History Repeats Itself

thX4J7TTA2Until the Lessons are Learned

Yesterday, President Trump likened the Mueller Special Investigation into the Russian meddling in the 2016 Election to the Army-McCarthy hearings of the early 1950’s.

On the CBC, when it reported this on The National, the following image (in its entirety) was shown in the background:

sen-joseph-mccarthy-at-mccarthy-hearings-1954-c13f52 (2)

What astounded me was the chart legend has my birth date on it…

That means this ‘witch hunt’ is more than 68 years old.

Soviet Union

Soviet_Union_USSR_Grunge_Flag_by_think0

I’m reading Doctor Zhivago at the moment, and the first third of the book is taken up with his life and times leading up to the Russian Revolution. That happened more than 100 years ago in 1917.

The reasons for a revolution are never easy to explain, since so much of it is down to the mood of a nation.

But the important point I’d like to make is that the revolution came from within Russia, not from the common enemy, Germany.

In order to equalize an inequality, Communism was finally adopted by Russia as its governing principle. Then it decided to liberate other countries by sharing its ideas and ideals. Before long, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was born.

The (Unholy) Alliance

Teheran_conference-1943

When Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler started to expand into neighbouring countries (to ‘reclaim’ former territory), Russia became allies with Britain in the new World War.

This was never going to be an easy alliance, mainly because Russians have a wary nature of other peoples’ intentions. And Winston Churchill had named their attitude as an “Iron Curtain”, a name which stuck. Besides, the British must have been very aware of what Joseph Stalin was doing to his own people. But politics (and war) make for some very strange bedfellows, and these two leaders had to work together to divide and conquer Hitler’s war machine in order to defeat him.

When the USA entered the war, Franklin D Roosevelt became the moderator between Churchill and Stalin (who were never pictured next to each other in any of their conference photographs).

The Cold War (1945-1991)

ColdWar

The McCarthy Era came near the beginning of the Cold War, fought mainly between the USA and the USSR. Each distrusted the other. Each spied on the other, and lots of people got caught in the crossfire.

Here’s a map showing the spheres of influence that each had.

cold-war-map

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) became the de facto arm of the American way of fighting Communism.

In the middle of this 46 year period, came the Cuban Missile Crisis, when John F Kennedy stared down Nikita Khrushchev and got the Soviets to withdraw their weapons.

And all the while, there was a threat of nuclear weapons. Then in the late 1980’s, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev began a detente which effectively reduced the world’s nuclear holdings.

The Wall Came Down

GTY_berlin_wall_jef_141105_16x9_992

Towards the end of the Cold War, a symbol of the Iron Curtain came down when the Berlin Wall was dismantled. Within two years the USSR had collapsed and Soviet Russia became the Russian Federation, under Boris Yeltsin.

Even John le Carré had to change his spy books to reflect the end of the Cold War. Within a very short period of time, Islamic extremism became the ‘new’ enemy.

But the seeds that had been sown all those years ago have not really withered and died. In fact, its tendrils have transferred into cyberspace. All new computer techniques of spy craft and dirty tricks have become the tools of most countries, with the USA and Russia leading the way.

Conclusion

RussiaElection-TA

In my dream last night, my company’s security system was compromised by hacking. When I investigated, I discovered that the computer equipment was Russian and the hacking had been done by Russian operatives pretending to be computer programmers. Everything was infiltrated. There wasn’t anything that didn’t have their codes imbedded.

It’s a hint, isn’t it? The Mueller Investigation was looking for Russian hacking, and it’s been discovered. What’s becoming obvious is that the Russians have done far worse damage than the American people have a clue about. And the head of their precious country is the top of the pyramid, the tip of the iceberg.

Russia wants to defeat the Americans once and for all time. Putin is the man to do it.

In Canada, We Agree to Disagree

diversity

We Like to be Different

Because Canada and the United States have the longest unprotected border (stretching 4,000 miles from sea-to-shining-sea), Canadians feel they must protect their ‘identity’ by providing an alternative to the American way of life. We feel it’s the only way that the rest of the world will see that we’re not just ‘north’ Americans.

