Inside Out: Playing Langley at Its Own…

Spy Game (2001)

Another Netflix gem, this time starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. The movie is a flashback memory of the recruitment and running of “Boy Scout” from the Vietnam War (1975), to East Germany, and then finally to Beirut (1985). This story takes place in 1991, during a delicate time of negotiations of a trade agreement between the United States and China. (Honestly, has this struggle for trade supremacy been 30 years?)

Here’s the plot from Wikipedia:

In 1991, the US and China are on the verge of a major trade agreement, with the President due to visit China to seal the deal. The CIA learns that its asset Tom Bishop has been arrested at a People’s Liberation Army prison in Suzhou and will be executed in 24 hours, unless the US government claims him and bargains for his release. Bishop’s actions, unsanctioned by the CIA, risk jeopardizing the agreement.

A group of CIA executives summon Nathan Muir, Bishop’s mentor, who is on his last day before retirement. While purportedly interviewing Muir to learn his history with Bishop, the executives seek a pretext for not intervening on Bishop’s imprisonment. Unknown to them, Muir was tipped off about Bishop’s capture by a fellow CIA veteran in Hong Kong.

Muir leaks the story to CNN through an MI6 contact in Hong Kong, believing that public pressure would force American intervention. They are stalled briefly before a phone call to the FCC from CIA Deputy Director Charles Harker results in CNN retracting the story as a hoax.

Muir met Bishop in 1975, when Bishop was a Marine Scout Sniper during the Vietnam War. In 1976, Muir recruited Bishop as a CIA asset in Berlin, where Bishop was tasked with procuring assets in East Germany. Then he discusses Bishop’s spy work in Beirut in 1985, during the War of the Camps, which was their last mission together. We see events unfold in detail via flashback scenes.

Bishop is troubled by Muir’s conviction that civilian “assets” who endangered a mission should be sacrificed to preserve the “greater good.” After Bishop attempts to countermand Muir during a mission to save the life of an asset, Muir makes clear that he will not tolerate dissent, and would not rescue Bishop if he was captured going “off the reservation”.

During a mission in Lebanon, Bishop, posing as a photojournalist, meets relief worker Elizabeth Hadley. While using her to connect with an asset for the mission, they became romantically involved. Muir distrusts Hadley, and reveals to Bishop that she was exiled from the UK. Hadley later confesses to Bishop that she was involved in the bombing of a Chinese building in Britain, which was supposed to be empty but contained Chinese nationals. Bishop reveals to Hadley his true identity.

Muir elects again to sacrifice a civilian asset for the sake of their mission, and Bishop cuts professional ties with Muir. Muir, fearing that Hadley could be a threat to the Agency and potentially Bishop, makes a deal with the Chinese, exchanging Hadley in return for an arrested US diplomat. Chinese agents kidnap Hadley, and a Dear John letter is forged and left for Bishop.

In the present, Muir recognizes that Bishop went to China for Hadley. In a series of misdirections, he forges a directive signed by the CIA director to begin “Operation Dinner Out”, a rescue mission spearheaded by a SEAL team that Bishop had developed as a “Plan B” for his own attempt at rescuing Hadley. Using $282,000 of his life savings and a misappropriated file on Chinese coastline satellite imagery, Muir enlists the help of his Hong Kong colleague in bribing a Chinese energy official to cut power to the prison for 30 minutes, during which time the SEAL rescue team will retrieve Bishop and Hadley.

Harker is suspicious that Muir is working against the CIA, but when he confronts Muir before the gathered executives, Muir “confesses” to unprofessionally using company resources to gather information about his intended retirement home, which he has distorted the evidence to support.

Bishop is rescued along with Hadley, and infers that Muir was responsible when he hears the pilot refer to Operation Dinner Out, which was also the code name for an operation Bishop used to get a birthday gift for Muir while they were in Lebanon. When the CIA officials are belatedly informed of the rescue, Muir has already left the building and is seen driving safely off into the countryside.

Muir’s actions are justifiable, at least in his own eyes. He set Bishop on this ‘rogue’ action by capturing Hadley and trading her to the Chinese. He shouldn’t have done that. Now on his last day at work, he has 24 hours to get them both out of the Suzhou prison. He cuts corners, steals files, nicks badges, and forges the director’s signature to do it.

All in a day’s work for the CIA.

John Drake: America’s “Secret Agent” Man

Patrick McGoohan (March 19, 1928 – January 13, 2009)

I’m being a bit cheeky here, since John Drake’s and Patrick McGoohan’s birth time and date are identical. And (t)he(y) was/were born in Astoria, New York. That’s surprising.

But Patrick may have understood something about himself that made it important to have John Drake be identical to him. His birth chart shows us what that something is.

