Ever Feel Like You’ve Been Here Before?

Groundhog Day (1993)

Today, February 2nd, 2020, is Groundhog Day. It’s the same every year: if the groundhog sees his shadow, we’ll have six more weeks of winter; if it doesn’t, it’ll be an early spring.

No-one seems to get it. Spring comes on March 21st, no matter what.

But what if we had to repeat it, over and over again, until we get it right? That’s Phil Connor’s dilemma, and ours: we have to watch him try and fail, over and over again. Until the end.

Then we realize that it was just a test, to get him to become aware of other people.

Comedy carries this along, mostly on Bill Murray’s coat tails, but imagine if we were his guardian angel or spirit guide: we’d be cheering him on, until he finally got the girl.

Enough said, to avoid repeating myself endlessly.

Mars Transit Neptune: Accident in a Fog

200201145154-kobe-bryant-memorial-staples-center-large-169

Kobe Bryant (1978 – 2020)

I waited a week before attempting this post. As I’m not a big basketball fan, this accidental death of one of the NBA’s biggest stars didn’t affect me as much as it did others. The tributes (shown above) rival Diana’s in heartfelt sentiment, but may never be able to match the volume after her death in 1997. Kobe was no People’s Princess.

Birth Chart

BryantKobeWREJC1

Kobe’s birth time is a ‘best guess’ based on a birth announcement from August 1978. No one can find the source, now, but the energy in his chart seems to fit. (Other astrologers have posted what it all means, so my suggestion is that you read their posts, if you’re curious.)

My focus, as always is on the Accident chart, to see if there are ties with his birth chart.

Accident Chart Comparison

The timing of the accident is sometime around the loss of the helicopter from radar screens. As always, a Finger of God  (Yod) shows up which confirms both charts. But even better, there are two Yods: both involve the natal Saturn Inconjunct the ‘fatal’ Ascendant.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose. This is not true, however, because playing has a positive and useful function in the development of the adult mind and body. Not only does it serve to release tensions, but it also actually helps train you in social and physical skills that will be useful in any work you do later.

Very interesting, of course, but not strictly speaking prophetic.

The ‘exact’ conjunction of his natal Neptune with the ‘fatal’ Mars is what caught my eye.

Mars Conjunct Neptune

(From Planets in Transit by Robert Hand – pages 249-250)

This is a very peculiar transit and is usually accompanied by strange feelings. You are likely to feel extremely irritable and itchy without quite knowing why. And at the same time you may feel discouraged and incapable of doing anything useful. Feelings of weakness and inferiority are quite common with this transit, the result of Neptune’s ego-denying quality in conflict with the essentially egoistic nature of Mars. It is best not to take these feelings too seriously.

You should be careful to avoid any kind of Neptune-dominated activity during this period, including actions that are ill-thought-out or based on personal delusions rather than on facts. Make sure that you know what you are doing under this transit. Better yet, don’t start anything new, except for the kinds of activities mentioned below [but not included here]. Also you should be careful of people who appeal to you through your favorite ideals or delusions and then take you for a ride. Your delusions may be the basis of someone else’s success.

Conclusion

I’ll leave the final words to Kobe Bryant, himself.

Are Consumers Being Led by the Nose?

Shopping centre supermarket plan iso flattened

Supermarket Sales Tricks

While walking the dogs, I started thinking about our preferences as to where we like to go in supermarkets. You see, one dog likes to walk on the right, while the other likes the left. It makes no sense logically, but every bit psychologically.

The illustration, above, shows some of the tricks used by merchandizers. But the “Start Right Here” note seems wrong to my shopper’s eyes. Most supermarkets actually want you to begin on the left side in order to get you to circle the whole store before you come to the cashiers.

Hunting versus Grazing

Men and women shop differently. It’s a proven fact. And it may be due to the genetic programming from our ancient ancestors.

If a man is shopping for a few essentials, he will head straight for the bread and milk sections of the store. A woman will see what’s on sale, along the way. Which is why the supermarkets are set out the way they are: they are trying to make it an interesting shopping experience for the female of the species. That way, more money is involved.

But the other point I wish to make is that, upon entering a supermarket, women like to turn left, men go to the right…

The Holy Spirit Personified?

The Good Place - Season 3

Janet from The Good Place.

I wanted to acknowledge the finale of The Good Place. It was satisfying in a way most others aren’t. But I can’t say why, because my daughter may not have seen it yet.

So, instead, here’s a mashup of Janet’s finest moments.

Wave Goodbye

Chidi’s final gift to Eleanor was an interesting metaphor.

And that, my friends, is all I wish to say.

Let My People Go!

The Ten Plagues of Egypt

OK. I don’t want to seem alarmist, but a news item about a swarm of locusts in East Africa has perked up my interest. When you add the Australia wildfires to the mix, it would appear that we are in the middle of a series of plagues. This time they’re striking the world, not just Egypt (as stated in Exodus).

So, what are we to make of this?

It might be obvious to some, but I need to remind you that Egypt is ‘code’ for the world: the world as the material universe, not a spiritual one. We are all just Prodigal Sons…

What do you think?

More Newspeak: Converging Harmony

unnamed

[There may be some reading this post, today, who may think that I am mocking spiritual endeavours. Let me say, here and now, that I have the utmost respect for the spiritual work that is being done. In fact I’ve written about this event before. My purpose here is to poke a bit of fun at those who don’t believe in such things.]

harmonic convergence

Auspicious time of galactic conjunction that allegedly took place in August 1987, having apparently been predicted by the ancient Maya and José Argüelles; marked by some 144,000 people standing around in white sheets at power points such as Mount Shasta and Glastonbury Tor, waiting for angels or extraterrestrials to get off their backsides and do something, as apparently promised in St. John’s Revelation (see Bible).

“Beam me up, Scotty!”

So far as I know, Scotty didn’t. Much too busy coping with the groggy inverters, I imagine.

As most of the sheets have now been returned, guests are once more welcome to apply for accommodation at Findhorn and other New Age communities. Until next time, that is. See convergence, and hang about in Cairo.

Two More Spiritual Newspeak Terms

english-knockout

logophilia

Addiction to words. Belief that all words contain hidden meanings, provided that you have the time and patience to look up their constituent parts in enough different languages (however unrelated); or that given sounds and letters have a constant meaning across all languages; or that words can be reduced to numbers and so be decoded in that way (see gematria, numerology).

Anything, in short, rather than discover the hidden meaning of yourself.

(Page 141 – The New Age Lexicon – Peter Lemesurier)

materialism

Belief that matter is literally all that matters; modern version of the ancient cult of the Earth Mother ( = “mater”); form of superstition based on a failure to recognize that seeing is believing. Now going out of fashion, not merely among New Agers, but even among some scientists.

Perhaps that is why, to preserve the balance of the universe (see duality, holism), materialism of the crassest kind is currently growing in favor in the world of politics.
