The Houses

1st

The cusp of the Ascendant, the first and most important of the four Angles of any Figure, marks the Eastern end of the Line of Particular Being. Representing Selfhood, its primary significance is Action: Destiny in the making. It defines and particularizes the native, his personal appearance, disposition and manner, moral and subjective viewpoint and motivating impulses — Personality as distinguished with individuality.

Equated with ARIES.

2nd

Repository of the native’s strongest desires, it determines the quality of the life-substance used by the Ego — that which the Life is dedicated to redeem; financial standing, money, movable property and possessions; earning and spending capacities, personal debts; the manner in which he meets his obligations.

Equated with TAURUS.

3rd

The synthesizing powers of the mind and its ability to form sense impressions and mold destiny within one’s social environment; dexterity, cleverness, duality, restlessness; the rational mind and its adaptability to education; short journeys.

Equated with GEMINI

4th

Its cusp, the Northern end of the meridian that paces through the birthplace, is the degree of Integration. It is the drain through which everything that is to be sloughed off, merges and passes away. It is an index to the home and all domestic affairs.

Equated with CANCER

5th

The conception of offspring; hence the exteriorization of self through all manner of creative and procreative urges and activities; recreational and other pleasurable impulses of mind and heart.

Equated with LEO.

6th

Food, clothing, comforts and domestic pets; mental and physical conflicts resulting from the externalization of the ego…out of which, mental, nervous or organic disease may develop. It has been termed the House of Service in that it portrays one’s capacity to serve.

Equated with VIRGO.

7th

The cusp of the Descendant, the Angle of Relationship, at the Western end of the line of Particular Being, depicts the subjective side of the Nature, the Individuality, as opposed to the Personality that is revealed objectively in the First House. Since it defines the native’s reaction to law, it becomes the House of the Public, show the relation of the native to others; particularly his open adversaries; lawsuits and contracts, including marriage.

Equated with LIBRA.

8th

Release from personal limitations through human interchange; the realm of Birth and Rebirth; of evolution through the suffering incident to all human experience; regeneration through enlargement of viewpoint, both spiritual and mental; and the subjugation of the personal Self — a difficult process since so few realize the horror of its impact upon the mind and consciousness; wills, legacies, trust funds, insurance.

Equated with SCORPIO.

9th

The realm of the abstract mind, of intuition and inspiration of dreams and visions, hence an index to one’s reactions to philosophy, success and religion; the probability of distant travel, timing, nature and results; world-wide contacts and mental adjustment to racial ideas, ideals and collective needs.

Equated with SAGITTARIUS.

10th

From this arc one traces the native’s business or professional life and affairs, his honor, preferment, fame, credit, reputation, career and position in society; hence his standing in the world. Of the four angles it is second in importance, the Southern end of the meridian running through the birthplace: the Midheaven.

Equated with CAPRICORN.

11th

One finds here the externalization of the native’s social position, the nature and characteristics of his circle of acquaintances and friends; his ideals with respect to human and therefore social relationships: his hopes, wishes, projects and ambitions.

Equated with AQUARIUS.

12th

This is the arena wherein transpires the combat against the inertia inherent in all forms of society. Here are expressed the innermost and secret emotions; the source and nature of hidden and underhanded opposition; imprisonment, hospitalization.

Equated with PISCES.

Taurus – The Bull

Taurus

Courtesy of Wikipedia

The second sign of the zodiac

Its symbol represents the head and horns of a bull. The sacred Apis was presumed to be the incarnation of the god Osiris — hence a symbol of a sepulchre or tomb. The Sun’s entry into Taurus was celebrated as a Feast of Maya (Maia) — our May Day — the Sun represented by a white bull with a golden disc between his horns, followed by a procession of virgins, exemplifying the fecundity of Nature in Spring.

The Sun is in Taurus annually from April 21 to May 20. Astrologically and astronomically it is in the second thirty-degree arc from the Spring Equinox, from 30° to 60° along the Ecliptic.

It is the Fixed quality of the Earth element, conferring external will power that, ordinarily passive and negative, becomes obstinate and unbending when aroused. Negative, nocturnal, cold, dry and melancholy.

Ruler: Venus.

Exaltation: Moon.

Detriment: Mars.

Fall: Uranus.

When a Character is Killed Off…

designated-survivor

Designated Survivor

I suspect the hint is in the show’s title. We have been watching this one since its beginning and have enjoyed the parallels to (and divergent differences with) Trump’s presidency. But behind it all are love stories being played out. Let’s focus on one:

Damian Rennett and Hannah Wells

Australians in Film Gala, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 19 Oct 2016

Here is a spy story of double and triple crosses amid an obvious passion of two operatives for each other. When Hannah decided to shoot Damian on that bridge, he fell into the river below, so she thought he was dead. Only he wasn’t.

Last night, he was gunned down in the street trying to protect Hannah from the bullets of a drive-by shooting. The last scene in the show, we see is Hannah being told something by the doctor at the hospital, but we are not told what. Yet another cliffhanger: same time, next week, eh?

I was immediately suspicious. (That is probably from watching the new television show “Deception”. It’s just too easy to fool us with fake bullets, blood packs and teary eyes.) I think the short discussion between Damian and his Russian ‘handler’ made me wary. He kept saying that he was working for US Intelligence now, and she warned him that they (the Americans) might try to make him disappear after he is no longer of service to them. Then she said, “Russia wants you back; you know a lot about the Americans.”

But the more important point is that their love story was spoiled from the very beginning when he couldn’t be honest about which side he was on.

Killing him off may be the producers only way of resolving the conflict. Then Hannah can love him, in absentia, without betraying her country.

Only time will tell.

Revelation: Cosmic Timeline?

161c358872b3f3d0f41bc6b149a41bda

Scripture as Guideline

There are several books of the Bible which are focused on future events: in the Old Testament, they are Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah and Daniel; in the New Testament, Revelation. Together they tell a story about what will happen to the State of Israel when the future unfolds. By the same token, the world will find out its fate at the same time.

What’s Next?

23sept2017-fulfilment_of_revelation_12_1_to_3a

Last September there was a prophecy doing the rounds on social media which predicted that Planet X would happen shortly. The basis of that prediction was Revelation (see above). When it didn’t happen, the prediction was postponed twice, and it still didn’t happen. Now, the same prediction is coming around again for the end of this month. What makes it interesting is that a rather large asteroid passed ‘close’ to Earth last weekend, without crashing into us.

Prophecy is such a nebulous business. Timing is everything, and human error makes it seem improbable to the greater public.

Conclusion

revelation-21-4When I was a young child, I cried a lot. If I wasn’t being bullied, I was afraid of the dark. If I wasn’t letting myself down somehow, I was scared of disappointing my parents. In others words, I had a ‘normal’ upbringing.

At age 9, I heard this quotation for the first time. My heart soared. I then knew that no matter how hard life could be, in the end everything would be alright.

It has been my promise from God. It will last forever.

Amen.

Revelation: Some Beastly Speculation

666

Number of the Beast

There is probably no other sequence of numbers in the whole (Christian) world that is more recognized than these three digits.

There are several ways to look at the numbers, but to do them proper justice I would suggest you read the whole section in Wikipedia devoted to 666.

(The fact that some manuscripts have 616 [χιϛ] instead begs the question: have we been mistaken this whole time? Even the Greek [in square brackets] lettering looks like a backwards SIX. In spiritual terms, 6 is the number of mankind, not yet divine enough to be a 7, certainly not an ascended master like Christ as an 8.)

Modern Beasts

666-hidden-corprate-logos-secret_www_hebrew

This rendition of the World Wide Web initials as three Hebrew ‘vav’s makes a mockery of all other attempts to uncover a secret system of assistance given to the Antichrist. But it does give one pause for thought.

In 1978, I left the Bank of Nova Scotia, and in my resignation letter I suggested that the Bank was part of Satan’s kingdom because its ‘cold start’ computer code every morning was 666. (No doubt the Bank management thought I was crazy.)

And it would be true to say that anyone wanting to ‘discover’ the truth will see what they want to see, anyway.

Even the writer(s) of the Wikipedia article noted that the mark of the Beast needn’t be in or on your physical being, but in your possession, like the microchip in your credit and debit cards. Soon you won’t be able to use cash to buy anything, as counterfeiting has undermined confidence in its trustworthiness. Once that happens, your access to goods and services could be cut off on the whim of those in control of the banking systems.

Facebookistan

I saw an interesting program on TVO last night about Facebook. In it former CNN bureau chief, Rebecca MacKinnon said something interesting about Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg. In an interview with the New Scientist, she was asked:

You have referred to Mark Zuckerberg as the Sultan of Facebookistan. What did you mean?
Sovereignty and power are shifting. Before the internet, these notions were controlled by nation states. But companies like Facebook are the sovereigns of cyberspace. Facebook exercises power by shaping the way you interact with the world. It makes decisions about what you can do and not do on its network. And there are only a few countries in the world where Facebook is not the most popular social network.

More food for thought, eh?

Conclusion

Hal Lindsey, in his book “Satan is Alive and Well on Planet Earth”, wrote something that surprised me (and only because it seemed more Gnostic than Evangelical in nature):

“There are phenomena beyond the realm of the senses. They are beginning to be accepted in scientific circles, and we may scoff or laugh at our own peril. They are not related to the true God, but to the one whom Jesus Christ called ‘the god of this world.’”

Wow. now that’s a Revelation!

Revelation: A Divine Document?

symbolic-revelation

Proof: The Number Seven

I think by now, readers of my posts have seen that seven is considered a sacred number.

Well, Revelation is full of examples of that number in relationship with the symbolic language used by St John the Divine. Check out this table:

Sevens

The Planets as Rulers

In the ancient world, the planets were only seven in number. One example of interpretation is that these planets are actually the Seven Kings:

revelation-part-two-5-638

Conclusion

We wonder how Revelation got included in the New Testament. It’s a strange book and the story it tells is disturbing. But if it comes from a divine level of consciousness, it is probably the most important of the whole Bible.

In my opinion, the sevens prove it is divinely inspired. That’s really all we need to know.

Revelation: Seven Churches Equal 7 Eras?

7-Letters-title-1000x563

Letters to the Seven Churches

Years ago, I read that each of the seven churches of Asia Minor represented an era of the Christian Church. In other words, Jesus’s message to them, through St John the Divine, was meant to be a warning ahead of time for Christians for the next two thousand years.

This definitely means that the phrase ‘this generation will not pass’ is not just twenty years long (as is mostly by what the word implies) but 100 times that length of time.

The Messages

seven churches

It would be fair to say that the falling away from churchgoing in the present day proves that the Christian Church is considered irrelevant by most (so-called) Christians.

Here’s what the message is for us:

14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

(Revelation 3 NIV)

As my Grade 13 English teacher, Archie Ross used to say: “A word to the wise is sufficient.”

Conclusion

1-the-light-of-the-world-william-holman-hunt

It’s time to let the Light of the World back into your life.

Revelation: Nightmare or Vision?

stained-glass-rose-window-in-notre-dame-cathedral-paris-france-1494433394

Stained glass Rose window in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris

Out-of-Body Experience (OBE)

9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11 which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” (Revelation 1)

I can imagine what it was like: you’re in a meditative state and you get visited by a spiritual being who tells you to write down everything you see and then share it with others of your faith. Not a lot different from having a CE3, in my opinion.

But is that all it was?

Near Death Experience (NDE)

In the Wikipedia explanation of an NDE, there was one statement which made me sit up and take notice:

“Connection to the cultural beliefs held by the individual, which seem to dictate some of the phenomena experienced in the NDE and particularly the later interpretation thereof.”

Now that’s something I can agree with.

First of all, St John the Divine may have induced this experience by fasting (forty days and forty nights), so that he wasn’t just meditating, he may have been close to death, brought on by the process of fasting for so long.

That makes the use of symbolism in his nightmarish vision understandable.

Ezekiel Got There First

In the Book of Ezekiel, we are presented with a similar vision. But the kicker is the way Ezekiel starts his discussion about the Chariot:

I was watching a big storm come in from the north. It was a big cloud with a strong wind, and there was fire flashing from it. Light was shining out all around it. It looked like hot metal glowing in a fire.
(Ezekiel 1:4)

If you want to read how a 6th century BC prophet describes a UFO, may I suggest that you pick up your Bible and read chapter 1 of the Book of Ezekiel?

Warning, Warning, Will Robinson!

Why would someone or something from the future wish to go back in time to warn a group of believers about what will happen someday?

Isn’t it obvious?

Think about the events being foretold in Revelation. There is going to be ‘trouble at mill‘ and to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

It has been suggested that St John’s vision took place in 70 AD. That’s when the Temple at Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans. The worst that could happen to the Jews has already happened. So, the only way left to them was up.

But going to Heaven wasn’t the goal here. It was bringing down to Earth the Kingdom of Heaven in the form of the “New” Jerusalem.

