They Say There’s that Special Someone for Everyone

Eva Braun (February 6, 1912 – April 30, 1945)

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:18 (KJV)

Strange, isn’t it? God was speaking here of creating Eve for Adam, and yet the binary world we live in requires a delicate balance between male and female, dark and light, good and evil.

Eva Braun may have been that delicate balance to Adolf Hitler’s whole persona.

The timing of her birth is considered excellent by all astrology sites, and was the same on my computer program. What seems ironic is the Mars position of her chart should have been around 40 years of age, not 33 as it happened. Mars in this instance represents both her marriage and her death. Such is life.

The North Node @ 25° Aries implies that she fulfilled her life’s purpose at age 19, when she got involved with Hitler.

At age 17, Braun took a job working for Heinrich Hoffmann, the official photographer for the Nazi Party. Initially employed as a shop assistant and sales clerk, she soon learned how to use a camera and develop photographs. She met Adolf Hitler, 23 years her senior, at Hoffmann’s studio in Munich in October 1929. He had been introduced to her as “Herr Wolff”.

Wikipedia

Evidently, she attempted suicide (as a repeat of a loss that Hitler had in 1931 with the death of his half-niece, Geli) to gain Hitler’s attention.

Braun herself attempted suicide on 10 or 11 August 1932 by shooting herself in the chest with her father’s pistol. Historians feel the attempt was not serious, but was a bid for Hitler’s attention. After Braun’s recovery, Hitler became more committed to her and by the end of 1932 they had become lovers. She often stayed overnight at his Munich apartment when he was in town. Beginning in 1933, Braun worked as a photographer for Hoffmann. This position enabled her to travel—accompanied by Hoffmann—with Hitler’s entourage as a photographer for the Nazi Party

Do you see how astrology can make sense of something so bizarre? There are two inconjuncts.

Mercury Inconjunct Pluto

You have a rather complicated and sometimes tricky mind. You usually prefer to do things in roundabout and involved ways instead of being simple and direct.

On the negative side, however, you might misuse this ability by trying to control peoples’ thoughts and words. Also you may love mysteries so much that you get involved in complicated plots and arrangements with your friends. You may enjoy working in secret and creating an air of mystery about yourself, but this could backfire and make others misunderstand you or even fear what you are doing. It is important to show people that you are honest and that you are not hiding anything. Otherwise they will probably suspect you, even if you are totally innocent. And if you aren’t, they will know it for certain.

Jupiter Inconjunct Saturn

This aspect may signify great restlessness and unease, so that it is difficult for you to achieve a state of balance or feel calm and at ease. Often you have contradictory impulses; you want to plunge ahead into some relatively risky activity, but you are held back by feelings of caution or inhibition. It is often difficult to decide whether you want to act on your own or in a situation that is very structured and regulated. If your situation is too structured, you will feel closed in and repressed; you will want to break free and go off by yourself and do things your way. But when you get that freedom, you feel rather lost and at loose ends, and you find it difficult to set your own pace.

(Sounds just like the German people during the 1930’s.)

These two charts have an interesting match-up of planetary energies. Eva’s South Node is conjunct Hitler’s Ascendant, while her North Node is conjunct his Sun/Mercury conjunction. Her Mars is in the middle of his Neptune/Pluto conjunction, while her Saturn is within 3° of his (oh-oh) Venus/Mars conjunction. Finally, Eva’s Venus is conjunct Hitler’s Moon/Jupiter conjunction. It’s a potent combination, for sure.

Hitler wished to present himself in the image of a chaste hero; in the Nazi ideology, men were the political leaders and warriors, and women were homemakers. Hitler believed that he was sexually attractive to women and wished to exploit this for political gain by remaining single, as he felt marriage would decrease his appeal. He and Braun never appeared as a couple in public; the only time they appeared together in a published news photo was when she sat near him at the 1936 Winter Olympics. The German people were unaware of Braun’s relationship with Hitler until after the war.

We know that Adolf Hitler reincarnated as ‘John Doe’. I wonder who Eva Braun came back as?

Is This the Real Thing, or Just a Fantasy, Too?

Dorothy Eady (Omm Sety) (January 16, 1904 – April 21, 1981)

My friend, Ian, sent me the link to the History Channel’s page about Dorothy Eady, last night. I’d heard of her before, but actually didn’t pay her any attention, in the past. It’s a strange tale, to be sure.

