As Missionary to the Huron, He was Killed by the Iroquois

Jean de Brébeuf (March 25, 1593 – March 16, 1649)

I do not wish to speak ill of the dead, but it seems to me that this Jesuit priest tried and failed to bring peace to the Huron and the Iroquois. Ancient enmity is not easily pacified. Sometimes the price is too high. Sometimes it can cost you your life.

Originally, I allowed this birth chart to be randomized, and then realized that by changing the PM to AM, I could rectify the timing, to demonstrate the age (24) when Brébeuf became a Jesuit (Saturn in Cancer). The resulting conjunction between his Ascendant, Mars and Jupiter in Capricorn encapsulates Brébeuf’s attitude and drive. And having the Sun and Pluto conjunct in Aries, would mean that he would not stop until he achieved his goals. The Moon and Venus in Taurus (widely conjunct) in opposition to his Midheaven in Scorpio, is symbolic of the Iroquois nation. Their ‘old ways’ were best, for them.

This ‘death’ chart is accurate in timing, as reported by eye-witnesses to Brébeuf’s torturous end. (One niggle: how did the escaping Huron know the exact time?) Even so, the Moon in Virgo, conjunct the ‘fatal’ Ascendant agrees with my assessment above. In truth, though, the ‘fatal’ Mars in Leo would better reflect his true death time of fifty minutes earlier. The resulting T-squares lock in the idea that this was totally outside Brébeuf’s control. He was but a helpless pawn in this never-ending game of the Iroquois totally wiping out the Huron in Huronia.

Conclusion

As one of the written reports of this martyrdom has pointed out, the Jesuits could have withdrawn back to Quebec until the Indian war was over, but that was not Brébeuf’s way. He was determined to stand firm with his Huron friends, even if it killed him. He got his wish.

It’s an Old, Old, Old, Old Story: Atlantis and the Continental Drift

Pangea

I was watching a replay of ‘The Search for Atlantis’ episode of “The UnXplained” on the History Channel last night: it was discussing (yet again) about all the theories of how Atlantis disappeared beneath the waves in the ancient past. OK. But what about the Continental Drift theory? Could it not be possible that ‘something’ made the tectonic plates move further apart and as a result the land mass we know as Atlantis sunk under the waters of the North Atlantic?

(I have a note on my daily calendar to remind me where I am for reading the Bashar pdf: pages 100-101. Would you believe me if I told you that the passage I was looking for about earth changes as predicted by Edgar Cayce was exactly on those same pages in “Edgar Cayce’s Story of Jesus”? I thought not…)

“These Readings thus state that records of Atlantis, presumably written ones, exist in an undiscovered sructure near the Sphinx. Their discovery would constitute strong evidence of Altantis’ prior existence, as well as confirming the validity of the Cayce Readings. But Cayce did not stop with just this set of predictions. He tied them all together with other prophecies concerning vast earth changes, the reappearance of Poseidia, the beginning of a New Age — and the possibility of the promised return of the Master.”

Q. What great change or the beginning of what change, if any, is to take place in the earth in the year 2000 to 2001 A.D.?

A. When there is a shifting of the poles. Or a new cycle begins.

(826-8)

And Poseidia will be among the first portions of Atlantis to rise again. Expect it in sixty-eight and sixty-nine. (’68 and ’69) Not so far away!

(958-3) (June 28. 1940)

It’s obvious that ‘something’ changed between then and now, causing a delay, but an interesting corollary exists in the fact that we have seen the magnetic North Pole begin to drift out of the Canadian Arctic and into Siberian Russia!

North Atlantic Ocean Seabed

By themselves, these satellite images do not prove the existence of a land mass in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, but they show that something used to poke above the waves at some time in the ancient past. Most of the theories used to focus on the North American/Caribbean side of the North Atlantic, but now researchers are wondering if Plato wasn’t right all the time when he wrote about Atlantis being just outside the ‘Pillars of Hercules’ (the Strait of Gilbraltar). The New World continent was just beyond the Island.

This map is upside-down to our normal PoV

Further Evidence

There was an earthquake along the equator on May 7, 2021. (Honestly, this is news to me, since barely a mention was made at the time on the news cycle…) What is interesting is that there was a similar earthquake (M 6.0) 12 hours before off the coast of Fiji in the South Pacific Ocean. Are they connected? Is the earth shifting even further apart? How far can it go?

