the possibility of consummation. Cohabitation was not possible because Henry was too young. Isabella’s death in 1504, and the ensuing problems of succession in Castile, complicated matters. Her father preferred her to stay in England, but Henry VII’s relations with Ferdinand had deteriorated. Catherine was therefore left in limbo for some time, culminating in Prince Henry’s rejection of the marriage as soon he was able, at the age of 14. Ferdinand’s solution was to make his daughter ambassador, allowing her to stay in England indefinitely. Devout, she began to believe that it was God’s will that she marry the prince despite his opposition.

Early Years (from Wikipedia)

See what I mean? His life was never going to be his own, but he wasn’t practically prepared to be King, either. Marrying Catherine, his brother’s widow, was a spectacular act of defiance, and yet a brilliant political move. Mary, their daughter, would one day become Queen Mary I, in her own right. But Henry didn’t love Catherine, he loved another.