Yup, Neptune in Leo in the 7th House (‘open enemies’). The oppositions to the Ascendant/Moon conjunction (in Aquarius) and the Mercury/Venus conjunction in Pisces has “Spy” written all over them. (Having an inconjunct linking the Sun and Neptune only adds to the intrigue.)

But, of course, that’s not all: Mars (conjunct the Ascendant in Aquarius in the ‘unconscious’ 12th House) is inconjunct Pluto in Gemini. Patrick probably feels a compulsion to expose the ‘secret’ life to the light of day, or at least to the viewing public.

So Mr McGoohan was ‘typecast’ as the ultimate Danger Man.

And We Thought: It’s Just a TV Show…

The Prisoner (1967-1968)

I was a great fan of Patrick McGoohan. I’d watched him as John Drake in Danger Man (a British B&W TV show from ITV). When this new show came out, I watched it, too. But it was too different to really enjoy properly. Too psychedelic. (Or was that The Avengers?)

“I am not a number, I am a free man.”

Sure you are…

I didn’t know about MK-Ultra in those days. Now I can see that this show tried to open our eyes to what was going on behind the scenes during that time period. We never knew. (There are none so blind as those who will not see.)

Portmeirion is a real village. It is still there, but now seen mostly as a tourist attraction. The look and layout of the buildings give it an unreal appearance. It’s perfect as a psychiatric hospital/prison location. And, seemingly, there’s no escape from it.

From Number Six to Number One

“A high-ranking but unnamed Agent in the British Government resigns from his job/post and leaves for a holiday. While packing he is gassed and is taken to a beautiful but deadly prison known only as “The Village” where people are taken, given a Number to be called by and kept there for the rest of their lives if they don’t tell No. 2 (the deputy head of “The Village”) the information they are captured for. Escape is nearly impossible as “The Village” has amazing but deadly weapons to use if anybody tries to escape. The Agent is given the title of “No. 6” but he adopts the name of “The Prisoner”. The series tells of his attempts to resist the plots of each No. 2 (who is replaced with another if an attempt on No. 6 fails) to get his information and against any attempt to disrupt the nearly peaceful running of the “The Village”. The Village is determined to crack The Prisoner by attempting to get the answer to why he resigned from his job/post. As time goes on, two questions plague The Prisoner’s mind – How can he escape and who is the real leader of the Village – the mysterious No. 1?.”

(plot summary from IMDb)

What makes this show ultimately fascinating is the unspoken question: “Is The Prisoner actually No. 1?” That means that he did this to himself to see if the mind-control methods really work, and to weed out ineffective subordinates. (I may have borrowed this idea from others’ speculations, but it seems to me to be the only thing that works.)

“According to script editor and co-creator George Markstein, Number Six resigned from his position after discovering files indicating the existence of the Village. The Village was an idea Number Six had submitted to his superiors many years before but had since decided was monstrously inhumane.” (from IMDb)

Number 6: Where am I?

Number Two: In the village.

Number 6: What do you want?

Number Two: Information.

Number 6: Whose side are you on?

Number Two: That would be telling. We want information… information… information!

Number 6: You won’t get it!

Number Two: By hook or by crook, we will.

Number 6: Who are you?

Number Two: The new Number Two.

Number 6: Who is Number One?

Number Two: You are[,] Number Six.

Number 6: I am not a number; I AM A FREE MAN!

Number Two: [laughter]

Is Castaneda’s Assemblage Point an Alien Implant?

Courtesy of healingnexus.com

David Wilcock Discusses One Aspect of Dr. Pete Peterson’s Work

Pete also was involved in a program in which the nervous system was mapped out in meticulous detail. He discovered that we have a dimple in the middle of each shoulder blade where a huge cluster of nerve fibers all intersect before going on up to the brain. He said this serves no practical purpose for the body, other than that it feels terrific when the area is massaged. These nerve clusters are believed to be a product of intelligent genetic tinkering with the human body, such as by extraterrestrials. Pete and his insiders feel we were meant to use these areas once we learned how to access them. Special energetic fields can pump visual information, sounds, and thoughts directly into the brain through these areas, which they call “ports.”

Wilcock, David. The Ascension Mysteries (pp. 324-325). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.

Sometimes, it takes a couple of centuries to completely understand what a seer was trying to say. And even though I have a connection to Blake, these things can slip past me, too. It took David Wilcock to bring it all together for me, today…

The Chrysalis has a good explanation as to what this might mean when discussing Castaneda’s term. They liken it to Blake’s illustration of the “Fourfold Humanity”.

‘As described to Castaneda by his teacher, don Juan, the assemblage point is a point on the outer circumference or shell of the luminous sphere that we are essentially and appear to those who “see” — seers. The assemblage point appears about an arm’s length from the middle of the shoulder blades on the surface of the luminous body. This luminous sphere, luminous egg, or luminous body, as described by don Juan, bears a striking resemblance to William Blake’s illustration of the “fourfold Humanity”.’

