The Junior US Senator from Vermont

Bernie Sanders

In a short discussion on yesterday’s post, a fellow astrologer, Steve Kinsman, wrote this:

If you look at the horoscope for the inauguration (January 20, 2021, 12:03 PM, Washington, D.C.), a triple conjunction of the Sun, Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius is squared by a triple conjunction of a void moon at 29 Aries and Mars/Uranus in Taurus. You can read it as a moderate wins (Mayor Pete or Joe Biden) and he is constantly challenged by the party’s left flank (Moon, Mars, Uranus). Additionally, you can read the chart as a whole, seeing the presence of Uranus squaring Sun-Saturn-Jupiter and in conjunction with the moon and Mars as the signature of a radical, even revolutionary administration (Bernie or Elizabeth). The void moon portends that the new president will not finish his or her term.

This is why we astrologers need other astrologers to keep us in check. His point about the Moon/Mars/Uranus conjunction is what I’d overlooked.

The Next Presidential Administration

But I wonder if Steve is correct in thinking that this is a Democratic presidency. All signs point toward Trump triumphing again. However, the knives will definitely be out if he does win.

Sanders’ Birth Chart

SandersBernieWREJC1

Right away, I can see the point that Steve was making: Bernie has a Moon/Mars conjunction in Aries. But Pete Buttigieg has a Moon/Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius. That’s perhaps why these two men are neck-and-neck in this Democratic race. And both are widely popular in a way that surprises the pundits. (To be honest, the media thought it was going to be a race between Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren.)

But now I’m going to divert from discussing Bernie Sanders’ chart to analyzing the next Democrat Presidential candidate.

Bernie as President?

AdminNextPresidentialWBAGE1

The only direct hits I can see involve the North Node in the Next Admin’s chart and Bernie’s Jupiter (justice) in Gemini, and the South Node in Bernie’s chart with the Next Admin’s Neptune. That may prove significant, and fated.

The Moon/Mars linkup in the Next Admin’s chart is almost matched by Bernie’s Moon/Mars linkup. The fact that both Moons are in Aries may be the most significant echo. My only quibble is that they are in the 12th House of the Next Admin’s chart and that feels like an undercurrent of expression rather than the actual experience of being.

But this quibble could be defeated by Bernie choosing Kamala Harris as his running mate. Then her energy would double the popular vote power. Her Moon is at 27º Aries 39′, the closest conjunction to the Next Admin’s Moon that is possible in this instance.

Buttigieg as President?

AdminNextPresidentialWBAGE3

The Sun in both charts are ‘close enough for jazz’ (Stan Freberg – Heartbreak Hotel). And the fact that they are conjunct to the Next Admin’s Midheaven (cusp of the 10th House) indicates that Pete may actually be the man for the job. But, as Steve says, he will be under pressure from the Democrat’s extreme left to make radical changes. We shall see.

Is This ‘New’ Man the Next US President?

1203894121.jpg.0

Pete Buttigieg

OK. Everybody take a deep breath. The surprise candidate at the Iowa caucuses this week was Alfred E. Neuman. So far, he is leading Bernie Sanders by a couple of percentage points. The Democratic Presidential Candidate for 2020 is coming down to a contest between the old man and the young boy. Oh, and Pete is openly gay.

But is he a winner? He thinks he is, having declared on Monday night, BEFORE the results were announced the next day, that he had won. How did he know? Hmmm.

His Birth Chart

Before I go into what his chart may look like, a word of warning: the only detail astrologers have about his birth time is that it was at night. So, hedging their bets, all of them have decided to take the mean time of 9:00 p.m. That gives Pete a very bland birth chart (and I mean that in the nicest possible way).

Knowing how dark winter nights are here in North America, I decided to move the clock back three hours to 6:00 p.m. That way, his becoming Mayor of South Bend shows up at the age of 30, the timing when Mercury is in a 7th House Aquarius position.

ButtigiegPeteWREJC1A

Now his Ascendant is 3º Leo. That’s a good place to be if you want to lead the western world. There were two career choices that make him an ideal candidate for the Presidency, serving in the military, and being a naval intelligence officer. Being the mayor seems to be a sideline job, in the sense that it was just a way to dip his toe into the political pool. But if you look at the first three planets in the ‘railroad’ sequence, it is significant that they are Mars (soldier), Saturn (government) and Pluto (secrets) in Libra (balance). Ahh, now it makes sense.

And do you see that Moon/Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius the 5th House? That’s his appeal to voters of all political stripes, including LGBTQ electors. Bernie cannot compete with that, as he is only a ‘progressive socialist’, with an appeal mainly to the young, who are fickle in politics, ready to abandon the process at a moment’s notice.

And, to be reflective and retrospective, JFK was previously the youngest person to be elected President in 1960, and he was a sailor, too.

Something about a man in uniform, I guess.

But only time and circumstance can tell how this will all turn out.

Adapting to Adoption

Adoption-words

A Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there was a little child who needed a new family to keep her safe and secure. Then she was adopted. After some traumatic adventures, some good and some bad, she lived happily ever after.

