Francis: The Last Pope?

Scandal in the Making

If the present Roman Catholic sexual abuse allegations against priests in the United States and coverup by the Bishops and Archbishops have a specific purpose, it will be to undermine and probably topple Pope Francis I.

Since his election to the post in 2013, he has upset the traditional factions within the Roman Catholic Church.

He has ‘allowed’ homosexuals to receive the sacrament of Eucharist. He is trying to accommodate a ‘grass roots’ change of Catholic beliefs, and is viewed by the faithful as a humble man.

Everything points to an all-out internal conflict.

Francis’ List

St. Malachy’s Prophecy

Would it surprise you to learn that there is a conspiracy theory that suggests that Francis will be the final Pontiff? It seems that so many people are hoping for the End of Times, especially in the United States.

But is it true, or is this just wishful thinking?

‘The prophecies of the Irish Saint Malachy, the 12th-century bishop of Armagh, have thrilled and dismayed readers for centuries. He has stated there would be only one more pope after Benedict, and during his reign comes the end of the world. So Francis could be the last.

‘The prediction in full is: “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”

‘The father of the current pope was Peter, or Pietro, and was from Italy even though the family moved to Argentina.

‘In 1139, then Archbishop Malachy went to Rome from Ireland to give an account of his affairs. While there he received a strange vision about the future that included the name of every pope, 112 in all from his time, who would rule until the end of time. We are now at the last prophecy.’ (From Irish Central)

Conclusion

It is obvious that both the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy and Pope Francis cannot succeed: either Francis will be forced to resign, or the Church will have to change forever. Is this the end? Wait and see.

Charlemagne: Europe’s King Arthur?

Charles-the-Great-king-of-Franks-by-Jean-Louis-Ernest-Meissonier-1840

The Last Time France and Germany were United

The European Union (created by the Treaty of Rome in 1957) is not a new concept. Charlemagne got there first. But he achieved the union through timely alliances, actual battles, and some very astute thinking. (And he had a little help from the Pope of his day.) In bringing about this unity in Europe, he heralded in a prosperous and educated time, during the so-called “Dark Ages”. His shining enlightenment has not been dimmed by the passage of time, nor by the conflicts since his death.

For example, did you know that the English currency of pounds, shillings and pence was his creation? Surprising, that.

He had Twelve Knights

In one of my past lives, I may have been Roland. This means that I had the pleasure of serving Charlemagne. It may also be why my Midheaven is situated @ 13° Libra, which represents the crowning of Charles I of the Franks in 768 AD. My past life ‘job’ started then. I would have been one of his 12 paladins.

The Twelve regions of his Kingdom are shown above.

The ‘Once and Future King’

This title could easily be given to Charlemagne. His Frankish Kingdom has been recently resurrected (as the EU) and continues to be an influence in world affairs. He would have been so proud.

Trump and the Law

laworder

American Values and Traditions

I read an interesting article today about why Trump supporters believe he is not corrupt.

I suggest that you click on the above link and read it, too, before I continue my post.

Done? Good, then I’ll begin.

It’s a sobering thought that the Americans who voted for Trump have more regard for traditional American values than they do for the law. All this talk and legal maneuvering to paint Trump into corner, from which his only escape will be to resign, like Nixon, in disgrace, is having absolutely no effect on his voters.

What’s he done wrong? It’s just a ‘witch hunt’, after all.

Sex with other women? All powerful men do that.

Paying hush money? Sure, we have to protect good men.

Here’s What Trump Stands For

201610051604410066

Trump’s promise, to make America Great Again, was just code for making Americans feel safe again. And it seems to be working for almost one half of the population, Republicans.

After Obama, the ‘silent [white] majority’ feared that ‘blacks’, ‘feminists’ and ‘immigrants’ were going to take over their precious land, forgetting, of course, that Native Americans suffered the same fate previously — but who thinks about them?