As usual, when a birth time is unknown, the chart needs to be rectified. The ‘event’ in her childhood at age three is a no-brainer: Mars @ 27° Aquarius 15′ fits the timing of her death/rebirth exactly. Pluto hints at her making connections with Seti in Egypt @ age 33. That leaves the Neptune effect of coming into her own mystic nature @ 52 years when she moved to Abydos, Egypt.

The personal planets are all before the age of three, so I expect that she was totally unaware of what her role was to be in the future as an adult. Please note that there are no inconjuncts.

What are we to make of this ‘mother of Sety’ (Sety was the name of her son in the present) who, by the time of her death in 1981, looked like a mummy? Could it be the ‘real’ thing? Or was she a ‘walk-in’?

What do you think?

I Could Have Sworn I’d Written about This Years Ago

David Bowie (January 8, 1947 – January 10, 2016)

Cover courtesy of amazon.ca

Is this one of my prime examples of the Mandela Effect? I even remember discussing the fact that David Bowie‘s birth time of 9:00 am should actually be 11:50 pm, as stated by the author of his biography, Paul Morley.

David Jones shared the same birthday with the first Dr Who, William Hartnell, with Graham Chapman of Monty Python, with Gypsy Rose Lee, Shirley Bassey and Elvis Presley. There are various suggestions about what time he was born, as though this might make a difference, in terms of the moment he entered the world, on planet earth, the exact accidental time amidst the vast flat-out unfathomable swirl of billions of years that he made his very first spectacular appearance. This is when he decided to turn up, or when it was decided for him.

I like the idea he was born at 11:50 p.m., a mere ten minutes before midnight and 9 January, another day, and another life, altogether. A last minute gasp. Manipulating his circumstances already, he fought to be born the same day as Elvis — and Shirley.

The Age of Bowie (pages 66-67)

Yes, that Neptune conjunct Ascendant @ 10° Libra seems right to me. There are three inconjuncts.

Sun Inconjunct Uranus

There is a side of your personality that is very restless and impatient with rules, even when you know they are for your own good. You want very much to go your own way and do your own thing, even when you aren’t entirely sure that it is the right direction for you. So you rebel in subtle ways by having sudden fits of obstinacy and moods of feeling very contrary.

Sometimes the energy of this aspect comes out in other ways as well. At times sudden upsets may occur in your life that totally alter your plans, so that you have to change course entirely. When this happens, you must learn to yield to the pressure and flow with the change.

Mercury Inconjunct Saturn

This aspect can have several different meanings. First of all, you may have hidden fears that are difficult to express, but they cause you to do things that others can’t understand. These may include fear of the dark or of certain places or people. Or this aspect can mean that you often feel depressed and sad for no apparent reason. You tend to see the serious side of life, and it weighs on you more than on most people.

Mars Inconjunct Uranus

This energy may be expressed as a hot temper, especially when you have to endure restriction or limitation. You have a rebellious streak that needs to be disciplined, because everyone has to endure some restrictions, and it takes so little to trigger your temper.

Sometimes you may make sudden moves that startle people. You may make a decision very quickly and start to act on it immediately, but that is not such a good idea. Make up your mind more slowly, or at least wait for a while until you start to act. If your idea still looks good a couple of days later, it is probably all right to go ahead with it.

Blame It on the Full Moon: Dream Image

Starlight Meter

Sometimes (most times), when a message is being transmitted through a dream, the idea is disguised in several ways, in order to bypass the ego’s censoring (sensoring?) methods. In last night’s dream, I got hold of a light meter (not dissimilar to the image above), and was taking readings of starlight emissions.

By itself, this segment would have been something I might ignore when I wake in the morning. But there was a twist to the story: by placing my hands on the tummy area of the woman sitting next to me in the auditorium, I could read the intensity of moonlight she was absorbing. Really? I didn’t know the woman, even in the dream, but she was most obliging, although risking her reputation by taking part.

Does any of this make sense to any of you?

Then this song came to mind. (Has it really been six years since David Bowie died?)