Nothing is ever over…

The Huron Didn’t “Eat Him”: They Beat Him in a One-Sided Melee

The Murder of Étienne Brûlé (June 30, 1633)

Fourteen-to-one fight?

When someone is knocked off his high horse, we say he has been brought down a peg or two. The Huron Bear tribe were not cannibals. So the inference that they ate Étienne Brûlé after his death is a misunderstanding of the words they used to express their obvious delight. If he’d still been alive, he would have corrected that erroneous interpretation. The Bear tribe leadership (Aenon) may have had a personal reason for the enmity between them, but their suspicion of treachery of Étienne Brûlé’s relationship with their enemy, the Seneca, was the ‘reason’ for their vengeance. All else is speculation.

The circumstances surrounding his death are shrouded in mystery. For some reason unknown, the Hurons, among whom he had lived as a brother for 20 years, killed him and ate him. The crime weighed upon the whole Huron nation. When Brébeuf returned to Toanché, he found the place deserted. The Bear tribe had abandoned the village and split up. The Bears did not manage to “purge themselves” of this murder, and admitted that “no satisfaction had been obtained” from the interpreter’s death. Pursued by epidemics, haunted by the memory of Brûlé “whose wounds are still bleeding,” they attributed the cause of their misfortunes to the avenging spirit of the dead man’s sister or brother, which, they said, breathed a curse on them. For a long time, suspicion centred on the tribe’s chief, Aenon, but the latter denied that he was guilty. For want of proof, the enigma of Brûlé’s murder remains unsolved.

Biographi.ca

Much of this chart is speculative. No one knows exactly when he was killed, but, by implication, someone matching his description with his interpreting skills was met by one of the French missionaries on June 30th that year, so I’m going with that date, centred on noon of the day.

The most obvious opposition is Saturn in Sagittarius and Pluto in Taurus, at a wide angle of 8°. And his ‘fatal’ North and South Node axis between Aries and Libra is echoed in my own birth chart. Given that I ‘know’ there is a connection between us makes this echo significant.

Comme ça

The triple Yod pointing at his ‘fatal’ Sun/Venus/Midheaven in Cancer is supported by my Sun/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius and my Sagittarius Ascendant. There is also showing a link between his ‘fatal’ Ascendant and my natal Neptune, both of which are in Libra. And finally, my usually un-aspected natal Uranus in Cancer is conjunct within 1° of his ‘fatal’ Mercury.

Do you need anything more?

The True Story of “Me & Bobby McGee”

Kris Kristofferson (June 22, 1936) and Janis Joplin (January 19, 1943)

I was thinking about Kris Kristofferson yesterday, wondering if I remembered how to spell his name. Then I thought about Janis Joplin’s version of his song. This post is the result of those thoughts.

Kris Kristofferson

There is but one inconjunct:

Mercury Inconjunct Ascendant

You are likely to have some problems, but not serious ones, in communicating with others. The problem is that people’s first impression of you may not fit in with what you say or your manner of thinking and speaking. People tend to hear what they expect to hear, and they may not listen to you as carefully as they should. So you will have to be as clear as possible and insist that others listen to what you are really saying. If others do not understand you, it is up to you to set them straight.

Janis Joplin

I’ve looked at Janis’ chart once before in conjunction with a potential reincarnation, see it here. There is a Yod, pointing at the Moon, supported by inconjuncts from Mercury and Midheaven.

Moon Inconjunct Mercury

As you grow older, you will have to learn to make your feelings and your reason work together. The problem is not so much that they come into conflict with each other, but that your reason and feelings represent two very different sides of your personality. When you are calm and collected and able to reflect carefully, you make decisions in one way. But when you are emotionally involved in a situation, you are likely to make up your mind differently, which could cause you to seem inconsistent to others and make it difficult for them to understand you.

Moon Inconjunct Midheaven

With this aspect you must learn to make your emotional needs and desires for pleasure fit in with your growth and development in the world. It is possible that these problems could make it difficult for you to choose a profession or a course that would give your life a sense of purpose. Or you may be unable to follow one path consistently. In other words, your emotional needs may be in conflict with your long-range goals. You may know what you have to do, but not feel much like doing it. Or your feelings may actually color your perception so much that you really do not see what has to be done. Try not to form bad habits, because they are especially likely to create difficulties of this sort.

When Kris Met Janis

Their chart combination has a few inconjuncts, but only two of them form a Yod pointing at Kris’ Pluto: Janis’ South Node/Ascendant in Aquarius on one hand; and Janis’ Mars in Sagittarius (conjunct Kris’ Part of Fortune) on the other. This was a spiritual awakening for Kris, for sure.

The Proof is in the Pudding

R.I.P. Janis. (And thank you, Kris.)

Anecdotal Evidence: Does the Moon Affect My Blood Sugars?

Or is This Because of the mRNA Vaccine?

Since becoming fully vaccinated with Pfizer, I have noticed an interesting trend in my blood sugar numbers. In fact, I wrote about it before after the first dose, but I thought that ‘event’ was a one-time blip. Well, it’s not. It happened again at the New Moon on the 10th of June, and again the night before last on the Full Moon. It lasts for about three days, at most, and makes me think ‘something’ has changed. But what, exactly?

It’s a lot to take in. But I’m not aware of anyone knowing for sure what the vaccines will do to a Type 2 diabetic. I tried Googling results, but got no information, just morbidity complications, if one is not yet vaccinated. Ooh, not good.

Help, please! Can anyone else make heads or tails about this situation?

[This post was written last night, and this morning I saw this explanation on Facebook:]

18.37 pm on 24th June there is a full moon in Capricorn at late 3 degrees. This is the culmination of the full blown high intensity solstice period where the sun climbed to its Zenith and bathed the earth in the maximum solar radiance. In balance to that the Moon reaches its most inward point in Capricorn. The full moon is the swollen moon, the most influential moon, the moon phase that magnetises most the fluids in our bodies, most notably the blood. At full moon times, we feel things through our blood, the sap of our life and we are most easily influenced. Beware which influence you fall under.

Emma Astroyogini Elizabeth

Thank you!

Wikileaks: The Truth Will Out

Julian Assange (July 3, 1971)

It doesn’t pay to be an international journalist, these days. Especially if you become the conduit of revealing secrets that the United States of America would prefer the world didn’t know.

But he’s only the lightning rod. He is being made a scapegoat to deter other ‘journalists’ (read, hackers) from daring to thumb their noses at a very corrupt and hypercritical government.

The timing of Assange’s birth chart is ‘usually’ set for 3:00 pm, based on an anecdote from his own memory (as told to him by his mother, no doubt). The birth registry states a partially smudged 2:05, 2:06 or 2:08 pm. Interesting: even his history is somewhat nebulous, which could be the result of Neptune conjunct his Ascendant in the first couple of degrees of Sagittarius. There are two inconjuncts, one of which is more significant than the other, because of the proximity of Venus to the Galactic anti-Centre in Gemini.

Mercury Inconjunct Mars

You often find it difficult to separate yourself from what you believe. You fight very hard for your ideas, even when you suspect you are wrong. You must learn that you are not your ideas, that you have them but are not them. If you do not learn this, it will be difficult even to have a friendly talk with friends, because you are always trying to make a point, defend your opinion or prove somebody else wrong. This also makes you irritable and touchy, so that others prefer not to be around you. Of course, you should not give in about something you seriously believe in, but it is unlikely that you would make that mistake.

Venus Inconjunct Jupiter

This can be a positive aspect if you learn to control some of its negative possibilities. You are likely to lake energy and to be rather passive. You may wait for opportunities to come to you, rather than go after them. You may not have enough energy to pursue your ambitions, or you may not have much ambition. Or you may love your comfort so much that you are unwilling to make any effort or put up with any pain that could help you grow and develop. However, if there are any indications of energy in your chart, they should overcome the passivity.

And Speaking of Retrogrades

I think it is significant that Justice (Jupiter) has been attempting to convict Assange on sexual charges (Venus), for years, as this is obviously his Achilles’ heel (Scorpio Moon). That this hasn’t happened is the Retrograde effect of Jupiter at birth. But it didn’t stop them trying, through Sweden, no less. Ariele Adams suggests that Jupiter Retrograde is also a signal from the Universe for wanting the individual to be a ‘truth-teller’ (slightly paraphrased from one of her videos). Julian Assange cannot help but reveal secrets, even if Neptune is conjunct his Sagittarius Ascendant. Sagittarius always shoots from the lip. Yes, the truth will out.

I rest my case…

This Man is Canada’s First Lord

Louis Hébert (1575 – January 25, 1627)

When I first read the name of Louis Hébert in connection to a proposed loan from Étienne Brûlé, I thought to myself: “Ho, here’s my friend Raymond, from the distant past…”

Because we do not know his birth date, we will have to be content to look at Louis’ ‘death’ chart, only.

As usual, I set the clock for noon, to get a sense of the day it happened. Now, as I look at the planetary positions, I recognize that some of them are reflected in my own birth chart, but this post is about Raymond, and not me, so I will skip to a combination of Louis’ death chart and Raymond’s birth chart. It should yield us some interesting connections.

Only one conjunction is ‘almost’ exact: Louis’ ‘fatal’ Saturn and Raymond’s natal Neptune @ 27° Virgo. But the other links are within one or two degrees: Louis’ ‘fatal’ Mars and Raymond’s natal Mercury in Capricorn; Louis’ ‘fatal’ Moon and Raymond’s natal North Node in Libra; Louis’ ‘fatal’ Jupiter and Raymond’s natal Mars in Scorpio; and Louis’ ‘fatal’ South Node and Raymond’s natal Moon in Aquarius. I think that’s enough ‘proof’ for our inquiring minds.

There are no accidents. Étienne and Louis were meant to meet again in the 21st Century.

Hi, Raymond: I hope your life between lives is going well.

An Astrological Prescription to Help Heal Yourself

Retrograde Planets at Birth

Honestly, having lived with these natal retrogrades my whole life, I had no inclination to even investigate what the Universe was trying to show me, since my first birth chart creation in 1977.

Not including my North and South Nodes, I have five retrograde natal planets.

Venus Retrograde in a 2nd House Aquarius

Saturn Retrograde in a 9th House Virgo

Uranus Retrograde in a 7th House Cancer

Neptune Retrograde in a 10th House Libra

Pluto Retrograde in an 8th House Leo

It never struck me before how the Retrograde symbol (above) is identical to the symbol we attribute to medical prescriptions for health and well-being. Literally, a bit of medicinal poison to heal oneself. That’s what retrograde planets do for the individual: healing our karma.

Extended Metaphor: How to Visualize the Galactic Centre

Our Galaxy’s Umbilical Cord

I was partway through Ariele Adams’ “Galactic Center Thoughts” video (part XI) on YouTube, during which she was discussing how someone (herself, in this case) might describe what the GC is like, and I got a mental flash: the GC is our Milky Way’s navel.

Now, on its own, this is nothing spectacular, but it opened up a channel of information that led me to start thinking about how the universe is still expanding, and that brought me to the realization that this ‘baby space’ may still be in its mother’s womb.

I’ve discussed previously that I’ve seen our Universe as God’s body, ever since I was a child. But I’d never connected the dots before. Planet Earth is an electron in the atom of a cell sitting on the pinkie of God’s left foot. And, when its inhabitants gaze up at the starry firmament, we are overwhelmed by the beauty, complexity and immensity of All That Is.

But why do we presume that God is a fully formed individual, looking like an Wise Old Man sitting on a Throne of Clouds (in Heaven)? Maybe God is still developing, still growing, a baby in its mother’s womb, using its consciousness to explore all aspects of its own body.

Now, that final image of 2001: A Space Odyssey finally makes sense to me…

The Man Credited with Creating Canada

Samuel de Champlain (August 13, 1567 – December 25, 1635)

Stylized portrait of Champlain

When I was young, I knew all about this man, but I was never impressed with his story. I always wondered why. But I know better now.

As this chart is totally randomized, I’m not sure if I can trust the one inconjunct, but the Cosmic Cross is impressive. That alone might explain the capricious nature of his personality. Pluto figures in his story, either way: Pluto in Pisces opposite Mercury/Saturn in Virgo; square Moon/Uranus in Sagittarius; square Mars/Neptune in Gemini. That’s a lot of changeability…

Pluto Inconjunct Midheaven

You may have trouble with older people who try to teach you how to effectively take control of your life. Even while you are young, you may resent their control over you and resist everything that are trying to teach you. To a great extent, your path in life will be shaped by your early confrontations with authority figures…You are quite capable of acting behind people’s backs if you consider it necessary or if you feel that you never get your own way.

Another problem that can arise if you are not treated properly is that you may withdraw into yourself and become very secretive, as though you have something to hide even when you don’t. This can make people distrust you.

Conclusion

Champlain monument in Orillia

It isn’t my job to repair a man’s reputation in history. This happens over time, as peoples’ minds change, especially now with Indigenous memory being reviewed by later generations.

Perhaps, like John A. Macdonald, his statues will come under scrutiny and be taken down. No one’s place in history is safe, these days. I, for one, will not be mourning the loss.