White Bread Mentality

When I was a child, our family ate good, wholesome brown bread. At the time, I equated that with poverty, for some reason, probably because Mom baked the bread herself. All our neighbours had white bread. And in those black and white TV days, the family shows had everyone eating white bread. I thought I was missing out.

Now I understand that this ‘need’ for white bread was mostly driven by advertising. Wonder bread, anyone?

Advertising Leads Our Choices

I’m not sure if the changes in advertising came about because of Trump, but my gut says this might be true. Normally, we would expect to see the white ‘nuclear’ family sitting down to dinner, or enjoying some outdoor activities, or buying a car. But recently, there has been a groundswell of change: we are seeing all sorts of diversity being portrayed on the television, both in Canada and the United States.

There are mixed marriages, not just black and white, but oriental and occidental, children from those unions (adopted and natural), same sex relationships, and hardly any classic white bread.

It turns out that natural wheat is not bleached, nutrition is contained in whole wheat and the more seeds and grains that are added the better. It’s like the hippies have finally infiltrated the ad agencies. (Haven’t you noticed that the music seems to be of a different era?)

Advertising is showing us on a daily basis that it’s okay to be different.

Conclusion

Maxime Bernier got everyone a-twitter here in Canada this week when he posted some thoughts about diversity. It has opened a dialogue about what is really going on in the homes of Canadians.

Are we getting tired of diversity and multiculturalism?

Are we afraid of losing our national identity?

What national identity?

The only thing that we as a country have ever striven for is to be seen as NOT American. That doesn’t qualify as a national identity.

index

Ken McGoogan, in his book Celtic Lightning demonstrates quite clearly that Canada as a nation was created by the Scots and the Irish. The French were defeated by the English. The Native Canadians were pushed aside. Then the rest of Europe decided to move here, too. In the late 20th century, Asians, Indians, and Hong Kong Chinese followed.

But not one race or ‘tribe’ dominates the national identity. Only our beer:

Janis Joplin Reincarnated?

janis-joplin

Courtney Hadwin

America’s Got Talent seems to get a lot of performers from other parts of the world. This young lady (13 years of age) comes from England. She is not a novice, when it comes to performing on stage before a live audience and television cameras, having competed on The Voice – UK Kids in 2017. But to American viewers, she seems to have come out of nowhere.

Janis Joplin

We know exactly what time Janis was born, so that makes viewing of her birth chart real.

JoplinJanisWREJC1

The thing to note is the YOD (Finger of God) pointing at the Moon in Cancer in the 5th House. This seems to imply a triple sensitivity to emotional pain. But like the oyster with a speck of dirt, a “Pearl” results from that pain.

Comparison Charts

Unlike the previous work I’ve done on reincarnated individuals, I do not have an exact time of Janis’ death, nor the birth time of her supposedly ‘new’ embodiment.

Even so, there are connections, as you can see:

JoplinJanisWTADA3

The one connection which might be important is the “death” Jupiter and Courtney’s South Node being conjunct Janis’ natal 9th House cusp. That implies something, but I’m not 100% sure of what, exactly.

Conclusion

Courtney Hadwin does have a distinctive performance style, one that is reminiscent of Janis Joplin. But is she Janis reincarnated? I think not.*

Although the hype will suggest that she is Janis reborn, AGT will just be wanting to keep its share of the viewing audience through the rest of the summer schedule. So, that makes it an interesting speculation. Courtney is from a different era, but she may only be copying Janis to great effect.

She might even win the contest.

*Post Script: I may have been too hasty, wanting every connection to line up precisely. Now that I’ve worked on dozens of reincarnations astrologically, I would say that Courtney Hadwin may be the spiritual embodiment of Janis Joplin’s style. There are connections between them, so I’m more willing to say, “Yes!” (December 19, 2020)

He Just Wanted to Fly

alaska-airlines-q400-680x365_c

One Last Joyride

The SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma International Airport) baggage handler who decided to take an empty Alaskan Airline Horizon Q400 turboprop aircraft for a test ride last Friday said he didn’t need much help flying it because he’d played a few video games.