Let’s Dance

Let’s dance
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Let’s dance
To the song they’re playin’ on the radio
Let’s sway
While color lights up your face
Let’s sway
Sway through the crowd to an empty space

If you say run
I’ll run with you
And if you say hide
We’ll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall into my arms
And tremble like a flower

Let’s dance
Let’s dance
For fear your grace should fall
Let’s dance
For fear tonight is all
Let’s sway
You could look into my eyes
Let’s sway
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight

And if you say run
I’ll run with you
And if you say hide
We’ll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall into my arms
And tremble like a flower

Let’s dance
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Let’s sway
Under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
Let’s dance
Let’s dance
Let’s dance, dance, dance

David Bowie

Ah: ‘under the moonlight, this serious moonlight.’

The Man who Tilted at Literary Windmills

Miguel de Cervantes (September 20, 1547 OS – April 22, 1616 NS)

On this day in 1605, Miguel de Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote is first published.

It’s hard to believe it was so long ago.

Cervantes claimed to have written over 20 plays, such as El trato de Argel, based on his experiences in captivity. Such works were extremely short-lived, and even Lope de Vega, the best-known playwright of the day, could not live on their proceeds. In 1585, he published La Galatea, a conventional pastoral romance that received little contemporary notice; despite promising to write a sequel, he never did so.

Aside from these, and some poems, by 1605, Cervantes had not been published for 20 years. In Don Quixote, he challenged a form of literature that had been a favourite for more than a century, explicitly stating his purpose was to undermine ‘vain and empty’ chivalric romances. His portrayal of real life, and use of everyday speech in a literary context was considered innovative, and proved instantly popular. First published in January 1605, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza featured in masquerades held to celebrate the birth of Philip IV on 8 April.

Wikipedia

The time of this chart is arbitrary on my account (rectified so that the North Node happens when he’s 52, the year he published his most famous novel). The events of his youth are therefore highlighted before he reaches the age of 23. His literary works begin at (about) age 30 (Mercury @ 28° Libra 29′). This makes him Aries Rising. There are several inconjuncts, with two forming a Yod, pointing at Mars.

In Journey to Parnassus, published two years before his death in 1616, Cervantes claimed to have “lost the movement of the left hand for the glory of the right”.

Good pun.

Sun Inconjunct Jupiter

This can be an extremely useful aspect, if you learn to have more self-control in what you do. Jupiter is always high-spirited, wanting to do and encounter everything and enjoy life thoroughly. Yet in some combinations, it means that you are unwilling to work for what you want. You may feel that you are such a fine person that you deserve to have everything done for you. Certainly you are worthwhile in your own way, but that doesn’t give you a right to be taken care of without contributing your share.

Venus Inconjunct Ascendant

Your close friends and loved ones discover that you are quite different in a close relationship than you appear at first. It is not that you are dishonest, but that you show a side of yourself to your friends that you usually keep hidden, often because you are not entirely confident in that role. You may feel unsure that others will like you or accept your affection. This is one reason why you express your love by doing nice things for people. You are trying to win them over.

Mars Inconjunct Jupiter

With this aspect you are probably quite active, with abundant energy for everything you want to do. But you must learn to control your energies rather than have them control you. You may inclined to take excessive risks, to try out things that you are not sure you can do. But be careful, because with this aspect the energies of Mars and Jupiter do not work very smoothly together. If you overextend yourself and try to do more than you are physically capable of, you may have an accident. Also you may be clumsy when you take up a new activity until you learn to control your physical body better.

Mars Inconjunct Neptune

With this aspect you must learn to stand up for yourself and demand your rights forthrightly and directly. Often you feel that you don’t have enough energy to assert yourself or that any such effort would be futile. Unfortunately, some people with this aspect learn to work behind the scenes or dishonestly. Others simply give up or take a defeatist attitude toward life.

Sometimes this aspect operates on the physical plane as well. You may have a generally low energy level and feel tired all the time but not able to sleep because of nervousness. You may actually need more sleep than others, and if so, you should try to get it. This aspect may also indicate that you tend to have allergies and infections.

Uranus Inconjunct Pluto

This aspect indicates changes in the world of the people who were born at this time, changes that were difficult to understand because they were very revolutionary but subtle in many ways.

Was Jesus an Initiate into the Dionysian Mysteries?

Lord of the Dance

I’ve hinted about this idea, before, on these pages. The idea just won’t go away.

The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’ But wisdom is shown to be right by its results.