This has now been adapted further to show the intersection of 4 kinds of ‘knowledge’:

Courtesy of Wikibooks

From: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/User:Tomruen/Schumacher_system_of_knowing

The four fields of knowledge are:

  1. I → inner
  2. I → other persons (inner)
  3. other persons → I
  4. I → the world

These four fields arise from combining two pairs: Myself and the World; and Outer Appearance and Inner Experience. He notes that humans only have direct access to fields one and four.

Field one is being aware of your feelings and thoughts and most closely correlates to self awareness. He argues this is fundamentally the study of attention. He differentiates between when your attention is captured by the item it focuses upon, which is when a human being functions much like a machine; and when a person consciously directs their attention according to their choosing. This for him is the difference between being lived and living.

Field two is being aware of what other people are thinking and feeling.

Despite these problems we do experience a ‘meeting of minds’ with other individuals at certain times. People are even able to ignore the words actually said, and say something like “I don’t agree with what you are saying; but I do agree with what you mean.” Schumacher argues that one of the reasons we can understand other people is through bodily experience, because so many bodily expressions, gestures and postures are part of our common human heritage.

Schumacher observes that the traditional answer to the study of field two has been “You can understand others to the extent you understand yourself.” Schumacher points out that this a logical development of the principle of adequateness, how can you understand someone’s pain unless you too have experienced pain?

Field three is understanding yourself as an objective phenomenon. Knowledge in field three requires you to be aware what other people think of you.

Schumacher observes that relying on just field one knowledge makes you feel that you are the centre of the universe; while focusing on field three knowledge makes you feel that you are far more insignificant. Seeking self-knowledge via both fields provides more balanced and accurate self-knowledge.

Field four is the behaviourist study of the outside world. Science is highly active in this area of knowledge and many people believe it is the only field in which true knowledge can be gained. For Schumacher, applying the scientific approach is highly appropriate in this field.

Blake’s Short Poem (in an 1802 letter to Thomas Butts)

Now I fourfold vision see

And a fourfold vision is given to me

Tis fourfold in my supreme delight

And three fold in soft Beulahs night

And twofold Always. May God us keep

From Single vision & Newtons sleep

[Amen.]

Astrology: Can Transgender Issues Show Up in a Birth Chart?

From Chastity to Chaz Bono

This is purely speculative on my part: I wanted to see if the aspects in a birth chart can give us a clue as to why someone would decide to change gender. Seems I guessed right.

There are three sets of planetary pairs which speak very loudly to me: Mars and Neptune conjunct (but in different signs) in the 12th House; Venus and Saturn conjunct in Aries in the 4th House; and Jupiter and Uranus conjunct in Libra in the 10th House.

Mars (in Sagittarius)/Neptune (in Scorpio)

The main problem with this aspect is that you tend to get discouraged. You do not have as much energy as other people, usually not because you are physically weak but because you are too easily discourage by opposition from persons or circumstances. You are not a very aggressive person. It is not that you are especially shy or reluctant to assert yourself, but you feel sure that in a direct confrontation with someone, you will lose. More than most people, you need abundant support and encouragement from your parents. If they are excessively critical or unsupportive, it will have a very negative effect on you.

The danger is that if this tendency to be discouraged is not checked, you may develop a defeatist attitude toward life. Or what is worse, you may assert yourself in underhanded ways so that no one can see what you are doing and try to stop you.

(My assessment: this combination happened before birth, when the decision to be male [Mars] was muddied up [Neptune] by the fact that the genetics were for a female body.)

Venus Conjunct Saturn (both in Aries)

This aspect usually means that you don’t feel that it is proper to show affection very openly. You feel affectionate, but you don’t show it outwardly. Unfortunately, you may think that you are unworthy of being loved, so you hold your feelings in to keep from being hurt by someone who rejects you. It is very important for your growth that your parents be very loving and warm.

This aspect usually means that you are more serious than other people of your age. It is hard for you to let go and just have a good time. You are quiet, restrained and rather shy, and you may prefer being with older people. Later, when you have relationships with the opposite sex, this pattern may cause you to seek out older persons, as if you are looking for a parent figure.

(My assessment: the confusion of being daddy’s little girl and still needing her mother’s love may have doubled when daddy and mommy divorced. Then the roles reversed.)

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus (both in Libra)

You have a great need to be free, and you hate to be restricted in any way. This can create problems in school if you don’t want to go by the required program. At the same time, you have an advantage in that your mind is quick and eager for new knowledge and a greater range of experience.