To Republicans, Democrats are just too easy on outsiders. That same thinking exists in other Western societies. In Canada, for example, the Liberals say that Canada is open to immigrants, and the Conservatives want to close the borders completely, no matter how crass that sounds. It’s the same in Europe.

Conclusion

eN3az1XqyJY

Trump thinks the stock markets will crash if he’s impeached. Bravado, for sure, but nothing sobers up the voters quicker than a threat to their money.

Nothing will happen before the mid-term elections this fall. Then, depending on how the American people cast their votes, the overall winners will decide their next moves. Republican control of the House of Representatives will quash any such talk. Democrat control will embolden the ones who want Trump out of the Oval Office.

But, just one sobering thought remains…

Question: What’s the Dark Web?

Dark-web-article-image

Answer: If you don’t know, don’t ask!

Week after week, I hear the term ‘dark web‘ on the TV show Elementary. According to Sherlock Holmes, he goes to the dark web whenever he wants to buy some information or merchandise which he wants to keep secret from the authorities.

Imagine my surprise to discover that the dark web is actually a military application to keep their operations under wraps. They allowed the public access to it to further disguise their traffic, and [surprise, surprise] the criminal element of society became the next biggest group of users, after the military.

To ‘see’ how it works, take a look at this image:

Types-of-Web

The image at the top of this post is the famous Anonymous mask (styled after Guy Fawkes of the Gunpowder Plot). It is a little unclear, due to the low resolution. But what if you could see it more clearly?

Can you now see that the image is made up of all of us?

End of this lesson.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

large_crazy-rich-asians

Crazy Rich Asians

Who would have thought that a film about Chinese family values would prove to be such a lovely film?

There are many themes running through its two hour length, so it can get a bit confusing at times, especially when we Westerners have difficulty seeing the differences in their looks. Fortunately, the characters were played ‘large’ on the silver screen, so after a while one begins to recognize who each person is and how they fit in the story.

To make it easier for the viewer, Harper’s Bazaar, Singapore created a primer of the main characters. You can read it by clicking here.

Ostentation Overload

I guess the idea of this movie (and the original books) was to show the Americans a thing or two about conspicuous spending. The visual effect is one of being overwhelmed by it all. A similar, but less ostentatious, display occurred during the wedding feast in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, based in India. It’s an eye-opener that wealth can exist in the midst of poverty.

The reason for Nick and Rachel’s visit to Singapore is also to attend a wedding, and the hi-jinx surrounding it are ridiculous in the extreme. The subtext is that the Rachel’s American “nouveau pauvre” is no match for Nick’s Singapore ‘old money’. And the contrast of American and British accents demonstrates the New World vs. Old Order differences.

Stereotypical Humour

Admittedly, there is plenty to laugh about. Every Chinese stereotype is lampooned by the story. My favourite is the character played by Awkwafina: Peik Lin is Rachel’s school friend from Stanford days, and her role is one of a fairy godmother to Rachel. She made me laugh every time she was on screen.

The other women around Nick’s age are like Kardashian wannabes. The men are all hunks and playboys. Only Nick comes across as genuine and truly in love with Rachel.

Astrid

Nick’s sister seems to be the only one who understands that money can’t buy you happiness. But that is because she has all the money she needs and yet it drives a wedge between herself and her husband. Her role is the only sad one in the whole movie, so partway through the closing credits, the producers allowed a short vignette to resolve her story.

Family

This is the main point of the story, and it would seem that, although family is all important, love has been in short supply.

Rachel’s mother is the best. Nick’s is the worst. I won’t divulge the actual plot elements, but I will reference the showdown in the Mahjong parlour.

Rachel is a professor at NYU. She teaches Economics, but also demonstrates to her students how games are played, won and lost. In the aftermath of Nick asking her to marry him, Rachel invites Nick’s mother to the Mahjong parlour to play one round.

mahjong-tiles-bamboos

The second last bamboo tile (the ‘WM’ one) represents the number 8. To the Chinese, 8 is a very lucky number. Several times during the game, Rachel held the tile in her hand, changed her mind, then picked it up again. All the while, she is explaining to Nick’s mother that she had turned Nick’s offer of marriage down, and why. Then she puts the tile down in the discard area, and Nick’s mother picks it up, puts it in her spread and then reveals what she thinks is her winning hand.