Now, to the rest of us, that’s a huge step: going from virtual to real world situations is scary at best, and downright terrifying at worst. And yet he handled it fantastically even when he purposely tried to roll it into a potential crash.

Here is the Air Traffic Control conversation in its entirety:

Suicide by Air

Most people, when they decide to leave this world, choose their demise with whatever they can lay their hands on. Most people wouldn’t opt to take a final plane ride, on their own.

But I suspect this is something that he had always wanted to do. But when invited to try to land the plane, he declined to go anywhere that could cause problems for others. The fuel must have been running out, so he chose an island off the Washington coast for his final resting place.

His final words, are quoted here:

“Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess. Never really knew it, until now.”

Rest in Peace, young man.

Touching Our Atmos-Fear

Suns-corona

Outer Solar Atmosphere

Yesterday, NASA launched the Parker Solar Probe to explore the heat of the sun at its outer edges. My wife’s response was typical: “Why?”

Will it make any difference to our lives here on earth?

Even though nobody in ‘charge’ wants to admit it, climate change is real, and the ultimate purpose of any scientific experiment is to tackle this overheated subject matter. But spending 1.5 billion dollars to get ‘close’ (within 4 million miles) to the sun seems a bit wasteful when that money could have be used to change our polluting technologies.

Space Force

The fact that the United States has just announced the creation of a Space Force betrays another ‘real’ purpose behind the probe.

We are on a perilous journey riding through space on this planet. Our planetary vehicle seems to be in need of a massive makeover before it breaks down completely. Some of the riders want a completely new vehicle, so they need to know they can make the trip to the dealership safely. The probe will give them a test run of protection against the cold and the heat. It will also allow NASA a way of salting money away for future ‘trips’.

britannia-rules-the-waves-n

The saying about ruling the waves is also true for solar winds. And if those winds can be harnessed somehow, who knows where we can sail?

Conclusion

Panic must be setting in. We find ourselves running low in natural resources, such as oil and water. We have polluted our oceans, the landfills are getting full, we have destroyed countries with war, the air quality is diminished and the earth is fighting back.

If we don’t fix this soon, we may not survive. What are you going to do about it?

One Man’s Terrorist

2015-1985-afghan-fighting-afghan-fighting-usa-invasion-soviet-invasion-18011130

Another Man’s Freedom Fighter

According to quora.com:

“A terrorist is someone who uses fear to motivate civilians to act in a political manner on their behalf. A freedom fighter is someone who acts on the behalf of at least some civilian population in direct opposition to a military or government. The men pictured are the Mujaheddin in Afghanistan.”

We judge others according to their perceived motives. But the lens we view through is clouded with prejudice. And we have been told by the media and our governments what those motives are.

Israel and India

In 1947, two different peoples were seeking independence and freedom. One took the route of armed struggle, the other, passive resistance. Both were trying to rid their countries of British occupation.

Both succeeded.

But now they are resistant to anyone else doing the same thing against them. Depending on your prejudice, you might agree with them or not.

And if you are in an ethnic minority, you might feel that you have no choice.

Ireland

The “Troubles” had been going on for three decades. The Provisional IRA (Irish Republican Army) had made it their vowed intent to rid the whole of Ireland of the English. Unfortunately for them, the Unionists/Loyalists hadn’t wanted to do so. (Doesn’t this sound a little bit familiar? In the War of Independence, British Loyalists moved to Canada.)

What the IRA did that made them terrorists, rather than freedom fighters, was that they took the fight to England, and started a bombing campaign that carried on for most of the 1980’s.

Did they achieve their goal? No.

Conclusion

It is easy to be an armchair quarterback, deciding which moves are good ones and which ones are not. But the people who live under the control of another nation find the situation intolerable. They feel they have no choice but to fight for their freedom.

Freedom is a right, but terrorism is not. Can we really tell the difference?

It Wasn’t His Time to Die

stuckstreetcar

A Matter of Faith

When 77 cm of rain fell on downtown Toronto on Tuesday this past week, flash flooding caught a couple of co-workers in an elevator. They had gone to the basement of the building where they work to check on their cars, and got stuck in the elevator. The story is recounted by Global News here.

Two of the four TV networks operating out of Toronto had extensive interviews. I didn’t see the CityTV one, but I caught the CP24/CTV news at 5 one. Now I have seen the Global version, above. The CBC also reported the story on The National at 10 pm, but they skipped over what I thought was the most important part of the story of their rescue.

One of the men, Gabriel, said that he had prayed when the water started to rise quickly in the elevator; as he is quoted in the news report, he said,

“I got the word that now was not my time…”

How to Save “Face” on the World Stage

The Canada-Saudi Arms Deal

In early 2015, the Harper Government announced an arms deal with Saudi Arabia. There were some very happy people that this sale went ahead. Others were quite unhappy. It was suspected that the Saudis would use these machines against other countries, such as Yemen, and against their own minority people.

When Trudeau and the Liberals won the federal election later that year, everyone expected that the new Canadian government would cancel the arms deal, but (surprise-surprise) they didn’t.

That put Canada in a very awkward position: as a country, we were dealing with another country that has a terrible reputation for human rights abuses. Canada’s position has always been quite clear: we do not associate with human rights abusers.

Fast Forward Three Years

Last week, Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, called on Saudi Arabia to release two human rights activists, siblings Raif and Samar Badawi.

This set off a firestorm of response from the Saudis. So far, they have: recalled their Ambassador; kicked out Canada’s Ambassador; told Saudi students and medical trainees that they have to leave Canada by the end of the month; pulled airline services; and began to sell off Canadian stock holdings.

So far, Canada has not responded in kind, and have firmly but diplomatically stood their ground. This has enraged the Saudis. No Western countries have sided with Canada. Even the United States has suggested that each side choose diplomacy to de-escalate the crisis. Canada is on its own. Everyone else is worried about losing all that lovely oil money.

A Suggestion

Perhaps, and we may never know for sure, the Liberals have decided that they need to start acting like Liberals and not pseudo-Conservatives. There is a federal election coming next year, and the Liberal political base will willingly vote NDP if they think their leaders are betraying their ethics.

This places the Trudeau government in a tricky position. If they don’t stand up to the Saudis, they will be acquiescing to a corrupt and cruel country. But the silver lining is that there is a potential that the Saudis may cancel the balance of the arms deal from 2015. This will let the Liberals off the hook, and they can ‘tsk-tsk’ all the way to the polls that the Saudis did it, not them.

Conclusion

Politics makes for some very strange bedfellows. Clean-cut Trudeau hanging out with ‘dirty-tricks’ Saudis is one step too far.

If Canada can stand up to Trump, and the Republican party, it must surely be able to withstand pressure from the Arabian Peninsula.

The province that will most likely suffer the consequences is Ontario. The new Progressive Conservative government here is headed by a wannabe Trump, Doug Ford. There is no love lost between Ottawa and Ontario. This split in partisan politics will be just the ticket for a federal return to power.

But who’s return: the Liberals or the Conservatives?

We’ll just have to see how it plays out.

Impossible Mission: Regime Change

f15fd3f5a3f3c5097cd0c3a4ded45ecf

The Impossible Missions Force

The term ‘black ops’ is more common now than when this television show premiered in 1966. And there seemed something ‘real’ about it, even though it was supposed to be a fantasy. Especially the opening sequence before the theme music, where Mr. Phelps would be given his group’s instructions. This was always followed by the warning that, should they fail, the Secretary would disavow any knowledge of them.

Lighting the Fuse

In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in cyber attacks by countries who are ‘enemies’ of the West. These are only noticeable because we are being told about them in the media. If our governments didn’t really want us to know, they would disavow any knowledge, wouldn’t they?

So, ask yourself “Why now?”

Is this a case of the ‘pot [CIA] calling the kettle [KGB] black’?

Russia is the big bugaboo, these days. Putin is the boogeyman. If you want to unite your country behind whatever you’re hoping to accomplish, you need a focus, you need a common enemy.

Head of the Hydra

NATO is hoping to provoke Putin into attacking one of their member states. This is proving a lot harder than they thought it would. He is a wily fox and with today’s technology, he seems to be at least one step ahead of the rest.

During recent Russian elections, he won by a landslide. Sure, the elections were probably rigged and the opposition didn’t have a hope in hell of winning, but Putin likes to be admired, and he puts on a good show, especially for the hometown crowd.

Just before their election day, Putin proudly announced to the Russians that they have built bigger and better atomic missiles. This forced the Americans to admit the same. So much for a secret new “Cold War”. It also puts the US-NK Summit into perspective.

Denuclearization is a farce. But let’s try to keep everyone from worrying about the bomb. Let’s find a way to defeat Putin.

It’s Just a Game

Last night I had a dream about Putin and his cyber-warriors. He made a game of it, mainly to light their creative sparks. He has not told them what to do, he has just suggested that there were things that could be done and left it to them to decide how and when.

The specific image I saw in my dream was of Putin washing his feet. Strange image, to be sure, but an interesting echo of Pilate washing his hands of guilt. He was making sure that he left no digital footprints for anyone to follow. It also meant that he could, you guessed it, “disavow any knowledge” if they got caught.

Who Fell in the Garden of Eden?

LiveLaughLove_grande

Read it Backwards

I had a flash of inspiration yesterday when writing out the above phrase on Messenger: what if we reversed the words? English is a hybrid of other languages and yet it seems to be the standard for communication the world over. Why is that?

I ‘heard’ the words turn back on themselves, and read from right to left:

evolve, fall, evil.

To evolve we must fall into evil.

Now some of you may have already twigged onto this idea, but it was news to me, in this context. The fall reversed comes from the way ‘laugh’ is spelled sometimes, as in the saying, “You’re having a laff…”

It suddenly all made more sense.

From time immemorial, Man has felt guilt and shame for the events in the Garden of Eden which caused our expulsion from Paradise. Some would say this is just a religious myth, to keep us in our place, outside of Heaven. As with all myths, which evolve through the telling, there are elements of truth contained therein, but they may have to be disguised to get past our internal censor, the Ego.

An Analogy

For those of us with pets, it can sometimes be a daily trial to train our pet to behave in a way that suits us. Usually, to domesticate a dog, for example, you have to help it to overcome its basic nature of aggression (as a defense mechanism) and competition with other dogs (for attention of their owners).

Dogs are naturally social creatures. They know perfectly well how to live in packs. There is the alpha dog and the omega dog, and the rest somewhere in between, and the pack thrives when these positions are accepted and perfected. It is only when dogs became domesticated that their instincts were retrained to the humans’ preferences. But not all dogs forget what they really are: descended from wolves.

Domesticated cats are different, in that they don’t seem to need humans at all (except for food and comfort), but feral cats have a similar hierarchy in group dynamics. Even a household of domesticated felines will have cat fights on occasion. Those claws have been known to sort out misbehaviour in the ranks.

What About Man?

Now this is where the picture gets muddied. In the first place, why were humans created? There are several interesting theories doing the rounds, but the one that makes the most sense is that humans were made to serve the gods, like robotic slaves. (Instantly, my mind goes back to Blade Runner replicants.)

But in order for the new ‘human’ machines to work effectively, a part of their creators had to be built in to their genetics, the so-called God gene.

It is this part that actually represents the Fall of spirit into matter.

Conclusion

In most of our understanding, especially of spiritual matters, we have got it backwards. When we turn our thinking around, we begin to see the ‘truth’.

Our basic nature ‘in the flesh’ does what it always does, just like an undisciplined dog or cat. It fights for survival. That should come as no surprise even to those who think they have evolved beyond such petty human strife.

But the hint of the Creator in our genetics makes us yearn for something ‘other’. That is why were seem to be Wanderers. We are looking for our way back “Home”.