Conclusion

Hal Lindsey in his book “The Late Great Planet Earth” suggests that the re-creation of the State of Israel is the staring point for the countdown to Armageddon. He times events with a seven base. Well, what if he didn’t see the missing zero following the seven? Seventy years from the re-creation of the State of Israel is right now!

Who is King Arthur, Really?

The Once and Future King

Courtesy of amazon.uk

The Once and Future King

When T H White captured this legend in print form, the story of King Arthur had been around in written form for nine hundred years. And the oral history may have gone back another six hundred years or so before that. But did he really exist?

Every country likes to have a national hero. It makes the people feel special, and proud of their heritage. And warrior kings have an extra special place in their heart. (Now, where have I heard of that before?)

King David

Here was a warrior king who had it all. He was a poet, a shepherd, a warrior, a lover and a king.

(Gosh, that just reminded me of Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life”:

I’ve been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate
A poet, a pawn and a king
I’ve been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing)

When we have a hero, we want him to be ‘just like us’ only better, somehow.

But David was flawed, just like Arthur was flawed.

Jesus Christ

For a very long two thousand years, Jesus was considered to have been just a legend, too. Then hidden papyrus was found buried in caves in the desert in the Middle East in the middle of the 20th century. That changed everything. The Dead Sea Scrolls speak of a Teacher of Righteousness. No one knows who this individual was, but the people to whom this person belonged were the Essenes.

When Jesus appeared in Israel in the 1st century, the longed-for Messiah was deemed to have come to rescue his nation from bondage (like Moses in Egypt). But Jesus’ mission wasn’t as ‘simple’ as that. There’s a good chance that he had to undo the damage done by David before his time.

He had to take on the mantle of the Warrior King, but in a peaceful way. One might even say a ‘pacifist’ way. Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr both emulated Jesus’ passive resistance to wake up their nations to the idea of being free from oppression.

Has it worked? Partly.

But Jesus also had to be a Priest. Now, that’s where the story gets complicated, and probably took on Egyptian (read, pagan) elements. Hence, the need for Mary Magdalene to be a High Priestess. As I said, it’s complicated.

Conclusion

I don’t need, or want, to rehash the parallels that exist between Jesus Christ and King Arthur. Others have done a marvelous job of that.

What I want to highlight is the concept of Gnosis. Throughout my posts are hidden gems of knowledge that are meant to spur your search for the Truth. The idea that information can be sitting right under your collective noses without many of you having any conscious awareness makes my work so difficult at times.

It’s like telling you a fairy tale or a bedtime story…

Experience: Negative to Positive

Woodburning Cookstove

“Wood-burning Cook Stove” image courtesy of WordPress

“Don’t touch! It’s hot!”

As a species, we are wired to disobey. It must have been built into our DNA to be negatively suggestible. From the minute we are told not to do something, that’s all we want to do.

Once upon a time, every home had a black monster (see above) sitting in its kitchen. One of the first things we were told as children was to stay away from it. “Why?” we would ask. Because it could hurt us, we were told. “What’s ‘hurt’?” we would then ask. “You’ll see…”

We never take the word of anyone else to be valid until we prove it to ourselves. That’s how we learn what’s good for us and what’s not.

The Ten Commandments

Have you ever really considered why God gave Moses the tablets of stone on Mt. Sinai? Was it to warn the Israelists about ‘nasty’ stuff? Or did the Godhead know that by prohibiting certain behaviour, the Israelists would do exactly what they were told not to do and then learn valuable lessons?

Wisdom comes from experience. Innocence means that you’ve never tried anything, and therefore have no awareness of consequences to your actions. God isn’t looking for blind faith, He/She/It is looking for mature partners in the material world. Then an intimate relationship becomes possible.

Nowhere to Now Here

In the Fleetwood Mac album Time, there is a Peter Green inspired song called “These Strange Times”. Here are the lyrics:

These strange times I think of a friend
They said was a man of the world
When all the time he was in a fight
Between the dark and the light
Yes I too, my friend, find the Devil
Trying to make me do things I don’t want to do
Now I find myself crying out
God is nowhere, God is nowhere
These strange times I look in my heart
And see the dark not the light
And how I’m sad and wished I was in love
And look to the sky and cry out
God is nowhere, God is nowhere
And this is Hell
Being caught between the dark and the light
Daddy, daddy, hold on
God is now here, God is now here
These strange times I too have dreams
Things that make me wonder
If to walk a thin line is like dying alone
And I’m trying to find my way home
To where God is now, here and the dark is now light
Yes…

What a great way to end the song!