Meanwhile, Rachel continues her explanation, and after she says her final words, reveals her winning hand. She had defeated Nick’s mother. She then gets up, finds her own mother on the way out and they leave arm-in-arm. It was excellent gamesmanship.

Conclusion

This film was based on the first of three book. That means there will be two more films to come. The dangling plot lines will then be picked up and a continuation of the story will occur.

I can see one such plot line: Rachel taking a DNA test in order to find her ‘unknown’ father.

Another plot line: Nick will have to decide once and for all if he is going to reject his family’s wealth so that he and Rachel can live happily ever after in New York City.

And one final line: Will Astrid find true happiness?

We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?

The Naked Heart

The Naked Heart

The Sight of the Planets in Man

From the outside I look at man, in his present form and posture; as I see the whole of his reality, all radiance and expression, characteristics and mannerisms; so I see the Sun that shines.

Stepping a little closer, I may communicate with this man, forming solid pictures in the mind, exposed in concrete words; all that has distinction and matter in its form come of hardened Mercury, to represent the Spirit.

Now I touch this man and feel the beauty of his being: touching no particular part, I embrace the whole; sensuality comes with Venus, feeling on the outside, exposing from within.

Next, I step inside: I have become this man, wondering the mind, floating on the clouds of his creation; this place is Earth, where the air of life is breathed and all further evolution lies hidden deep within.

Now I am within:  I journey towards the heart, uncovering potential; the first, that I confront, is this man’s ability to project, bringing forth the Spirit of his life; Mars may seem forceful, but it shows we are alive.

Deeper still lies knowledge: this projection needs direction, for it has purpose to fulfil; Jupiter lays the channels through which the spirit flows; man shall bring to life, and carry forward evolution.

Now I see the master whose Spirit is exposed: he has all knowledge of creation, in which he brings his being; Saturn builds a castle, that time may soon dispose, but if the master serves creation, he lives in no one place.

Closer to the heart, I see the greatest of potential for man to know and evolve beyond this peaceful Earth; Uranus is the opening space, to join man with all creation, a window through which may shine the Great Spirit’s beauty.

As I delve deeper, so the window is completely opened; the higher love flows through, embracing every form of life; Neptune brings a sea of wonder and ideals that man is now to swim, returning with pure Spirit, to scatter golden seeds upon the Earth.

Finally, I reach the heart, where God exists within; life is here eternal, as the Spirit finds fulfilment in the Christ; Pluto gives the wisdom of all that is the universe, the deepest point of man, the essence of the Spirit.

The Faithful Prayer

The principle of Satan is now exposed, without fear or superstition: its time is at an end.

The Spirit of these words will shine from this day forwards: in the face of condemnation, it will remain unmoved; this light will only come to rest when all desire is past, and the Earth is once more the heavenly Paradise.

To all who would know me,

I am here to give,

not the words I write,

just the life I live;

so it is with all life.

I shall hide the Spirit from no fear; lock no doors, nor bar the windows; the eyes shall never be closed, the ears shall never be covered; for in everything that is, there is reason; the root of all reason being that most pure truth, that which we named God, yet still did not know.

Our reasons today may be hidden, deep within the mind, even unto ourselves; so many are misdirected; but there shall come a time when reason is clear to all to see; this is the time promised, when peace shall reign for evermore…

Now is our time to take those first steps towards freedom.

Call for the Priest!

39751046_2787671728123654_6836707149108740096_n

An Evil Spirit Needs Exorcism

I saw this image on Facebook and couldn’t resist ‘borrowing’ it. The blending of that iconic scene in The Exorcist and a night-time shot of the White House is too clever to ignore. I don’t know who created it, but they’re a genius.

