Retirement in the mid-60’s

Flowers on the Wall (1966)

I keep hearin’ you’re concerned about my happiness
But all that thought you’re givin’ me is conscience I guess
If I was walkin’ in your shoes, I wouldn’t worry none
While you ‘n’ your friends are worried about me I’m havin’ lots of fun
.
Countin’ flowers on the wall
That don’t bother me at all
Playin’ solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin’ cigarettes and watchin’ Captain Kangaroo
Now don’t tell me I’ve nothin’ to do
.
Last night I dressed in tails, pretended I was on the town
As long as I can dream it’s hard to slow this swinger down
So please don’t give a thought to me, I’m really doin’ fine
You can always find me here, I’m havin’ quite a time
.
Countin’ flowers on the wall
That don’t bother me at all
Playin’ solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin’ cigarettes and watchin’ Captain Kangaroo
Now don’t tell me I’ve nothin’ to do
.
It’s good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright
Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light
And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete
So I must go back to my room and make my day complete
.
Countin’ flowers on the wall
That don’t bother me at all
Playin’ solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin’ cigarettes and watchin’ Captain Kangaroo
Now don’t tell me I’ve nothin’ to do
.
Don’t tell me I’ve nothin’ to do
.

So Sorry: We have to Apologize again

Trudeau

Justin Trudeau

Canadians say ‘sorry’ a lot. It must be something they put in the water. Just yesterday, Trudeau apologized to a Grassy Narrows protestor who crashed a Liberal fundraiser the night before, trying to highlight the mercury poisoning of their people. His reason? He had been ‘disrespectful’ by making a sarcastic comment (“Thank you very much for the donation” [see comment below]) when the protestor was being removed.

Honestly, something is going terribly wrong when a political leader feels he must apologize for a bit of light-hearted repartee. Shouldn’t the protestor have apologized for crashing the fundraiser? But that wouldn’t have made headlines, would it?

Just last week, Trudeau had to apologize to Parliament for breaking the rules about ‘no food’ in the House of Commons. This was during the marathon Budget vote instigated by the Conservatives to protest the Justice Committee’s shutdown of the SNC-Lavalin affair. What had he done? He’s eaten a candy bar at his seat.

Does Trudeau Say “Sorry” Too Often?

3500

Last May, the Guardian newspaper wrote an opinion piece about the fact that Trudeau has apologized publicly so often. Then the BBC picked up the same thread a few days later. I suspect the Brits don’t understand our nation’s need to make amends for so many injustices that have been committed over our short-ish history.

Besides, women like to see a man being ‘sensitive’. That has been Trudeau’s trump card.

Now, it seems, it is also one of his weaknesses being exploited by the media. If they report every time he says ‘sorry’, the effect of his public pronouncements gets diluted.

This is, after all, an election year, and there is nothing more interesting for newscasters and editors than a close race. A sure bet wouldn’t sell newspapers or advertising at all.

Conclusion

As a citizen of Canada, I, too, am sorry for the things that were done to racial and cultural minorities in my name (even if they were done before I was born), but, like all acts of contrition, there can be too much of a ‘good thing’ which, in the end, ruins the effect.

Maybe the election this year will help Trudeau see that his lachrymose tears are no longer required. Maybe he’ll become a man again and lead us to a better future.

And, maybe, hell might freeze over.

The Origins of “CABAL”

Qabalistic Tree of Life

The Kabbalah

I was researching the life of Charles II, when I came across an interesting item on Wikipedia:

There is a theory that the term took on its present meaning from a group of ministers formed in 1668 – the “Cabal ministry” of King Charles II of England. Members included Sir Thomas Clifford, Lord Arlington, the Duke of Buckingham, Lord Ashley, and Lord Lauderdale, whose initial letters coincidentally spelled CABAL, and who were the signatories of the Secret Treaty of Dover that allied England to France in a prospective war against the Netherlands. The theory that the word originated as an acronym from the names of the group of ministers is a folk etymology, although the coincidence was noted at the time and could possibly have popularized its use.

In those days, secrets were part of Jewish mysticism and the term Cabal, which derived from Kabbalah (also spelled Cabala), meant anything that implied a ‘behind-the-scenes’ manipulation of events.

David Wilcock uses the term a lot.

