The Secrets Behind the Master Spy Writer

David Cornwall (October 19, 1931 – December 12, 2020)

Cover courtesy of Knopf Canada

I’ve read at least 20 of John le Carré‘s 25 novels, and the memoir “The Pigeon Tunnel: Stories From My Life” written in 2016. I feel I know the author from reading his words, but then every reader feels that about an author whose books they’ve read.

But I digress.

As you can imagine, David Cornwall’s birth time was never known. His mother left home when David was only 5 years old. His father was an insurance fraudster, and David once said that the story of his life was getting out from under his father.

Those details are important in rectifying his birth chart. In David’s case, Saturn (father) and Moon (mother) are in his 4th House (home). His success with “The Spy Who Came In From The Cold” in 1963, when David was 33 years old is signified by Uranus in Aries. It also represents his being outed as a spy (for MI6) by Kim Philby. His cover was blown.

There are two inconjuncts, and, surprise, surprise, they involve his parental planets.

Moon Inconjunct Neptune

People with this aspect often hide their real feelings and make sacrifices for others that they do not really want to make. Then they resent the person who asked for the sacrifice. You must learn to tell people how you really feel; if you do not, you have only yourself to blame for what happens. You must learn to accept that you are responsible for your own life. Do not act as if you are the victim of strong forces that you can’t control, because you can control them.

Jupiter Inconjunct Saturn

This aspect may signify great restlessness and unease, so that it is difficult for you to achieve a state of balance or feel calm and at ease. Often you have contradictory impulses; you want to plunge ahead into some relatively risky activity, but you are held back by feelings of caution or inhibition. It is often difficult to decide whether you want to act on your own or in a situation that is very structured and regulated. If your situation is too structured, you will feel closed in and repressed; you will want to break free and go off by yourself and do things your way. But when you get that freedom, you feel rather lost and at loose ends, and you find it difficult to set your own pace.

You may have mixed feelings about authority as well. On one hand you respect and admire your parents, teachers and other adults who guide your growth, but at the same time you resist their teachings. At times you resent these people very much, because they seem to limit you so.

He Couldn’t Help But Be a Writer

In his birth chart, David’s Uranus is opposite a close Sun/Mercury conjunction in Libra, situated in his 1st House (of Personality). It was the only way he could exorcise his demons. If you want an intimate portrait of what his life must have been like, read the novel, or watch the TV series, “A Perfect Spy”. It is the most semi-autobiographical book that he had ever written.

But David was also a man of insight, sometimes sitting on the cutting edge of history:

The Last Word is His

Amen.

The Day That the Holy Spirit Descended on the Apostles

Pentecost (May 15, 30 AD)

I was reading in a Steiner book that Pentecost took place in 33 AD, 49 days after Easter Sunday. Why is everyone stuck on 33 AD? By my own calculation Jesus’ resurrection took place on April 6, 30 AD. Therefore, Pentecost would be May 15, 30 AD.

Uranus (the “Quickening” energy) is pivotal to the whole chart, with a T-square involving Mercury (languages) and the Midheaven. Mars and Neptune are conjunct in Capricorn trine the Sun while Pluto is in a grand trine with Uranus and Jupiter, and trine the Moon/Venus conjunction. This definitely describes the Holy Spirit.

I would suggest that the Apostles were ‘inspired’ to speak to the world. Those “tongues of fire” are quite suggestive of their mission.

“Not For All the Tea in China”

Boston Tea Party (December 16, 1773)

This post was prompted by a game show reference to Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement. When I checked on my Kepler 7.0 program, I was surprised that there was no chart for the original Boston Tea Party event. Since it started in the evening, I’ve chosen 5 pm as the time of the chart.

Mercury and Mars conjunct on the descendant would be enough to spur any political movement into action, because ‘actions speak louder than words’. And the grand trine of Pluto and Uranus with Neptune/Saturn means that the action is symbolic in nature.

The inconjunct linking the Sun and Uranus gives the underlying reason.