Matthew 11:10 (New Living Translation)

Here Jesus is comparing his own ‘loose’ ways with John the Baptist’s ‘strict’ life. People thought John had a demon. Was he comparing Dionysus and Orpheus, perhaps?

Was that My Funeral Pyre in 340 BCE Greece?

And was I an Initiate into Dionysian Mysteries?

Greek cremation practices

I should not have anything to do with the discovery of the Derveni papyrus, should I? And, yet, just for fun, I compared my birth chart with the ‘event’ chart from this date in 1962. I was surprised.

What is going on, here?

And just to see if it might be part of the transiting Pluto effect on my natal Mercury, I did a transit chart, too.

What do you think?

Yesterday in History II

Derveni Papyrus Found (January 15, 1962)

It’s all Greek to me…

The Derveni papyrus, Europe’s oldest surviving manuscript dating from 340 BCE, is found in Greece.

“The main part of the text is a commentary on a hexameter poem ascribed to Orpheus, which was used in the mystery cult of Dionysus by the ‘Orphic initiators’. Fragments of the poem are quoted, followed by interpretations by the main author of the text, who tries to show that the poem does not mean what it literally says. The poem begins with the words ‘Close the doors, you uninitiated’, a famous admonition to secrecy, also quoted by Plato. The interpreter claims that this shows that Orpheus wrote his poem as an allegory. The theogony described in the poem has Nyx (Night) give birth to Uranus (Sky), who becomes the first king. Cronus follows and takes the kingship from Uranus, but he is likewise succeeded by Zeus, whose power over the whole universe is celebrated. Zeus gains his power by hearing oracles from the sanctuary of Nyx, who tells him ‘all the oracles which afterwards he was to put into effect.’ At the end of the text, Zeus rapes his mother Rhea, which, in the Orphic theogony, will lead to the birth of Demeter. Zeus would then have raped Demeter, who would have given birth to Persephone, who marries Dionysus. However, this part of the story must have continued in a second roll which is now lost.

“The interpreter of the poem argues that Orpheus did not intend any of these stories in a literal sense, but they are allegorical in nature.

This poem is strange and riddling to people, though [Orpheus] did not intend to tell contentious riddles but rather great things in riddles. In fact he is speaking mystically, and from the very first word all the way to the last. As he also makes clear in the well recognized verse: for, having ordered them to “put doors to their ears,” he says that he is not legislating for the many [but addressing himself to those] who are pure in hearing … and in the following verse …

“The first surviving columns of the text are less well preserved, but talk about occult ritual practices, including sacrifices to the Erinyes (Furies), how to remove daimones that become a problem, and the beliefs of the magi. They include a quotation of the philosopher Heraclitus. Their reconstruction is extremely controversial, since even the order of fragments is disputed. Two different reconstructions have recently been offered, that by Valeria Piano and that by Richard Janko, who notes elsewhere that he has found that these columns also include a quotation of the philosopher Parmenides.” (Wikipedia)

What Does the Event Chart Look Like?

This timing was totally randomized, so I was surprised to see the Moon transiting the event horizon (Ascendant) exactly @ 23° Taurus 09′. Something must be going on here. There are two inconjuncts.

Mercury Inconjunct Pluto

On the positive side, this [aspect] means that you enjoy solving puzzles, tracking down mysteries and finding out about hidden matters.

On another level, this aspect can mean that at certain times in your life you will go through tremendous psychological changes. All your thoughts and opinions will change completely. These stages may seem difficult, but you will be much better off if you let go of the past and welcome the new ideas.

Saturn Inconjunct Uranus

On the positive side, if you can learn to live with this tension a bit and express your feelings and emotions before they reach the breaking point, you can be extremely patient and persistent. You will be able to accomplish many tasks that others would give up on, if you do not hold in all your feelings and desires for freedom.

So, what about the Moon, then?

Moon Conjunct Ascendant

You make an impression on others largely through your emotions. People always know how you feel about something, because you make no effort to hide it. Some may accuse you of wearing your heart on your sleeve, but most people will like you for it. You have the kind of honesty that others appreciate. This aspect means that you understand how people feel, and you can make them see your point of view. You sympathize with others, and in turn they are sympathetic to you. When you are older, you will be able to appeal to the feelings of the public at large, who will feel that you are one of them. Politicians, salespeople and others who appear before the public often have this aspect in their charts.

Hint, hint