The Final Days of “Peter” Radisson

5855169_orig

First Paragraph of his Last Will and Testament

Looks like I should not have trusted the resources I used yesterday. They state that Pierre’s death and burial were unknown. Small detail: they (and I) forgot to look for information regarding Peter Radisson. This yielded two gems: the image above and the one following:

2389557_orig

The entry, second from the bottom, shows that he died on June 21st, 1710, and was buried at St. Clement Danes Parish Church, Westminster, London, England.

St-Clement-Danes-4281

But what is more interesting is his last known address as stated in the first line of the will: Clare Court.

I’m not sure if it looked this way in 1710, but I have to admit the address is an impressive one. But now I have to revise Radisson’s death date to June 21st. This equates to July 2nd in the Gregorian calendar. (I’ve left the time at 9 am, since I have no way of knowing if it correct or not.)

My Original “Rolling Stone”

original.909

Pierre-Esprit Radisson

I came face-to-face with a solid hologram of myself in last night’s dream: a hint, perhaps, of today’s post. I’ve waited long enough to connect the dots to that life from the middle of the 17th Century. It’s time to face the truth about myself.

Birth/Death

RadissonPierre-EspritWBAGE1

I probably don’t have to remind you that all birth charts of individuals born before 1752 need to be converted from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. As Radisson’s exact death date is unknown, I’ve taken the middle of the estimated June 17th (when he wrote his will) to July 2nd (when his will was probated) and converted that to the Gregorian date of July 7th. I chose his death at 9 am local time, because the death Ascendant is almost exactly on his natal 9th House cusp. (All of this is pure speculation, but it is still useful to our purposes.)

Note the triangular pattern of the aspects. Interesting.

Reincarnational Charts

RadissonPierre-EspritWTADA3

Since the aspect pattern did not change, I can only assume that the addition of my natal chart is superfluous to requirements on that front.

Again, it goes without saying that the comparison of my chart with Radisson’s birth chart is also subjective, except that the timing of his birth was rectified to show that his capture and adoption happened at the ‘right’ age in his teens. This is represented by Pluto as I have previously discussed.

Joint Birth Charts

As our Ascendants are almost perfectly aligned, I would suggest that my impression of being one of the coureurs-des-bois was spot on. Besides, against everyone’s wishes, I have bought and worn leather coats, even when it went against fashionable ethics.

Becky Falls - Nov 1988

As Pierre means “Stone” and Esprit means “Spirit”, I embody his energy, a rolling stone.

Imitation: Musical Theft or Homage?

backintheussrpicturesleeve

Back in the U.S.S.R.

When the double record The Beatles, now known as the White Album, landed in 1968, we all knew that a different side to the Beatles’ creativity was being shown. In fact, I sat with the lyrics insert and jotted down my impressions of the artists and musical styles they were imitating. This song, in particular, reminded me of the Beach Boys, but it seemed to have another influence behind it. That ‘influence’ was Chuck Berry.

The twist in the tale is that the Beach Boys had ‘borrowed’ Sweet Little Sixteen and created Surfin’ USA:

As I have been trying to demonstrate in my “Something Borrowed, Something…” series of blogs, there is nothing new under the sun, especially when it comes to ‘modern’ music. But here’s an example that only spans a decade.

By ‘borrowing’ the title, Back in the USA, and playing it like the Beach Boys, the Beatles paid homage to Chuck Berry in the best way possible…creating a new song:

Bitter Sweet Symphony

In the beginning, this was a Rolling Stones’ song:

Then their manager had an instrumental version recorded with his group, the Andrew Oldham Orchestra:

That’s the version that The Verve sampled for their new song and video:

Something Borrowed, Something True

untitled

I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing

This one started out as a Coca Cola advert in 1971.

The advert proved so popular that the lyrics were adapted to a song which the New Seekers then recorded.

In 2017, the Tenors updated the song as a Christmas hit, Santa’s Wish:

Something Borrowed, Something New

Barracuda

Sometimes, the journey of a song takes a couple of strange turns. Would you believe this one started life as a Joni Mitchell tune?

Then Nazareth covered the song, adding an interesting riff at the beginning:

Heart heard that opening riff and decided to ‘borrow’ it for their song, Barracuda:
