Meet the Man the Chinese Called “Chairman”

Mao Zedong (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976)

With the recent (and unprecedented) third term of Xi Jinping, I thought it might be beneficial to look at Mao Zedong‘s life and death. Here was a man who knew how to control the largest population on earth.

The timing of Mao’s birth is rectified from the estimated two-hour period of 7 – 9 am (Dragon hour). There are two inconjuncts not dependent on an exact time.

Jupiter Inconjunct Saturn

This aspect may signify great restlessness and unease, so that it is difficult for you to achieve a state of balance or feel calm and at ease. Often you have contradictory impulses; you want to plunge ahead into some relatively risky activity, but you are held back by feelings of caution or inhabition. It is often difficult to decide whether you want to act on your own or in a situation that is very structured and regulated. If your situation is too structured, you will feel closed in and repressed; you will want to break free and go off by yourself and do things your way. But when you get that freedom, you feel rather lost and at loose ends, and you find it difficult to set your own pace.

You may have mixed feelings about authority as well. On one hand you respect and admire your parents, teachers and other adults who guide your growth, but at the same time you resist their teachings. At times you resent these people very much, because they seem to limit you so.

The best solution is to learn how to discipline yourself and structure your activities so that you do not have to contend with regulation by others. Then you will discover that your problems with authority come from within, not from the people who are trying to give you discipline and self-control from without. Perhaps the best way to handle this problem in your life is to make a reasonable evaluation of any situation, make up your mind rather quickly and stick to it until you have completed the activity.

Uranus Inconjunct Neptune (1893-1896 and 1924-1927)

This aspect indicates a generation that had mixed feelings about its ideals and how to implement them. They often felt very confused about their ideals, and when they found that their ideals failed because they were badly formulated, this group became disillusioned. States of consciousness beyond the ordinary are very confusing to them, and they prefer not to get involved with such matters.

Mao’s Death Occurred After He was Removed from Life Support

I mention this fact because the death chart does not seem to relate very well to Mao’s birth chart.

Quite impressive, right? The stellium of planets between 7° and 10° Libra may actually explain what was going on behind the scenes: a power struggle. I could delineate the Mercury/Venus/Mars/Pluto conjunction, but I think you get the picture, already. He died during a full Moon opposition to the Sun. It’s appropriate. But comparing the birth and death charts does yield as much information.

I’m not saying that there’s nothing to see, it’s just that I wasn’t ‘wowed’ by the combination. Anyway, China hasn’t been the same since he died.

Is It Just Me or Can You Hear It, Too?

Earth Rumbling

I’m sure this is nothing new, but for the past couple of nights, I been hearing this rumbling noise which sounds like the furnace is on, but isn’t that, since we’ve been having warm weather lately. I asked Susan if she could hear it, but she thinks it must just be in my head, since she doesn’t. I tried covering my ears to see if it was still there, but, due to a bit of tinnitus that I’ve had for many years, I’m not sure what I was hearing. I went outside, and honestly, I couldn’t hear it any better out there. So, is it in my head?

When I lay down on the bed to go to sleep, I’m also aware of a vibration that seems to be slightly shaking the mattress. Am I going crazy?

Garry Trudeau was Mocking Donald Trump 35 Years Ago

Yuge! (2016)

I found this little gem of a retrospective look at 30 years of Doonesbury on Trump. I never knew. Twenty of those thirty years I was living in the UK and completely oblivious to the irony of it all.

You can’t make this stuff up, so why try? Some people feel that Trump is beyond satire, but we professionals know he is satire, pure and uncut, free for all to use and enjoy, and for that we are not ungrateful. For our country, though, we can only weep.

Preface (April 14, 2016)

So, I have to ask the obvious question: why didn’t anyone pay attention?

What’s a Little Mercury Retrograde Between Friends?

Charles III Coronation (May 6, 2023)

My friend David Lowe asked if I had drawn up the chart for Charles III’s coronation. At the time, I said, no and promised to do it closer to the event. Then I went and drew it up anyway, just because I was curious, too. To be honest, there wasn’t anything there to specifically worry about, as far as I could see.

Because of a recent MSM post about a UK astrologer’s ‘concerns’ I thought I would revisit the chart and look for myself. The problems that she saw was that the announcement happened during a Mercury Retrograde and the event would take place during a Mercury Retrograde. Furthermore, she predicted trouble because the event will happen during a full Moon. Really? These aspects happen all the time and we learn to live through them with very little interruption to ‘normal’ life. But could this one event be different?

Venus Inconjunct Pluto

With this aspect you must learn a great deal about the kinds of friends you want and the kinds of experiences you will have through other people. Even while you are still young, you may meet persons who are quite difficult to get along with, but who seem to be impossible to get away from, even when you want to. You may be fascinated by such persons, or circumstances may force you to stay with them. These people do have a definite role to play in your life, but it may not always be a pleasant one. They will teach you something about life or about yourself.

This aspect may also mean that you are very possessive and demanding of your loved ones. You may not want to accept the fact that your friends can love other people besides yourself. Let your friends be themselves when they are with you, and try not to be too demanding of their time. Love for friends and relatives should be given freely, not used as a way to control them. If you do that, you will lose their love.

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose.

You may find it rather difficult to express yourself to other people. This is an expression of your lack of self-confidence, which will change if you get positive emotional support from the people around you.

(Is Prince Philip in the background somehow?)

This is Charles’ Destiny

Most people misunderstand how astrology works. It’s a cyclical image presented in the birth chart as a ‘slice of time’. When aspects meet in two charts, something significant is at work. I believe this date was chosen because it links Charles’ natal North and South Nodes with the ‘event’ ones (almost perfectly).

The other “surprise” is how the ‘event’ Ascendant is just about 1° from his natal Ascendant. Furthermore, the ‘event’ Moon is conjunct his natal Sun, and his natal Moon is halfway between the ‘event’ North Node and Jupiter. Even Charles’ Uranus is conjunct the ‘event’ Venus, which in turn is opposite his natal Jupiter (the crown). None of this should be a surprise, though. The Royals have always used astrologers to guide their ceremonial steps: see John Dee and Elizabeth I.

So, David, this event will be alright on the day, despite what the doom-and-gloomers say. Bless.

Is This Just a Space Farce?

A Grift in Space

Courtesy of Tomo on Twitter

There’s an uncomfortable truth about American space exploration: why are they wanting to conquer the galaxy when they have no real power on earth? Oh, right, they want to find new worlds for when earth becomes uninhabitable. But you and I, folks, won ‘t get a look-in, because we’re not important enough.

“I Plead the 5th”

The 5th Amendment

The American public can be forgiven if they think that this amendment is a ‘Get-out-of-Jail Free” card.

In reality, it is a protection of an individual’s right to remain silent when being interviewed about a crime. This amendment along with the 14th Amendment (having your Miranda rights read to you when being arrested) are procedures that ensure a person accused of a crime is not ‘tricked’ into expressing guilt for that crime.

Trump pleaded the Fifth more than 440 times during his deposition in New York, answering only a question about what his name is, NBC reports.

When Trump Said This, I Knew There’d Be Trouble

“Proud Boys, Stand Back and Stand By”

In the first debate between presidential candidates Trump and Biden, the moderator asked Trump to direct the white supremacist groups to “Stand down.” This is what he said instead:

This was spoken aloud on September 30, 2020.

A Priest Almost Made Americans Overthrow Their Gov’t

Charles Coughlin (October 25, 1891 – October 27, 1979)

Again, there’s nothing new under the sun. American-style fascism was rampant in the 1930’s. At the forefront of the movement was a Roman Catholic priest who was born in Canada. He was a radio presenter known as “Father Coughlin“aka the Radio Priest.

Whatever would prompt a Canadian-American Roman Catholic Monsignor to rile up his adopted countrymen to violence and extremism?

Coughlin preached increasingly about the negative influence of “money changers” and “permitting a group of private citizens to create money” at the expense of the general welfare. He spoke of the need for monetary reform based on “free silver”. Coughlin claimed that the Great Depression in the United States was a “cash famine” and proposed monetary reforms, including the nationalization of the Federal Reserve System, as the solution. Coughlin was also upset by Roosevelt’s recognition of the Soviet Union.

Wikipedia

There’s the reason. Coughlin disliked the ‘godless’ Reds so much, he was willing to embrace Hitler’s Nazis instead. So, what do we know about the man?

Initially, I randomized the timing of his birth chart, and then moved it back by almost 15 minutes. In the first instance, the Ascendant was @ 25° Pisces, in opposition to Saturn in Virgo. But I thought that was too obvious, having the Roman Catholic Church sit at 23 years of age. It’s placement now is later, after he joined the priesthood. And, surprise, surprise, Jupiter became conjunct with the new Ascendant @ almost 10° Pisces. That’s his broadcasting energy, for spreading his opinions. (During the 1930’s, Father Coughlin’s radio audience was 30 million people out of an estimated 100 million potential listeners. Wow.)

Please note that there are no inconjuncts. Therefore, what you saw was what you got: no hidden agendas.

In the end, his output was stifled, and he stopped his radio programs. (And we think we have trouble now? Trump is no Radio Priest.) The United States eventually entered WWII on the Allies side, but it could have gone the other way, and where would we be now? History is always written by the victors.

The Reason We Mustn’t Ignore the Past

Lessons from History

My last two posts here have gone over like a lead balloon (that’s where Led Zeppelin got their name). In pondering why, I have come to the conclusion that no one wants to read about events and people from more than 70 years ago. I can understand that but choosing to ignore the past can set us up to repeating the lessons learned over time.

Yesterday, Liz Truss resigned as leader of the British Conservative Party, thereby also relinquishing her role as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, after only 44 days. That’s got to be a record of some sort, doesn’t it? She tried valiantly to invoke the spirit of Margaret Thatcher by saying, “I’m a fighter, not a quitter.” However, even Thatcher was pushed out by her party in the end. Was the lesson learned? No. The Conservatives don’t really like a woman at the helm of the Ship of State, even though Elizabeth II was on the throne for 70 years. See, 70 years…

In the United States, Republican ‘buyer’s remorse’ has set in, although those vying for seats in Congress and the Senate are unwilling to admit they were wrong for turning their party into “Trump’s MAGA” party. In less than two weeks, the dust will have settled, and the world will be witness to something unexpected. Now, I’m no prophet, but the writing is on the wall for a total decimation of the GOP. And “Why?” you may well ask. The number of the Beast is 666, and Trump is the reincarnation of Nero. Evangelicals need to take note.

Amen.