Sun Inconjunct Uranus

There is a side of your personality that is very restless and impatient with rules, even when you know they are for your own good. You want very much to go your own way and do your own thing, even when you aren’t entirely sure that it is the right direction for you. So you rebel in subtle ways by having sudden fits of obstinacy and moods of feeling very contrary, especially to your parents and other authority figures.

Succinct and to the point…

So What About the Tea Party in the 21st Century?

Mars and Uranus meet at 24Pis27 in the 12th house of Karma, Self-Undoing, and Large Institutions in the chart set for Washington, DC…a political behind-the-scenes meeting perhaps? As you know, Mars conj Uranus indicates risk-takers and those who despise the authority and control of others. I, too, despise what ‘my’ government has used our tax monies for – their own ends, such as war, the undermining of duly-elected governments abroad, assassins’ paychecks, and who knows what else under heaven.

https://www.starsoverwashington.com/2009/04/tax-day-tea-party-astrology-mars.html

Honestly, I would never have looked at this chart had it not been for the research into Sarah Palin and the movement. The day, as all Americans know, is Tax Day. And it is obvious that the government (Saturn) is the target of the tax protest. The echo is clear.

Only by looking at both charts together do we get the real picture.

The 2009 Sun and Neptune are pointing a Finger of God (Yod) at the 1773 Saturn. It’s the same old grievance but dressed up in a set of new clothes. 2009’s Moon/Pluto/Midheaven is conjunct 1773’s Mercury and Mars in Capricorn. 2009’s Mars and Uranus are conjunct 1773’s South Node in Pisces. 2009’s North Node is conjunct 1773’s Moon in Aquarius. Makes me wonder: which event came first, really?

The Emperor who Followed Nero

Servius Galba (December 24, 3 BC – January 15, 69 AD)

The significance of this individual might be overlooked, until you see that following Nero is similar to the role that Joseph Biden is doing with becoming #46 after Trump.

And Biden has a similar look to Galba when he purses his lips…

That’s not proof of one being the reincarnation of the other, but it opens the mind to the possibility, at least with me.

In a time when younger men were becoming Roman Emperor, Galba stands out as a man well past his prime. I have rectified the timing of his birth chart to highlight his ‘surprise’ appointment at age 69 (Pluto). Unfortunately, he only lasted 7 months on the job. (This doesn’t bode well for Biden, does it?)

But, because Galba was murdered in a public place, after being tricked by those closest to him, I have rectified his ‘death’ chart to show this, by placing Mars on the Ascendant.

But is Biden the Reincarnation of Galba?

Here’s where it gets tricky:

When I compared their birth charts, I can see there are strong links, especially Biden’s Pluto (in Leo) conjunct to Galba’s Moon/Jupiter/South Node 7th House conjunction. Also, Biden’s Ascendant (in Sagittarius) is within 5 degrees of Galba’s Mercury, while Galba’s Neptune is halfway between Biden’s Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. Finally. Biden’s Midheaven is conjunct Galba’s 8th House cusp/Pluto in Virgo. That indicates coming back to complete the task that Galba had originally intended: restore decency at the top.

But Galba’s ‘murder’ chart and Biden’s birth chart bear (almost) no resemblance to each other, but that can be explained by the very fact that Galba’s death was a murder.

The Moon @ 0 degrees Taurus in Joe Biden’s chart is significant to the chart of the next US administration, as we have looked at previously. Galba’s North Node in his ‘murder’ chart is @ 2 degrees Taurus. Could this be a sign? Perhaps.

Conclusion

As Rudolf Steiner was quick to point out,

“Through the temptation of Lucifer, what we may call the ‘expulsion from Paradise’ has come about.…Expulsion from Paradise means that the human being was originally in the spiritual world, that is, in Paradise, and consisted of Imagination, Inspiration, and Intuition in an entirely supra-earthly existence.…Under the luciferic influence, the human being received an inrush…of matter. Thus, we are filled with matter, but it does not belong to us. We bear this matter within us, and because we bear it in us we must die a physical death.”