But fairy tales are really nasty and cruel, even though everyone wants a ‘happily ever after’ ending. In reality, adoption is a two-edged sword: it cuts both ways.

Our Family Dynamic

My two daughters with their mother, 1993

My daughter, Rosanna, is visiting from the UK, at the moment. Her ‘excuse’ to come is my 70th birthday, which looms on the horizon. But her secret mission is to visit with her niece, Brigitte, her sister Amy’s child, now adopted by Susan’s son and daughter-in-law.

This family was fractured by Brigitte’s adoption. On the one hand, she’s still within our extended family, but, on the other hand, she is cut off from her birth mother. Brigitte’s adoptive parents don’t want her childhood to be derailed by contact with Amy. So, to keep her ‘safe’, none of us on the Miller side are allowed to share photos of Brigitte on social media platforms. The same restriction is not made for the maternal side of her new family. It’s frustrating, to be sure, and it makes for a fountain of tears, at times.

A Long Line of Adoptees

It’s staggering: the number of people in my family tree who have been adopted is astonishing. It’s almost like we needed to experience all the permutations and combinations of adoption that are possible.

It started with my mother. She never knew her birth mother. Then I was born, but my father never confirmed paternity until I was almost 25. In the meantime, I was adopted by Mom’s second husband, Rus. Then my own son, Derek, was adopted by his mother’s second husband. Then, after my second marriage, I adopted Suzann’s daughter, Amy. Again, the echo through these two examples matches my experience of being with my mother and getting a new father.

Then the new twist that goes back to Mom’s experience of being adopted, practically from birth: my sister, Elizabeth, had a baby she called Eloise. As Liz was schizophrenic, she had to give her baby up. Amy, now a grown woman, with ongoing mental health issues, had a similar situation with Brigitte, which is why we are where we are, today.

Brigitte was three years old when she was placed in a new family situation; Derek was that age when I left him and his mother. Children that age have a fragmented but hidden memory of their ‘missing’ parent. But it becomes buried underneath new memories being made all the time.

Nature vs. Nurture

Let’s talk about genetics, shall we?

It was a very informative session yesterday in my computer room: Rosanna and I were discussing my favourite books from my library, there. Brigitte joined us. She started sketching a pair of lips, a procedure her friend Katie had showed her in a dream the night before. Then she added a nose, two eyes, the outline of a face, and hair. (Subsequently, she removed the hair, so that only the facial features remained.)

84315455_1248276768694546_821808718977957888_n (1)

Brigitte is 11 years old.

The image, as it was developing, looked just like Amy does now. Rosanna and I kept exchanging knowing looks. Brigitte hasn’t seen a photo of her birth mother in years.

Oh, and this is the point, entirely, Amy is an artist, too.

Conclusion

By the time Brigitte is 16, five years from now, she may express an interest in finding Mummy Amy, as she knows to call her. That’s not that far away, now.

In the meantime, I have a family tree on ancestry.ca that holds the key to her unconscious memories and family lines. And a load of photographs.

So, whether I am here to help the rediscovery process or not, my online footprint is.

Trump vs. Biden: Mission Accomplished?

hqdefault

Election Night 2020 (courtesy of YouTube)

Fantasy Pools, Anyone?

There are just nine months until the next POTUS is elected. The above image was someone’s ‘ideal’ matchup. But all bets are off, now.

Donald J. Trump will be ‘cleared’ of committing “high crimes and misdemeanors” when the Senate Republicans vote to NOT remove him from office tomorrow. After all it was a partisan ‘witch hunt’ perpetrated by the Congressional Democrats to take him out of the 2020 race. In other words, the winning side gets to write history, yet again.

Joe Biden, on the other hand, suffered a bit of a setback in Iowa last night, being bested by Bernie Sanders, the ‘socialist’ Democrat who is trying for the second time to become the Democratic presidential candidate.

And Iowa Caucuses have yet again muddied the pool. If the results don’t get fully published, just note that the Democratic Party officials are not wanting Bernie’s popularity to ‘infect’ other states’ primaries. (Feels like Jeremy Corbyn, all over again.)

That Phone Call

Trump purpose in extracting a promise from the President of Ukraine to announce an investigation of corruption involving Biden’s son was to besmirch Joe’s reputation as an ‘honest’ man. What Trump didn’t expect was that it would besmirch his own name: “once impeached, always impeached.”

However clumsy Trump’s attempt at political assassination, even shooting himself in the presidential foot, he has succeeded in making Biden less of a threat next November.

Therefore, it is Mission Accomplished!

Is It Time to Focus on Your Life?

funnel-focus-graphic

If you’re anything like me, you will wake up in the middle of the night, and just lay there, thinking about yesterday and pondering what tomorrow will bring.

And in the middle of your musings, do you get the feeling that you’re wasting time?

Because I was born @ 3:49 a.m., I use the excuse that that time is when my day starts.

What’s your excuse?