A Chess Match

Trump_Chess_JPG-Copy-Copy

With yesterday’s guilty plea by Michael Cohen, and eight guilty verdicts for Paul Manafort, Donald Trump is slowly losing his chess pieces to Mueller’s Special Investigation. According to the CBC, that makes five men convicted so far.

Trump is running out of moves. But is he willing to concede defeat? No.

Witch Hunt

DHV4bs2UIAAtnNY

By constantly declaring that the Mueller Investigation is nothing but a ‘witch hunt’, Trump is denigrating every move that is made against him. But the clues are starting to add up, and it seems that at the heart of this government is a ‘very naughty boy’.

In some ways, I think Mueller is waiting for Trump to hit back at his investigation with a indictable offence, and then he’ll set the Impeachment ball rolling.

Conclusion

trump_og_image

I’m not suggesting that Trump is an ‘evil genius’: that would be a slur to all the villains in the world; no, he’s just a guy who thinks he’s smarter than everybody else. (Austin Powers could have sorted him out.)

Unfortunately, the conservative voters in the United States decided he was the ‘real deal’, and now they are doubling down on their Presidential choice. This is setting up for the worst crisis in American history, and no one wants to ruin the country.

Robert Mueller’s job is to discover the truth, and to root out the corruption at the heart of their government. Let’s hope the Constitution survives the exorcism.

Sheer Hypocrisy: Racism

scheer-trudeau-1

Trying to Score Political Points

A recent spat of words has demonstrated that, when it comes to politics, nothing is sacred. Andrew Scheer has called out Justin Trudeau for calling a female protester at one of his speeches a ‘racist‘. This is rich, considering that he said very little about Maxime Bernier’s outburst about diversity.

Our 2019 General Election is a year away, but it feels like the election campaign has started already.

The Man who would be Prime Minister

andrew-scheer

Andrew Scheer has been called “Harper with a smile”: that should be warning enough. His youth and his dimples belie a “Blue Tory” attitude. If his party became the Government, he would be tougher than ever as the youngest Prime Minister since Joe Clark. In the meantime, he is looking for any political advantage in the run-up to the election.

Undoing the “Damage”

Scheer went to London to meet with Prime Minister May, on the pretext of cementing a potential Canada-UK trade deal. It was an excuse to become better known: the Canada-UK trade negotiations were already underway.

Next, Scheer wants to go to India to fix relations with that country after Trudeau’s fiasco visit there. Again, what’s the point of the exercise? To be seen to be Prime Ministerial?

Hot Topic: Immigration

Those on the Right side of the political spectrum have always wanted to conserve the status quo. It’s only natural. Their mindset is that there’s not enough to go around. They do not understand why we must share anything with the world and his uncle.

Immigration on its own isn’t the issue: illegal immigration is what’s bothering folks. And the politics south of the border is what’s driving the numbers up. The questions that Trudeau’s heckler was shouting at him obviously hit a tender spot in his normal unflappable exterior. The media are now questioning if people (read, CSIS) around Trudeau already knew who she was and the fact that she is a known protestor and ‘agent provocateur’.

If anything, honest debate is always welcome, but a slanging match derailing a leader’s political speech is not. I’m surprised Trudeau took the bait, but maybe Bernier’s tweets were on his mind.

Conclusion

In Doctor Zhivago one of the characters discussed the usefulness of having a clearly defined minority to focus a country’s attention on. And the smaller the group, the better. In the story, they were in fact discussing the Jewish people in Russia, after the Great War. Hitler took the same maneuver out of that playbook in the 1930’s when he took power in Germany. Look where that led.

Muslims are now the world’s whipping boys. ISIS has seen to that. And the political leaders of all stripes, but mostly the Alt Right, have sent out the call to unite against this alien horde. (History repeats itself, until the lessons are learned.)

Must I say it yet again? We are ALL in this together. And none of us are getting out alive, until we recognize ourselves in our neighbours. They, too, are human beings.