Dann, Kevin; Powell, Robert. Astrological Revolution: Unveiling the Science of the Stars as a Science of Reincarnation and Karma . SteinerBooks. Kindle Edition.

One of the luciferic influences is Illusion. We are susceptible to wild imaginings which blind us to the Truth. Even speculation about reincarnation could be classified as an illusion. Why? Because we are one another, united in spirit, but seemingly separate while in the body. Therefore, the use of astrology to prove reincarnation is a nonsense.

So, if you want to imagine that Joe Biden is the reincarnation of Servius Galba, go for it.

Reincarnation: From Theologian to Astronomer

Nicolaus Copernicus (February 19, 1473 – May 24, 1543)

This is the man who turned our world upside down when he suggested that the Sun was the centre of our solar system and not the Earth. What can we know about him?

That’s a strange Yod pointing at Venus (in Aries) formed from a sextile between Uranus (in Scorpio) and his Ascendant (in Virgo).

Venus Inconjunct Uranus

You feel mixed up about whether you want to be close to others or be free. When you are really close to a loved one, you feel smothered and want to get away by yourself to do what you want. But when you are alone and free to do what you want, you miss your loved ones and want to be with them. It will take you several years to understand yourself enough so that you can strike a balance between these two needs, so be patient.

Venus Inconjunct Ascendant

You often feel that you haven’t any right to ask much of those whom you love. You feel that you must do favors for them instead of asking for their help. For you, love is an act of service, not self-gratification. Also, through relationships with others, you try to learn more about your own and other people’s inner workings. For this reason your relationships are more deep and profound than most people’s. But they are somewhat difficult, too. Your close friends and loved ones discover that you are quite different in a close relationship than you appear at first. It is not that you are dishonest, but that you show a side of yourself to your friends that you usually keep hidden, often because you are not entirely confident in that role. You may feel unsure that others will like you or accept your affection. This is one reason why you express your love by doing nice things for people. You are trying to win them over.

(This particular aspect is shared by Guy Fawkes.)

Saturn Inconjunct Neptune

This aspect can have a variety of effects, one of which may be difficulty in relating fantasy and imagination, on one hand, to reality, duty, obligation and work, on the other. Usually the reality, duty and work aspect of the combination is dominant, at least at first. Your imaginative side tends to be transformed into nervousness, fear and irrational anxieties. The most negative manifestation of this aspect is a feeling that you have to keep a tight lid on yourself and that if you look inside yourself too closely, you will find only emptiness and disintegration. It is difficult for you to realize that this is not the truth about your inner self.

Madame Blavatsky and Rudolf Steiner Agree on his Past Life

There are other examples from later times, for example Nicholas of Cusa (Cusanus), a curious personality of the fifteenth century. Here we can see the interesting case of how the research of this man, as it were, laid the groundwork for the entire body of the teaching of Copernicus, who lived in the sixteenth century. To be sure, this body of teaching is not yet quite as ripe in Cusa’s books as in those written by Copernicus, but they contain all the essential ideas, a fact that confounds most traditional scholars. The fact is that the astral body of Cusa was transferred to Copernicus even though the ego of the latter was different from that of Cusa. This is how Copernicus received the foundation and all the preparations for his own doctrine.

https://wn.rsarchive.org/GA/GA0109/19090121p01.html

Adepts or perfected human beings can voluntarily incarnate themselves in order to do some work in the physical world. Of this type there are several degrees: The lowest would allow the Adept “to choose after death another body in which he could go on with his interrupted studies, though ordinarily he would lose in it every remembrance of his previous incarnation” (CW XIV:377). H. P. Blavatsky cites as an example the rebirth [as] Copernicus [of] Nicholas de Cusa. The next degree allows the Adept to transfer the memory of his past life to his new body. The highest degree has hardly any limit in the exercise of this faculty.

https://www.theosophy.world/encyclopedia/incarnation

Nicolaus Cusanus was a deep mystic. As he was totally immersed in the Roman Catholic Church during his lifetime, he probably needed a rest in his next life. But, according to Steiner, his “I” personality did not reincarnate as Nicolaus Copernicus: only his astral spirit… (Okay, now we seem to be splitting hairs.)