At the same time you are quite willing to let others do what they want, as long as they do not try to control you. In fact, as you get older, you will be unusually tolerant of points of view that are different from your own. According to your liberal temperament, everyone should be allowed to be themselves.

(My assessment: liberal thinking and fundamental change go hand-in-hand with this combination, and because they are in Libra, a balance of energies must be maintained.)

Other Astrological Factors

The Moon is very pivotal to the whole chart. The Moon represents Mother. There’s a T-square involving the Moon, the Sun and the Ascendant. That’s a powerful motivator. And the Moon inconjunct Mercury brings a (not-so) subtle effect on his/her thinking.

At the same time, the Venus/Saturn conjunction is inconjunct to Pluto. If ever there was a way to shake things up, Pluto would overturn everything to make its effect felt.

May 6, 2010

This is the birth chart for when Chaz Bono became a legal entity. There’s one Yod, pointing at Neptune in Aquarius. So it really was Neptune (here conjunct with the Moon) in the end. Let’s look at the transition by combining these two charts, now.

The ‘event’ Mercury is now the apex of a Yod whose inconjuncts are ‘natal’ Mars and ‘natal’ Jupiter/Uranus conjunct. (Note the recurrence of a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction, this time in Pisces with Saturn opposed to them both.) Everything comes when it should. Even the ‘natal’ Part of Fortune is conjunct the ‘event’ Venus, which is opposite the ‘natal’ Ascendant. Chaz must be very pleased with the result.

They say that one cannot understand another person unless they have walked a mile in their moccasins. This is a perfect example of the maxim:

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

See? I Told You We’d Been Programmed (back in the 60’s)

I’m a Canadian, so this didn’t directly involve me, but if the Americans were doing this way back when, I’ll lay odds that Canadian television had similar subliminal messages.

When I was a kid, if you stayed up late enough watching TV, you would see a short video that played the National Anthem while showing images of flags waving and various national landmarks. It always felt very creepy to watch this for some inexplicable reason. Afterward the broadcast would suddenly die, creating a lonely mess of moving black and white dots called “snow” and a loud hissing noise. On November 11, 2009, an anonymous individual uploaded a YouTube video of one of these old clips, saying, “I salvaged this reel of film from a TV station that used to sign off with it during the 1960s.” The uploader later posted a comment indicating the original reel was found in Alabama, dated 1963, and the clip was probably broadcast in several states during the 1960s. Two years after the video was first uploaded, someone discovered that it contained subliminal text, and the news quickly went viral. The words to the National Anthem are spelled out, appearing on the screen from left to right. However, as the words first materialize, a different set of words appears beneath them with the same basic font. The hidden words never appear all at once, and you need to slow the video down to a quarter of its normal speed to see the messages. The disguised text appears in approximately the same area as the words that then remain on the screen. The subliminal commands that appear in the video are as follows:

TRUST THE US GOVERNMENT

GOD IS REAL GOD IS WATCHING

BELIEVE IN GOVERNMENT GOD

REBELLION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

OBEY CONSUME OBEY CONSUME

BUY ULTRA BUY NAOMI

WORSHIP CONSUME OBEY BELIEVE

DO NOT QUESTION GOVERNMENT

Wilcock, David. The Ascension Mysteries (p. 319). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.

(I watched the video myself, and the first word of the subliminal message in each line can be seen at regular speed, but disappears so quickly with the overlay of the words to the American national anthem that it made me doubt what I was seeing.)

Here’s a couple of photos to prove it:

COVID-19: It’s Beginning to Feel Like an Experiment

Lab Rat in a Box

I’ve mostly stayed out of the conversation, lately, since no one likes to talk about the coronavirus pandemic (irony), now entering into the 2nd wave, according to our Prime Minister. His (nonpolitical) television ‘lecture’ last night, following yesterday’s Throne Speech, basically told us that we need to download a free app which will notify us if we’ve been in contact with someone who later tests positive for COVID-19.

That’s a bit too late. Between the time of the supposed contact and the health diagnosis, a week could have elapsed, and more people would have been infected. This isn’t good.

And, if we’ve learned anything about the ultimate cost of ‘free’ anything (see Facebook), we will be tracked everywhere and our casual contact with complete strangers will be logged for future reference. (It’s a brilliant surveillance tool.)

Why IT Won’t Work

First of all, not everyone has a mobile phone. Secondly, some people will refuse to download the app, even when it’s free. And thirdly, but most importantly, some (like me) leave their cellphones at home.

If you, as a government, cannot get everyone on board, the gaps in your ‘knowledge’ will be big enough to drive a tank through. This is doomed to failure.

Conclusion

In the minds of those who devised this app, the purpose was to actually warn you that someone near you in the restaurant or food store has COVID-19 and is not self-isolating.

In other words, another way to scare us all into compliance.

And, for some, a way to scare us to death.