The conjunct Moons from the two charts (both in Sagittarius) may be the clue: in Copernicus’ chart the Moon is conjunct Jupiter. And the T-squares between the two are also focused here. Mercury in Cusanus’ chart is conjunct Copernicus’ Neptune (more mist and mystery), and Copernicus’ Sun is conjunct a wide Jupiter/Saturn aspect in Cusanus’ ‘fatal’ chart (in Pisces). And finally, Copernicus’ natal Neptune is transiting Cusanus’ ‘fatal’ Ascendant.

All those aspects are enough connections to satisfy my curiosity.

This Man: a Swedish Prime Minister and Shirley MacLaine’s Lover

Olof Palme (January 30, 1927 – February 28, 1986)

That’s enough of a double whammy to satisfy most aspiring folk, but, like all powerful men, he went “Out on a Limb” and it cost him his life.

Gerry Stamford, a married man and fictionalized Labour member of the British House of Commons, with whom MacLaine claimed she had a love affair

Wikipedia

Not wanting to waste a teaching opportunity, this chart demonstrates clearly that powerful men need that extra something in order to succeed. In Palme’s case, it’s the Yod formed from his (wide) Mars/Pluto sextile, pointing to his Ascendant. He could upset his enemies, and that may have put into play his assassination. The other inconjunct connects Uranus and Neptune. We’ve seen this aspect before.

Uranus Inconjunct Neptune (1893-1896 and 1924-1927)

This aspect indicates a generation that had mixed feelings about its ideal and how to implement them. They often felt very confused about their ideals, and when they found that their ideals failed because they were badly formulated, this group became disillusioned. States of consciousness beyond the ordinary are very confusing to them, and they prefer not to get involved with such matters.

Didn’t Margaret Thatcher have this aspect, too?

The reason I’m looking at Olof Palme is because of a passage from the Steiner book I’ve been reading.

And what deceptions! Unfortunately, the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Past Life Regression is just what the title declares. The book accepts the premise that one can gain knowledge of previous incarnations merely by entering a hypnotic state. Invariably, the resulting identities are notable. Shirley MacLaine published Out on a Limb, in which she claims to have been the lover of Charlemagne in a past life, as well as that of his current reincarnation, Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme.

Dann, Kevin; Powell, Robert. Astrological Revolution: Unveiling the Science of the Stars as a Science of Reincarnation and Karma . SteinerBooks. Kindle Edition.

Because Ms. MacLaine’s information came primarily through Kevin Ryerson’s spirit guide Ahtun Re, we are supposed to take what he says with a grain of salt. In reality, this source may be ‘misguided’ (see my little joke there?) but the essence of the past life may show a connection to the present. (My reason for saying this is two-fold: Helen Schucman has supposedly reincarnated as a present-day 20-year-old who lives in Nova Scotia; and Donald Trump is the spitting image of the Roman Emperor Nero.) Subsequent research shows how some things may be true and some not. One must always be discerning.

Charlemagne and Olof Palme

According to the research that I’ve been doing for the past couple of years, and more prolifically in the past six months, the death in one life should tie in with the birth in another. (Notice that I didn’t say, ‘in the next life’, because that would presume that there have not been any intervening lives.) So, the most important link up is the near conjunction of Charlemagne’s ‘fatal’ Sun and Palme’s natal Sun/Mercury conjunction.

The other ‘hot’ spot is Charlemagne’s ‘fatal’ Pluto and Palme’s natal Venus. If Shirley MacLaine had been a lover of Charlemange’s in the past, this could prove to be the key.

But does this prove that Charlemagne and Olof Palme are one and the same? Maybe.

The Final Word is His
